I'm watching Heeney, not keen to go in with him from the start. I'm really wary about where the Swans are this year.
Yeah was barely in the CBs in Marsh series as flagged. I can see him getting cheaper and then potentially switch to more mid at some point but from the start it seems he’ll play more fwd than previous years (as he said so himself)

Hadn’t thought of it myself but I could do it as well if needed. Would you consider Daicos in the same role? He’s 260k and scored 80s in both preseason games?
Doubt he has the upside of Hately, though I haven't watched him closely. Vandenberg the other one that stands out on a scroll down in the depths of the dark SC web.

I don't think there's any fear of picking rookies or the rookies not being there, it's more the quality of rookies, well, not even so much the quality of rookies but more the scoring potential of rookies, especially at rookie prices. This year the majority of rookies are in that higher bracket - $130k and up, with several $180k and up. This is what burns through your cash and it's harder for them to make $150k then a good $106k bargain base player.

I'd usually be stacking a team with $123k and less players, maybe take a Rowel/Walsh type or two. Players like Taylor/Davis etc might give you a 60+ one week but my gut says they're more your 40-60 type.
I must have the wrong price list then

Brander , Williams
Pickett
C/VC loop
any 2 of Davis , King , Rankine , Sturt

Maybe "fear" was the wrong word , perhaps "reluctant" to actually start $ 150 k rookies on the bench.

Certainly wouldn't be compromising in premo picks myself when the rookies look like they are their , maybe I have it all wrong.

Will need to go back through @Tails stats and see how many rookies did go 60+

I think AVB got injured so has been ruled out for R1.

When paying 200k-$300k, you’d want rock solid JS, Hately I’m not sure has that but certainly has the upside

Nope you don't, now put your predicted averages next to each of them, that's where the word fear starts to come in for me anyway.

And yeah sorry I see you say bench, I'm talking about usually starting $123k and lesser priced players on the field to score well.

I definitely would usually agree. I suspect we will be able to scratch together a team without him but I will keep the idea in the back pocket.
Rowbottom is the answer at that price. Great JS, led the averages in the NEAFL last year, fantasy gun as a junior, will get his opportunities in a ravaged Swans side, has DPP, and is in 0% of sides.

ok my apologies misread that part.

might work on my lock and load side and see what hidden gems I can uncover in the "forbidden" $ 250 - $ 300 k range.

Josh Daicos, the forbidden fruit
I have found half a team

Williams (close enough) , McKenzie , Birchall, Lukosius * , Doedee , Bailey *, Roberton
Hately (close enough) , Daicos, van den Berg
Naismith
Long, Fort, Rayner

sad that none of them will (probably) not be keepers

Thoughts on Gresh this year Snowman?
Going into his 5th season having gone at 61-66-79-83 I’d only expect that upward trajectory to continue. I think with the addition of Butler and improved form of Lonie he’s also likely to spend more time in the middle than he’s had previously, which can only be a good thing you’d think.
All that said he won’t be starting in my side. Partly because I mostly try an avoid starting Saints players, and the fact he now has the early bye. But mostly because I see better value in a few others at about 100k less

West Coast
From The West Australian's article about today's West Coast Intra-Club...

Much of the Eagles’ best suited up for the run through, with Josh Kennedy (elbow), Bailey Williams (hamstring), Ben Johnson and Liam Duggan the only noticeable absentees.

Utility Jarrod Brander appears to be ahead of premiership tagger Mark Hutchings based on the line-ups, with the Victorian impressing with his positioning as he continues to grow in his new role on the wing.

The quartet of Kennedy, Williams, Duggan and Johnson all participated in the warm up drills, before heading to the other east oval to do light skill work while match simulation took place.

Ahh damn..... the rookie situation just got worse..... I think I will take B.Williams at R3 in any case as he seems very close
