Very interesting, thanks ... does anyone else have a view?

The question is never "will he improve". There are dozens of players in the 300to 450k range that will improve. The question is will he improve enough to be worth keeping or to make enough $$ to be a stepping stone. Now that question is entirely different and suddenly dozens becomes less than perhaps five. I have a fwd that I expect could improve 20 to 25 pts this season but that is not enough to be a keeper nor enough to make cash to be a stepping stone. So I go with a rookie instead.

Rowbottom is the answer at that price. Great JS, led the averages in the NEAFL last year, fantasy gun as a junior, will get his opportunities in a ravaged Swans side, has DPP, and is in 0% of sides.
been a long wait to see who posts about him, another site I visit they have been all over him for months

$ 1,800.00 dearer than Smith
Darcy McPherson is the one from other forums that people are raving about and in the forward midpriced mess category that SCS teams seem light on... argument is a better version of greenwood....

Only had 1 cba over the 2 PS games. I was keen on him but without any mid minutes can see some very quiet games against better teams.

Certainly very interesting comparing people's view on players from different forums and quite noticeable when 1-2 get so much attention on one forum and very little on another.

Personally I feel Darcy Macpherson falls into "plays in the wrong state mentality " category so very quickly gets overlooked on a particular forum.

I can't fit him , TJL , Yusuf Islam & Smith all in from the start unless I let Whitfield go or one of my Fab 5 mids.

How do you even know this stuff!

I know someone raise you putting names in and can understand why. However, reading your comments then working out who it is is also like an enjoyable cross word puzzle. very witty, keep it up.

I do have Yusuf, Smith and gaff taped punching bag in one side with Whit/Dusty +big 7. need Tobe Watson/williams on bench in defence though.

Probably surprising what the brain learns and retains over many many years (a lot of it probably useless info) but occasionally a little spark ignites and it can be useful.

To be honest though I do remember listening to Rex commentating games in the past on the radio and not having a single clue about who is was referring too ?

I would have thought most I use are fairly common , Apple & Apricot (for Steak knives and Maynard are my own creation though , but now I think about it I am not sure which one is Apple and which one is Apricot ? )

One of my favourite Rex nicknames was for Paul Bulluss from Richmond. He called him “the hit “

Some relevant comments from the captains on rookies (and some mid pricers) from here (https://www.afl.com.au/news/384652/afl-stars-predict-your-club-s-fantasy-bolter). Sorry prices are AFL Fantasy prices.

  • "[Ben Davis ($170,000 FWD)] has got himself incredibly fit, he's an absolute Adonis. Myles Poholke ($288,000 FWD) you've seen little bits and pieces of, but his summer has been incredible." – Rory Sloane
  • "At a good price, I think it's Zac Bailey ($358,000 DEF/MID). I think he'll play a lot, he has the capacity to play forward, midfield and defence, he's fast, he's agile, and he's going to be around the ball a lot. I can't see why he can't have a good year." – Dayne Zorko
  • "I'll say Will Setterfield ($498,000 MID)." - Sam Docherty
  • "Cal Brown ($484,000 FWD), Josh Daicos ($431,000 MID), they'll probably get more midfield time and more exposure at senior level. Both those guys should score well." – Scott Pendlebury
  • "I'm going to go with Darcy Parish ($589,000 MID/FWD), he'll be huge. There'll still be a bit of a combination of midfield/forward for him this year, but I just think his genuine impact is going to be great this year." – Dyson Heppell
  • "Hayden Young ($258,000 DEF). I think he's going to play a lot of games and he's going to adapt to AFL quickly. After the usual period of coming to terms with things, he should become a good player." – Nat Fyfe
  • "Cooper Stephens ($240,000 MID) will probably play a few games this year. A young guy by the name of Ben Jarvis ($170,000 DEF) had a really good pre-season. I think Jordan Clark ($468,000 MID) is only going to improve on his first season." – Mitch Duncan
  • "If we're talking cash cows, Connor Budarick ($170,000 MID/FWD) is a good one. Matt Rowell ($270,000 MID) and Noah Anderson ($268,000 MID) will play, but Connor's probably one who will slip under the radar." - David Swallow
  • "Tom Green ($252,000 MID) is probably going to play early, but I'll say Harry Perryman ($562,000 MID)." – Stephen Coniglio
  • "I'll say Harry Morrison ($477,000 MID/FWD). He's experienced senior footy before. I think he played 21 games in 2018, played a few last year as well, so he's played at the top level already and I think he's had a strong pre-season and I think there'll be a spot at half-back for him with Blake Hardwick going down, so I think he'll be a regular." – Tom Mitchell
  • "Tom Sparrow ($293,000 FWD) … or Christian Petracca ($563,000 FWD), because his average wouldn't have been that high, surely." – Max Gawn
  • "I reckon Tarryn Thomas ($410,000 FWD) had a great year last year and will probably get a few more midfield minutes this year. He's a very classy player, so I reckon he's going to be a star for us." – Jack Ziebell
  • "Mitch Georgiadis ($236,000 FWD) might sneak in for round one. Dan Houston's ($596,000 DEF/MID) probably going to be a midfielder this year so you could get some value there." – Tom Jonas
  • "Marlion (Pickett) ($170,000 MID). He's not young, but he's fresh. Jack Ross ($419,000 MID) and Riley Collier-Dawkins ($170,000 MID), they're midfielders who could easily slot in and play some senior footy." – Trent Cotchin
  • "There's a few … Jack Lonie ($493,000 FWD) kicked eight goals over the two Marsh games but I think if we can stay healthy up forward with Max King and Rowan Marshall and Paddy Ryder going through there, someone like Tim Membrey ($593,000 FWD) will be pretty impactful because he'll get maybe the third- or second-best defender because Max or Paddy will take the bigger ones." – Seb Ross
  • "You'd have to say Dylan Stephens ($262,000 MID) and maybe Will Gould ($220,000 DEF). They might play round one, we'll see. But those two would be the obvious ones. I'm just not sure of the prices or who is cheap, though." – Josh Kennedy
  • "I haven't done Fantasy for 10 years so I don't know how it works but I'll say Jarrod Brander ($217,000 DEF/FWD). I think we'll see him play a few games this year, he's been on the list for a couple of years and he's played a handful of games but he looks to have gone to another level over summer and has been a good performer for us." - Luke Shuey
  • "Bailey Williams ($575,000 DEF) has cemented himself in our back six. He looks really set to progress his career pretty quickly." – Marcus Bontempelli
