Yeah I'd expect he still plays around 65-70% game time... But the Eagles would have more info than us on what future fixture planning is likely to look like, and as XabiFernando suggested, They could reduce Nic Nat's mins accordingly knowing there will be a shorter gap between games.

It's just so hard to know with so much up in the air regarding fixturing.

I've considered starting Nic Nat, and would love too as an Eagles fan... But at the moment he's out and I'm sticking with Grundy & Gawn. I know we have more trades per week now with 30 trades over 17 weeks... But you are likely going to want to use them making as much cash as quick as you can, and also fixing up other issues. I just think if you can lock away 2 guys like Grundy & Gawn with their scoring ability (Even at the high price)... It's 2 spots you don't have to worry about. There's no way Nic Nat plays all 17 games in my opinion so that means you are already committing a trade... and it's likely to come at just the wrong time too for your team.
100% agree with that part... however.... if they cram games in are Grawndy guaranteed to play every game? so many unknowns.

I'm buckled up for the NN ride!

My thinking is you'd back Grundy and Gawn in to play every game in a condensed season though ahead of Nic Nat playing every game.

Either way could turn out to be the right call, and we aren't gonna know until a lot later in the year what the right call was.

I feel Nic Nat could push towards 110 with the shortened game.

With that in mind, I’m finding it hard to avoid him.

Gawn+rookie to Nic Nat+Walsh looks likely.
I'm getting the same feels.

For me it's Gawn + fwd rookie vs. Nic Nat + Lynch/Riewoldt. I think purely points wise the Nic Nat side wins easily, but captaincy (C) and safety favours the Gawn side. This season is going to be about who dares wins though so I'm leaning Nic Nat at this point...

Thanks for your thoughts. The concerns you raise are the ones I'm grappling with as well. If NN's game time is reduced from 70 mins to 60 mins, then the upside is pretty much nullified as well.

I think the point about missing games due to short turnarounds could equally apply to Gawn as well. They have Jackson and also Preuess is 3-5 weeks away. It could also apply to Grundy/Cameron and Naismith/Sinclair/Knoll. So so many unknowns. B.Williams if he becomes a playing backup option helps with all of those.

A NN/BWilliams "handcuff" combo could help somewhat nullify the risk of missed games by NN as if NN misses, surely you can bet BWilliams plays. The cover may not always line up as nicely if say a Gawn or Naismith misses.

In any case, we should probably just be happy that the game is going ahead and try get as much enjoyment out of it as possible. Having NN in my side definitely adds to the enjoyment of watching WCE games so it is very tempting!

Yeah it's a tough one. Steven being out caused a bit of a rethink. Don't really want to play 2 fwd rookies that are going to score 40-60 points each week. If Nic Nat gets his average up to 110-115 then the money you save going him over Gawn will buy you a lot of points elsewhere.

Shorter games probably means that WCE don't go in with 2 dedicated ruckman, so it'll help both Nic Nat and Williams.

That's what scare's me with Grundy aswell coz they won't lose too much if Cameron played ruck 1 for a game or 2 here and there

You make some very good points.

Nic Nat is so tempting, and even more so for me being an Eagles fan... Would love to whack him in my team and then cheer him on every week.

With our ruck situation at West Coast... I reckon if Nic Nat has a game off... Hickey comes in to play lead ruck. Can't see us wanting to hand the lead ruck role to a rookie. I think Williams is battling Vardy for the backup role, as I don't think we'll play Hickey & Nic Nat together now Williams has announced himself, as both Hickey and Nic Nat are lead ruckmen types. Williams has such an advantage for the backup ruck role in my opinion as he is the best forward of the lot.

That 240k from dropping Gawn to Nic Nat does look very appealing though. And the more I read and think about it... The more I'm considering Nic Nat.

The shackles are off for me, given the uncertainty of the season, and not being able to go and watch footy, and probably not even be able to go to a pub and watch it either.

Decided to roll with a Nic Nat/English combo to throw caution into the wind. If there’s ever a season you wanted to really take a punt and shy away from the conservative approach, this is the season to do it.

The extra funds freed up really bolsters the rest of my side. Excited to see how it pans out.

If you go NicNat you hvae to go early, 30 trades will soften the blow the only issue with a reduced number of games, no byes and so many trades is if you fall behind that's it pretty much for the year i reckon. Will be hard to make ground. Need to trade aggress to keep at the top.

All positions could be affected by players resting, even our gun mids, not just ruckmen. I may be totally off the mark, but I’ll be picking the same team I would have, with a full season. Gun players are still gun players, and you still have to get your rookies right. My brain‘s hurting as it is,don’t need anything else to think about!
