Might bring in Mahony to get Pickett's score and then play Budarick & Cavarra onfield.

Any thoughts on who to place on the bench out of Bedford , Davis , Georgiades , King , Sturt & Taylor ? depending on final teams of course

Cheers
Taylor looks like he has the highest scoring potential out of that group as a high half forward.

Budarick looks good and Cavarra coming in with no preseason game time must mean that the Doggies rate him.

Sturt and Georgiadis look like slow burns, King could be as well but he has shown some glimpses if he can get his confidence up (and lose the yips he already looks like he has kicking for goal).

Bedford and Davis look like fringe options for mine - their scoring might be dependent on them kicking goals in limited TOG which is always risky for a small forward.

I am looking at a floating solution to Picket - would prefer this to Hibberd. Should get time tomorrow before Sunday teams named, right?

Midfielders did okay. I thought Cripps looked very influential live but he only ended up on 112.

Forwards seem to struggle a bit more. May have just been the nature of this game in particular which seemed to be high scoring and fast paced. TJ, JRoo poor. J.Martin had a MASSIVE game but only had 107 in the end, thought he might've ended up on 130.

Low tackle counts for Blues wouldn't have helped

I straight up started Pickett as I didn’t think the alternatives were better even though named and didn’t want to be forced into a zero. I thought Pickett was one of the safest rookies to start? At least ok for 65-70 which is good enough.
Some people are goin lighter on rucks and could go that 5th prem mid and a midprice dpp at m6

It was looking at bit grim early on but he worked his way into the game.

Looping him will just force me to be a little more discriminating with the rookie priced players I go with once teams are announced tomorrow night, which probably isn't a bad thing.

Appreciate the detailed response.

Might go Budarick , Cavarra , King & Taylor

Throughout tonights game I was also thinking I might need to grab Whitfield given the way it seemed to be played.

You don't happen to know what Whitfields IPs were in 2018 when he sort of played that HB role?
Available on footywire, I'm pretty sure the ITC column is the Intercept Possession stat. Seasonal average of 4.4 IPs. Not that high in the end but looking at FF his role seems to have changed a lot in 2018 so had he played full time HB, may have been higher.

Found a good stat too trying to do a @Connoisseur. Where Whitfield had 3+ IPs in 2018, he averaged 106 SC. In 2019, with 3+ IPs, he averaged 115.

Seems to me that being clean with disposals is going to be even more influential on SC scoring than last season. Means the Crouch brothers will be proper in the proverbial.

Soldo had 90% DE tonight and had 3 free kicks for and 0 against. 25 HO and probably 20-25% of those were HTA's at least. If more, then he's actually had a night out for only 100 points. That's the flip side of thinking. I think Gawn and Grundy will need to have big impacts with disposals to have their top tier scores like previous seasons.

Would advise everyone to not tear their teams up to get Picketts score on field. Cash gen is far more important than 40 odd points.

The mid rookies still look suspect to me and adding a donut could cause problems. Robertson, T.Brown, McInerney could all be out next week.

For anyone else who has Pickett as emergency on the bench (like me) and is debating the worth of including a DTP to get his respectable rookie score ..

... we all have 30 trades left with 16 rounds to play, including no price changes after this round. I don’t think it is a hard decision.

I didn't think Robertson was even confirmed in for this week yet

Soldo 100 from 58% tog
So lock in Grundy and Gawn for 150+ then...
Always two sides to a coin, Nank had only 27 from 46% TOG. Casboult 104 from 86% TOG but also had 2 goals. Kreuzer was injured very early so the stats are really hard to read much into.

Not much the wiser on the rucks but my general perception was that the game was really fast paced which meant less stoppages. IIRC there were some comments from Ratten that he expected games to be faster paced due to the shorter games, if that's the trend it could be the case that rucks suffer a little from having less HOs from stoppages.

Mids might suffer slightly as well due to less stoppages. Half back flankers would love it!

However, it is only the first game of round 1!
