How many rookie forwards is too many?

Almost feel like dropping Brayshaw to Cavarra and upgrading Starveich to a 400k defender.

Would give me Georgiades, Taylor, Cavarra, Sturt and King as my fwd line rookies.

With rebounding defenders doing well last night, I'm trying to find a structure that has Budarick at F6.

That has meant I'm only running one rookie fwd on field however.
I'dm still a little cautious about reading too much into it, I think the game played last night won't be typical of many sides, was a pretty ordinary standard but who knows, certainly hasn't been any scoring changes I'm aware of but understand it couild be a fall-out of reduced time, still like to see more. Unfortunately though regardless of reduced time I expected tonights game will also suit Caleb Daniel and Crisp.

Their scoring potential has me worried.

King, Sturt, Georgiades, and even Cavarra could be 40-50 point scorers which is not ideal on field.

Although the def rookies have their JS issues, I have faith that they will score decently.

I'd be very wary of reading anything into a data set with a sample size of 1. It's one game out of hundreds. I'm probably not going to load up on players with neck tattoos because Dusty scored well. Better to stick with what we know, than make sweeping inferences based on one game of footy.

So you are loading up on rebounding defenders?

Edit: or you think the rookie defenders will play a rebounding role and score well so you are loading up on rookies in defence?
Budarick named in backpocket so i think he just going off that R50 points than a normal 40-50 rookie fwd score who has little impact on field.

But there are options to swap around to as corrections if you leave the slot open in your side. Hopefully Taylor is named and then for me it's just one more out of the list you've got there. Even though the forward rookie tree bears lower scoring potential fruit the crop is plentiful.

Rightly or wrongly, I'm currently in the opposite camp, even before last night's game. I feel that players like Daniel, Crisp, Laird, etc. will actually lose out to the more intercepting types.

I've said before that the higher ratio guys will be the main beneficiaries of these shortened games. These quality players with high ratios are going to get the lion share of any scaling points, they always do. I agree with @Bomber18 assertion that intercept defenders has a decided edge over say a high possession type defenders, couple this with someone who's an elite ball user and generally kicks long (ala Docherty) and that's a perfect combination.

Either way, I'll be watching tonight's game (and SC scores) with a keen interest.

I can't get myself to pick 5 fwd rookies as much as i want them.

Going with Whitfield, Martin, Ceglar, Smith then Cavarra, Taylor, Sturt and King.

Feel dirty leaving Georgiades out but can't seem him scoring awesome and if he has a bad game the week before Dixon is out could see him being first dropped ahead of Todd Marshall.

Reads above and puts Harris Andrews back in short list.

Yeah I think that’s better. Forward line looks good.

Hahaha...

To me, he's more of an intercept stopper defender these days as they have others to transition the ball. I've always rated his kicking but for whatever reason, he just doesn't want to go there. There's only so many points you can get for an effective spoil so unless he can add other facets to his game, then I doubt that he'll maximise on his scoring potential.

I see him very much in the Rance mould, but at this point in his development, he has yet to add rebounding to his game.

Don't discount playing Brander onfield in the forward lines.

With Naismith at R3 , Williams D8 & Mahony/Budarick in the mids opens up all trade options

Naismith then could be turned into a premium Defender , Midfielder or Forward via the magic of DPP.

Or simply downgraded to a R3.

Like your thinking, just sometimes these scenarios are way too much for my head.. ?

Little bit curious why you put Laird in the category with Daniel and Crisp as a "non-intercepting" type. Laird averaged 9.0 IPs per game in 2018 (4th overall) and 7.2 IPs per game in 2019 (13th overall). Agree that perhaps Daniel and Crisp are more the "accumulator" rather than "interceptor" types.

Funny enough tho Crisp 24 games 154 Intercepts 34 Intercept marks. Laird 22 games 159 Intercepts 27 Intercept marks.
