No brain R3 IMO, 100% comes into the side when NN is rested. Hickey takes the #1 role and Williams slides into his spot.
Yep, he's an easy choice for R3 for me as well. I think the Hickey/NN combination is more to matchup well against Gawn. I did originally have my doubts re playing an underdone 19 yo against Gawn, it has played out that way but from all the commentary coming out of WCE, B.Williams is the preferred 2nd ruck choice long term.

Thoughts on Bont as captain?
Prefer Macrae if you expect the Dogs to win.

2018 Wins Avg: 143 from 7 (0/7 below 100, 6/7 120+)
2019 Wins Avg: 128.53 from 12 (0/12 below 100, 8/12 120+)

0/19 below 100 and 14/19 120+ in wins over the past 2 seasons.

The last time he scored under 100 in a Bulldogs win was RD10 2017.

How man times do we expect NN to realistically be rested over a 17 round season? 2, maybe 3 times?
With the big fellas injury history, Williams could play 16 ;) In all seriousness though, if he can string 4 or more games together, I’ll take that 100k all the way to the bank.

If he doesn’t, then I have a sub optimal loop player. Well and truly worth the gamble I reckon.

Any validity in running 2 floating donuts now we have very limited rookies?

Thinking I take Williams out.

Swing Starcevich back.

Budarick to the mids.

And bring in B O'Connor, allowing me to swing Brander Fwd.

Leaves me with 50k. But basically 2 dead spots.

Don't rate Sturt, Davis, Bedford etc.
I like the O'Conner suggestion - helped me solve a few problems (y)

BZT , McAsey , Starcevich , Brander
Green , Pickett , Brown , McInerney
Williams
Bedford , Budarick , Cavarra , Davis , Georgiades , King , Sturt , Taylor

should give you enough bench options

Mahony F/M if you need a ? to take Pickett's score
@Seymour Skinner

struggling to see where we have limited rookies ?

and I even left Guthrie out.

maybe Round 2 sees more debutants so just use 2 trades to correct next round

Bit of an each way bet tonight.
Macrae, Bont and Dunkley locked in for the ride.
Grundy with the VC.
Howe and Noble for value down back.
E on Cavarra.
Good luck with 3 bulldogs mids, I was tempted, but gone Macrea and Bont

I can really see Williams getting a debut next week. Maybe with his recent hamstring they're just being a bit more cautious with him. WCE probably also want to see how playing 2 main ruckmen will affect them before reassessing. I'm keeping him.
In any event, there is no one to replace him with in my case.

To me Hickey is just gettin the fitness run as he was coming back from injury to play in Wafl Reserves preseason game b4 all was cancelled.

Yes I remember you thinking that we might go Hickey vs Gawn.

I think this may only be a week 1 thing because we are playing Gawn, It's not fitness as Williams has trained all week and was in the extended squad, and don't forget Hickey was totally out of favour in the pre-season despite being available for selection.

I can see Williams coming in next week, also Simmo said today about maybe going back to 1 ruck with the shorter matches.

It's limited because there's no alternatives and the only surplus is the fwds. I have 13 of the blokes listed there already.
lol , not sure how it is limited but anyway

I think a Grundy Gawn + $ 1 million bench leaves you $ 380k each for 20 players , lots and lots of options available at that price

with so many trades available and the comp destined to stop sooner rather than later , so many options available for starting teams

I read he was only over the injury after Marsh 1 and needed the WAFL practice game to get some fitness back into him.
