That's a great idea!
I think for 320K, Sandilands is a lock for me if he has a great preseason.

I'm expecting his Price to be around $310-$330k.
At that Price you can take him and nearly sit him in your R3 spot, and truly make your Rucks set and forget. Particularly if you can find a Grundy type as a cheap R2.
I say it every year, but I still can't believe people are considering HMac. I guess Sandi is nearly as bad.
Maybe just go the Whole shooting match - Goldstein, Grundy, Sandi, HMac and hope you never have to make a trade in your Rucks for the whole year!

anything over about 150k is too much for a bench player from the outset..
Depending on price Hmac, Sandi or Grundy will probably fit in as a R1 and/or R2 with the plan of upgrading them after they have increased in price somewhat or get injured (ie. Leuenberger this year).

I'm also not a fan of the 'set and forget' strategy in any position. While it may make you feel warm and fuzzy inside, you may also miss out on great opportunities with this mindset..

IF Hmac has a preseason and is a round 1 starter I will risk him. He done well as a stepping stone in 2012. Even if he plays the first 7 games and gets injured he has played a role. Since he has missed the entire season and only played 7 in 2012 and 1 in 2011 surely he will be remarkably cheap and close to bottom priced. LeCras started this season at $369k but played 19,21,21 in the seasons before. But it will all depend on round 1 selection for me. If he is listed as 2 weeks you can count on him being gone for 12-16 weeks minimum lol. All year he has been listed at around 2 weeks. If he is at $128k though I dont think fitness even matters, i'd be comfortable with him at R3 or R4 at that price

Honestly, I am not sure about HMac. I think one of the key reasons that the Cats have been so good this year is that Blicavs has not only got so much better at ruckwork and playing in general, but also that his endurance allows great flexibility for them - they don't need to rest their ruck forward and adjust their structure accordingly, as their ruck can run all day! If it works this year, why change it?

Of course, second year blues will mean Blicavs will suck next year and HMac will dominate...

Blicavs will definitely not be our number 1 ruck. Simpson will be with Blicavs 2nd ruck IMO and Vardy forward. Not sure where Hmac will fit in tbh.

Grundy any chance of being Collingwood's number 1 ruck next year? The kid can play! Will have played 6 games by year's end i think so shouldn't be too expensive.

Jon Giles and Zac Smith should be reminders of why you don't pick a second year ruck in your team.

Vardy and Simpson also have questionable bodies. I think if Hmac can get fit he will be fine. The $6 million question is who will actually be fit lol

Lol so does Hmac. Simpson should be fine imo because his problem has been his back, but that seems fine now. Just got unlucky with his knee. Vardy and Hmac are far more questionable because Macintosh seems to have serious knee troubles and Vardy hip problems. That said, I think that only Hmac and Simpson are competing, because in all likelihood Vardy will replace Pods forward. Really hope that all 3 can stay fit next year.

Yeah good point but different circumstances I think. Giles and Smith played full seasons whereas Grundy will play 6-7 tops.

Giles and Smith also played major roles for their teams who got smashed week in week out whereas Grundy plays for the pies who should get some relief from Q.

Teenage v mature age is probably the concern though.

hence I said "also" :p

All 3 are questionable and it just seems down to luck who is fit. They will at some point all fall over then West gets a game lmao

Not sure what Grundy will be priced at but Jolly has been cut from the pies list. He also wants to go on for another season.

All the talk is Collingwood would trade for an experienced ruckman. But if Grundy does go in at #1 what a spew he has played a few to bump up his price lol

Looking for two set and forgets. Early thought Minson, NicNat (DPP) with a DPP R/F. Will cost though. Other route is Macintosh, Sandilands, or combinations thereof.

Gee it will be hard to ignore Sandi and NicNat at their prices. Grundy, Kreuzer also underpriced it would seem.

NicNat is an attractive option for sure.

Not sure on Sandi, McIntosh or Kreuzer - not great injury records over recent seasons.

Grundy also attractive, but now with Jolly out of the picture, a full season combined with 2nd-year blues could see him traded mid-season if he drops off. Should still rise in value.

Jacobs . . . we're not on good terms atm.

Maric . . . not sure what caused his drop-off in 2013. Could be an option. McEvoy in the same boat, as well as Jacobs. Clearly #1 rucks at their respective clubs, yet dropped significantly.

NicNat and Grundy for me atm, with McBean and another ruck rookie who will play (unlike Currie).

I think I am going to try and start cox and nic nat in my fwd line as opposed to rucks. I think there is a lot more value to be made in the ruck divison as opposed to fwds as we saw this year with minson and goldie.

I know there will be blokes like walker, chappy, pav, thomas etc but I don't really see many of them being top 6 fwds by seasons end so I will most likely be starting with one of jacobs/maric and sandi then swing one of cox or nic nat into the rucks and trade a ruck to a beams/martin of the past 2 years

Definantly want ddp.

Not sure if I want cox again.
R1 minson R2 hmac/kruz/sandi

i am a grundy fan and he did only play 6 games but his highest score was 93. Not the stats you wanna see from your r2.
There will be improvement so maybe a little harsh.
Nic nat fwd for mine with r4 dpp rookie

potential breakout:
M. Lobbe
23 year old
