Call me stubborn, call me stupid, but sticking to my original no Grawndy plans for the next few weeks at least. Could put me wayyyy behind the 8 ball or could be a stroke of genius.. ? currently running NicNaismith
I am seriously considering this too.

I stuffed up in round 1 by somehow not putting the emergency on Naismith as it was for 99% of the pre-season. Because of this mistake, I needed to get another playing ruck and ended up with Naitanui / Jacobs / Naismith (I was planning on choosing someone cheap like Comben rather than Naitanui if Naismith had a decent R1 and spending the extra cash elsewhere).

Jacobs and Naismith both should generate a lot of cash quickly. I'm considering downgrading Naitanui this week to a cheap ruck and using that extra $330-340K on other trades. Definitely risky, but I do like the look of my other lines with this option much more compared to how they look when I upgrade to Gawn or Grundy this round.

I suspect you’ve already considered this, and it may not address what you’re referring to re strengthening other lines, but perhaps Ceglar is another option? Could be a forward keeper in time, and someone like D Cameron could be an appealing rookie R-F if Cox/Mihocek miss.

I already have Ceglar in the forward line. Thanks. (y)

No real talk of Goldy.

I am an owner and with the shorter qtrs I don't see him coming off the field at all in most games. Has barely missed a game for 10 seasons and seems to be over his personal issues of a few years ago. 136 to start the season and I cant see why he wont average 120 plus. Is it just the price that is putting people off? Any love for him at all?

He is a good ruck but for around 90k more you are losing out on around 400+ points and one less reliable Captain option.

Started Goldy last season over Gawn and very disappointed that I didn’t hold Goldy for the whole season, instead opting to replace him with Gawn at the byes.

Among the best tap rucks in the league consistently over the past 5-6 seasons boasting a HTA rate over 30% for 5 consecutive seasons from 2015-2019. In conjunction with his ability to cover the ground and amass above average disposals for his position due to a high TOG%, it’s hard to see Goldy dropping to the low 100 range and will likely stay around his usual output of the high 100’s to mid 110 range.

The price is a large deterrence for most due to the bevy of appealing mid priced rucks offering value and ability to spread the funds over multiple lines decreasing the reliance on onfield rookies and iffy job security. Also, the fixation with Grundy and Gawn and the tired notion to avoid all/most players once they reach the 30’s, plays a massive role in his current ownership or appeal as an upgrade target.

Anyone looking to actually bring Gawn in this weekend?

With two trades per week across all rounds it will be tough to find the cash to move from Naismith to Gawn at some point in the season. It will be a two-week planning cycle and there always seems to be fires to put out elsewhere.
Makes me nervous not having the big man for maybe half the season.

I’m very nervous about Gawn going crazy in the next four weeks and becoming unreachable. Almost wish that Naismith hadn’t scored 121 to give an excuse to bring Gawn in but can’t now forgo the Naismith cash train. I have entertained moving him to R3 though.

I’m also looking at moving Naismith to be bench, and bring Gawn in. Don’t like the idea of carrying this much money on the bench but like you said Gawn could go nuts over the next month. I guess teams named will determine this decision for me.

Yeah it's a big call this week for structures, I'm in the Naismith boat somehow, actually had him at R3 and Gawn at R2 going into round 1 but the team morphed with Naismith's score looking me in the face going into the Sunday. That's also how I ended up with Yeo in my team but also Ceglar at F3.

Anyway, what's done is done so no doubt a long few days working out whether it's worth queezing in Gawn. Under the new scoring structure he could have a few 150+ plus scores.

Yeah I’m set on Gawn in (this was pre Naismith injury news as well).

I just don’t want the headache of no Gawn this season and my biggest excuse for not starting no longer applies (ie he was underdone in the preseason).

Yeah Gawn being underdone was definitely the main concern with not starting him for me too. As a Naismith owner, I reckon I'll be bringing Gawn in as well.
