I would have thought the objective is to replicate what would have happened, had the game been played, as closely as possible.

All we are trying to do is get as close as we can to that outcome.

That was your choice to do that, and it comes down to bad luck. Can't say using average scores based on 2 games data is entirely fair either, if it was later in the season it would be preferable, but players with 1 massive game skew their average significantly at this point.
There's no fair solution...

How fair is it if someone had the c on Whitfield and gets bailed out over a guy who's locked down macrae 136?

Can't do averages and allow people to lock in viney or gawn as cap risk free.

Fairest is to do what they did in the past, best 18 scoring like the byes.
There’s no truely fair option. It’s just one of those things that can’t be foreseen - like the lights going off in that BBL game. Not everyone is going to be happy.

Averages seems ‘more’ unfair to me though.
Averages would definitely be unfair too. As I said giving everyone a draw is the only neutral solution. People gain advantages in every other outcome.

Grundy, Adams, Hanners, Noble, Cameron in this game ?

Don’t know what I was thinking but took away my loops (Noble, Cameron) because I was concerned about ESS/Mel donuts but not sure if there was any gain...the opposite actually.

There should have been some guide lines given to us, as this scenario was highly possible, as it recently happened with NRL.

I think they mentioned in the press conference Essendon players were being tested Tuesday. Not sure of how long it takes to get results back, but I don't see a game being possible until Thursday at the earliest.

“An official with the World Health Organization has stated that it appears to be “rare” that an asymptomatic individual can pass COVID to someone else” June 9th 2020

I'm clutching at straws. Players are testing positive in sports competition all over the world. It's going to happen. I just feel a bit sorry for Conor. He was homesick already. Now he has to quarantine again. And the nuffies are at him and the EFC as if he started the virus.
