@PlaymakerX It's when you trade out a player who hits max value (say if Neale hit 750k) and then had a huge breakeven. You trade him down to a fallen premo mid freeing up about 200-250k to use elsewhere. It's basically trading 1 large premium for 2 others.
Slingshot was more to do with the byes. It comes from skating rinks where skaters use their momentum to throw a team mate forward. You trade a high priced premium or stepping stone who hasn't had the bye to a good value premium who has had their bye to give you an extra premium score during the byes.

Would there be any Freo supporters on here that could give their opinion on Serong's job security? I'm looking at going early on either Serong or Hill this week to gain funds for Simpkin. Bit hesitant to grab Hill given his recent injury history and the fact I have Bennell already.
Serong looked impressive in the preseason games and is the rookie priced player I am most bullish on but would love to hear the view of someone with a little more knowledge.

Is it worth trading Pickett - > Hamill or just hold & hope he returns soon ?

Just feel with Bennell , Cameron , Pickett not playing this week + Williams (need him for VC/C loop) my ability to generate $$$ is going to stall quickly.

My other players on my bench are KPP (2nd game) , Mahony (on debut) , Noble (almost maxed out) , C Taylor.

T Brown possibly dropped for Treloar in Round 5.

Any advice appreciated.

Pickett will be back and by holding him you stagger when your rookies ripen.

Pickett is thought of very highly about what he can bring to the side in terms of flexibility.

Bit hard to calculate how much cash he is due to make if he misses a couple of games it might not be until Round 9/10 before he hits $ 300k , half the season has gone.

Need some advice, if anyone could give me a second opinion, would be much appreciated

Sturt to

- D Butler: -42 breakeven, even with 2x 80 scores will go up 55k (and most likely 100k in two weeks). Wouldn’t envision as a keeper, more of a slingshot up to a premium in any 3 positions around mid season. It’s this week or never. Leaves me about 180k in cash after trade. Still hesitant due to 109k+ in value already gained. May waste a trade if stinks up
- Petracca: Would envision as a keeper till the end, data suggests he’s in for a big year. Isn’t likely to jump too much in value (so could still pick up next week). Will leave about 60k+ in cash after trade

(I’ve already traded Simpkin in, so he’s not an option)

I would go the Petracca option there. He’s still relatively cheap for a forward premium.

If Petracca pulls out a game like he did in Marsh would almost match Butler's profits anyway. Was on Trac last game till the tag was thrown on him.

Serong - why, SCS spellchecker keeps changing his name to "Strong".

Seriously, Serong is a jet, no.2 to Matty Rowell. Hard to say on JS and point scoring given he may play half forward, intra club matches he has stood out apparently. Hill gets named and still doesn't make the team. In a year like this, we cannot afford to carry injury prone players, would look elsewhere from Hill. Hill needs a big score and could suck everyone in, only to be injured next game.

I had Serong in starting team prior to teams being named. Needs 65-70 to justify his price. Will bring in Fyfe over Neale this week (for Pickett) so I have enough funds hopefully to grab Serong and a fwd premium next week (will be touch and go), thats how I much I rate him.

Same height as Rowell, apparently extra 9kg (don't believe that, Rowell listed at 74kg.).

Haha if he can look half as strong as Rowell he shouldn't have any trouble holding his spot. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Good choice with Fyfe... I'm unfortunately going to have to pass on him as I want Simpkin this week and then should be able to grab Bont next week.
I think I will go Serong as I'm more confident with him than the Philp, McAdam and Mahony types unseen. Will likely grab one of them next week.
Cheers for the reply ?

Yeah, Serong vs Philp I expect is the decision next week, could be a double downgrade. Trading Green doesn't look great, although 67% TOG and varying opportunities in mids make Green a hard choice to bring back at $190k next week. Have Mahoney, hope he does ok. Traded Bont out, has North and Melb in next 3 weeks which may see the attention come back his way.

I was lucky enough to have held onto Green with the hope he would get another go and had him on field.
Yeah I also traded Bont before Round 2 but if he runs around like he did on Thursday night good luck to any taggers

Be careful judging a player who was not tagged who usually gets attention. Similar to Sloane in prior years, although Bont has a better floor when he gets attention. Most players when given attention can fall away, Bont has a beautiful penetrating kick however under pressure this can be impacted. it is the Cripps/Fyfe who rely on inside game who typically can handle the heat a bit better. Neale and Bont more susceptible.

Typically tagging doesn't kick in to round 5. Bont attraction will come in last half of fixtures I expect, as he had a poor fixture to start with taggers and this may fall away in 2H20.

$ 437k which I plan to use in Rd 6/7 to upgrade 2 of Brown , McInerney , Noble , Starcevich to hopefully 2 fallen mid premiums.

May need some of that to bridge the Butler - > Whitfield gap.
