Williamson or Hill to replace Sturt? Can’t quite make up my mind.

Anyone care to weigh in?

Tempted to go early on Taylor to allow double upgrade this week. (Looking likely double down next week is on the cards with rookie debuts and Green)

Option 1
Long -> Simpkin
Taylor -> Trac

Option 2
Long -> Neale / Fyfe
Sturt -> rookie

I’m torn as I don’t have reliable Captain options (have the C currently sitting in Cripps ?? after VC Macrae rather than Grundy)

Any suggestions?

Struggling with a similar decision. Hill obviously has the higher ceiling, but gee can he stay in the park for 4-6 games to make some coin? Wouldn’t be surprised to see Freo rest him one out of three games to try and get him through the season.

By all reports Williamson has ok js and will be a slow burn. Unlikely to hurt you if you don’t grab him. I’m leaning towards Williamson at this stage unless I do a sideways (I.e Wingard) to bring in Simpkin.

Hill has had multiple false starts this year, would only consider once he is named for 2nd game, has not been withdrawn prior to game and warm up's have finished and 5 mins prior to bounce start..........then I would pause and wait another 3 mins!

Williamson for me this week. Had also had back issues in the past, they focused one rehab all of last year.

Round 4 Trades
Lachie Whitfield ---> Jy Simpkin
Sam Sturt ---> Tom Williamson

Have decided to get rid of the deadwood in Sturt. Likely means I pass on Tommy Green next week in favour of a cheaper rookie, which will enable me to grab Petracca as my first official upgrade.

Need some advice, if anyone could give me a second opinion, would be much appreciated

Sturt to

- D Butler: -42 breakeven, even with 2x 80 scores will go up 55k (and most likely 100k in two weeks). Wouldn’t envision as a keeper, more of a slingshot up to a premium in any 3 positions around mid season. It’s this week or never. Leaves me about 180k in cash after trade. Still hesitant due to 109k+ in value already gained. May waste a trade if stinks up
- Petracca: Would envision as a keeper till the end, data suggests he’s in for a big year. Isn’t likely to jump too much in value (so could still pick up next week). Will leave about 60k+ in cash after trade

(I’ve already traded Simpkin in, so he’s not an option)
When you describe Butler, the word “keeper”was missing,

I went for Hill as he is due a change of luck and can link with Brander in the defence.

5 minutes before lockout I traded Whitfield to Simpkin

I just hope my Hill trade last longer than my Howe trade (Rnd 3 JKelly/Howe)

But he doesn’t need to be kept for the season as he is a 2-3 week proposition for non Whitfield owners or even a downgrade from a failed premium to help utilise the cash in other positions. If we avoid these types this season and continually target the high end premiums then it will likely mean that you are left with undesirable rookies occupying onfield spots or poor cover if there is a recurrence of the events of RD3.

Despite all the rookie and knee-injury carnage I'm sticking the course and shifting NicNat out for Pittonet, which also cements in Whitfield for Simpkin. Leaves a nice chunk of change in the war chest but Howe going down means I'll probably have to go for a DEF premo earlier than planned and hold onto Naismith for another week.

Have read all the debate on Butler since posting my proposed (now completed) trades yesterday.

Birchall & Pickett to D Butler & Williamson.

Butler for me while acknowledging his history and reasons to not select him, which actually stopped me from bringing him in last week.

BE -42
In a good patch of form
In a new team that actively sought him out with a new coach and game plan which has him higher up the pecking order than in his past team.

Might be proven wrong but in his price range (even after his rise last week) he ticks all the boxes.

At best which i don't rate a strong chance he is a season long keeper at F6-8

My expectation is that he makes me cash to enable a premo upgrade in a few weeks time

At worst he scores at the same level as Birchall so there is the loss of a trade

For me more upside than downside on this occasion

Is it worth trading Pickett - > Hamill or just hold & hope he returns soon ?

Just feel with Bennell , Cameron , Pickett not playing this week + Williams (need him for VC/C loop) my ability to generate $$$ is going to stall quickly.

My other players on my bench are KPP (2nd game) , Mahony (on debut) , Noble (almost maxed out) , C Taylor.

T Brown possibly dropped for Treloar in Round 5.

Any advice appreciated.
Similar situation, but I have decided against using the second trade and will tred water. I don't trust the rookies on the bubble this week - especially when we have an upcoming second wave of rookies with way better fantasy pedigree in Green/Serong/Mahony/Xerri etc.
The trade will be far more valuable come round 15/16/17 when everyone runs out of trades.

Yeah I might just pull the pin and if Pickett returns next week sobeit.

Have had Mahony from the start so that could be a bonus if he can consolidate a spot.

Will monitor the others.

Too many are appearing at the same time others are being dropped and stalling $$$ generation.

Hopefully can start doing some upgrades soon
