Fawad Ahmed bowled pretty well ending up with 3 wickets.
Alex Hales (94) and Michael Lumb (43) got ENG off to a flyer, but the Aussie's did a decent job in keeping them under 200 I thought.
Now time for the Finch and Warner show, hopefully they go alright.

Some BIG ODI selection news...

BREAKING NEWS
Cricket Australia has just announced that David Warner will be dropped from its ODI squad for the five one-dayers against England, with Mitchell Starc to also return home with an injury.
Commenting on Warner’s omission from the Australian ODI squad, Selector and Coach Darren Lehmann said: "David has been left out of the Australian ODI squad for this tour purely due to his recent lack of form in this format. By his own admission, David would acknowledge that unfortunately he hasn’t scored the weight of runs that he would like recently in one-day cricket for his country. Like all selection matters, it was a tough decision, but like all players he understands the situation and knows he needs to get back to playing RYOBI Cup and making a heap of runs that we can’t ignore. I spoke with David at length about what he needs to do and I’ve been impressed with his attitude since I’ve come into the Australian setup."
Commenting on Starc, Australian cricket team doctor Peter Brukner said: "Mitch reported some lower back pain in recent days so we have decided it’s best for him to return to Australia for further assessment and investigation."
The final Australian squad of 15 for the ODIs is: Michael Clarke (c), George Bailey (vc), Fawad Ahmed, Nathan Coulter-Nile, James Faulkner, Aaron Finch, Josh Hazlewood, Phil Hughes, Mitchell Johnson, Shaun Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Clint McKay, Adam Voges, Matthew Wade, Shane Watson

This is the sort of stuff that we don't want to hear...

Australian captain Michael Clarke has said he is 'no guarantee' of being fit enough to play in the first Ashes Test, which begins on November 21.
"There's certainly no guarantee at this stage," Clarke said at the national team's pre-season camp in Sydney.
"It's hard for me to say that because I'm trying my best not to look at it like that. I'm always positive and if they ask me, I'll say I'll be fit in a week's time.
"But you ask Alex (Kountouris) who knows me very well, and he'd say there'd be doubt I won't be right. Making sure I'm doing everything I can to give myself the best chance ... plenty of rehab and recovery getting strength back in the areas that support my back. It's a lot of hard work but I'm willing to do the work to make sure I'm right for that first Test.
"Where I sit right now is I don't know when I'll be back playing cricket. We have no idea how long it's going to take. But in Australia I've got the physio in Sydney I've been working with since I was 17, I've got the machine, the medics machine that's helped me stay on the park for as long as I have through my career, and I'm in consistent contact with Alex Kountouris who will fly back and forth from Melbourne to Sydney to see me and make sure I'm improving."

And then a bit more...

Australian fast-bowler James Pattinson has also said that he will definitely miss the first two Ashes Tests as he continues his recovery from a back stress fracture, but is hopeful of being available for the third Test at the WACA Ground.
"I'm not even running yet which is not great," Pattinson said.
"I get a scan in two weeks time which is a 12 week scan to determine whether the fracture has healed or not. Go from there, get results back from scan start running, should be fine.
"My back feels fine at the moment, I have no pain. Just a bit of a long process. I'm probably a month off bowling.
"I won't be back for the first Test, don't think I'll be right for the second ... but all things going well I could push for that WACA Test. If it's a bit green we could play four quicks up there, but I'll know more when I start bowling.
"I'm probably rushing a bit if I'm trying to get back for that first Test and last thing I want is for that to happen again and push my body too far and it's hard enough going through it once without going through it again. Long term is where I'm looking."

And then a bit more...
I am an old bloke, 54. I grew up anticipating the footy season and the Ashes, Aussie kids did that then.

This is the most unanticipated lack lustre coming of an Ashes series in this country in my lifetime.

Ryobi Cup One Dayers on GEM

Just realized that Channel 9 have the state one dayers on their GEM station.
Anyone keen on seeing players pushing to make the one day international team for next World Cup might see one or two likely types in these games. Finch playing today but I think run out earlier. Vic Bushrangers look like they beating South Australia right now. Gotta go out so can't see more than a few minutes, but those missing their sporting diet may find something there.

Nick Maddison is the young batsman to watch fro NSW.
Just been included into the Australian T20 squad after a great recent for with Australia A.
If he can make a few runs you never know he has to be very close to being the next youngster in line for a shot a test cricket.

We got our worst Test batting line-up in three decades but for the One Day format World Cup we are building an ideal batch of players suited to being a big chance to win it.
Warner doing well in Ryobi Cup, another 12 months of Finch at international level along with the likes Faulkner and Maxwell as all rounders means we are every chance of beating all the other teams. One dayers and T20's are just crazy in India as the grounds are so small and so easy to hit boundaries even when mi****ting.
India needed a big score a few days ago and done it easy then yesterday Aussie were gone then Faulkner hits 30 off one over and turns game on it's head.
We needed 44 of last 3 overs with 4 wickets left. Faulkner went bang for a little bit and we win with 4 balls to spare. Crazy stuff in India.
Aussies lead 2-1 with 4 matches to go.
Meanwhile the Ryobi Cup sees Warner and Wade and even Cameron White finding form at home.
Domestic one dayers on GEM and international ones in India I guess are on Foxtel.

It has certainly been pleasing to see some guys in the test frame scoring some decent runs in the Ryobi Cup.
Guys like Steve Smith, Dave Warner, Matthew Wade, Usman Khawaja, and even Cam White and Michael Klinger. Then a young keeper-batsman who has only played 2 games in James Peirson from QLD has back-to-back half centuries. Some decent signs that we can only hope leads to future test success.

Think it's time to give George Bailey a baggy green, what a player he is becoming. I had my doubts a couple of years ago but he has turned it on now at the international level. Get him in our top order at 5 or 6, depending on where Steve Smith bats.

Has not really impressed this tournament. Vics are playing NSW right now on GEM in knockout final. Winner plays Queensland on weekend in the final. The context of this tournament happening for mine is seeing likely players to show they might be part of the team for next season World Cup in Australia. Vics off to a good start... 0 for 163 in 22 nd over. Dan Christian hitting out now. Maddison will have his chance to impress when NSW bat later.

Looking like Vics will set NSW a target of over 350 to win. Turns out Maddison dropped Christian earlier in innings. Costly!!!

With Warner in NSW team on this ground, we cannot afford to let him be in for too long.
Wade, Cameron White and Hussey need to make sure the score gets to around 360 +... 380 would be nice.....

Ton up for Dan Christian, only took him 71 balls. Bobby Quiney not far away on 86 off 92 balls.
Dead right Oz, Dave Warner could quite easily knock off a double ton himself on North Sydney.
