With the possibility of games being 4 to 5 days apart, I reckon trading to get as many 'live bodies' as possible in one's squad would be a wise move.

The other could be true too, your non playing fringe players may rotate thru! (Fingers crossed on the Cameron, Williams, Cavarra, Brown, Rivers, Brander types who I have too many of )

But then won't those 'live bodies' just be rotated through as quickly as those that aren't?

Even quicker perhaps in the case of borderline rookies?

I mainly meant as is I am trying to get rid of all my dead wood in my squad, those who have little chance of playing soon.

All week was going Starc & Budarick to Whitfield and Aarts, however the fact Starc was playing in the first game led me to keeping him and waiting for team drops today.
This would seem to have been an error.
That leaves me with the closest I could do to my original thoughts being Budarick and Noble to Whitfield and Aarts but, like many I probably need to shore up my Defs and after a bit of time am thinking Budarick and Rowell to Whitfield and Hurn is the way I will go.
Hurn is taken on faith in his history. Should he revert to the mean he will have to average circa 100 ppg from here on and returning to WA he is still capable of this.
I am in the minority with Ridley but personally don't think he has enough history to chase at his current price and scoring position.
Other defs considered Sheppard, Mills, Laird and from left field Steven May.

Interesting little article about Sheppard in today's West Australian... Says Champion Data stats reveal he has taken his game to another level this season. Has conceded just 2 goals in his direct match-up's this season, 1 goal to Charlie Cameron and 1 goal to Papley.

Champion Data rates Sheppard this year as Elite in both marks (7.4 per game) and spoils (4.2 per game).

He is also the most efficient kick in the whole league for players who have had at least 30 kicks, with 49 of his 54 kicks effective.

Shepard's 90.7% efficiency is narrowly ahead of Hurn (90.5%) and Blake Hardwick (90.3%).

I personally reckon he is one of the best mid sized defenders in the comp. Very underrated.

IMO, I would only look at him if I had one trade left and had to fill D6 with only $422,500 left in kitty. And even then I'd probably pick Gresh over him for a bit less.

I was thinking he could be a "swing for the fences" type of pick - clearly has the ability to score heavily and the opportunity is obviously there now more than it has ever been, but no history of sustained heavy scoring and real concerns over how Richmond will go over the next 3-4 matches with so many best 22 players out is the concern.

Yeah, fair call mate. Anything could happen this year. If you like him, go with your gut, this is the year to listen to your heart instead of your head I reckon.

I'm light on for Premo Defenders, so I'd take others ahead of both Hurn & Sheppard... So I really don't know which way I'd go if I was choosing between just those two. Hurn has the proven history but he is 33yo in a couple of months and with a highly compressed schedule about to start... There's a chance Hurn may have a game off, like a lot of older players around the league. Also in a bit of a form slump.

Sheppard doesn't have the history behind him, but has been building these last 4 years and is in great form currently. He's younger so more likely to play every game in this compressed section of the season.

Looks like bringing in a premium defender has become very important this week on the back of the poor showing from Starcevich and the complete lack of decent rookie options.

I have decided to go down that route too. Was initially planning on bringing in Whitfield this week but will be bringing in his teammate Haynes instead.

Haynes and Maynard both appear to be very good picks this season.

Quite hard to split and they probably average similarly from here but I like Haynes’ hair more than Maynard’s so he gets the nod.
