I may just be grabbing one BB this week. Rankine is obviously talented but reminded me a bit of Wingard, i.e., an impact player who needs to score 2 or 3 "well timed" goals to score well, Rankine was fortuitous this round and benefited nicely.
Sam Simpson on the other hand seemed to play a more well rounded effective game for his good score, which gives him a slight edge for me.

Obviously there are 4 very good rookies this week so I am pettifogging based on a massive sample size of only one game , but right here, right now, I think Simpson comes in first for me, unless Scott drops him.
What a seemingly unprecedented, maybe, never to be repeated year for rookie players after only 6 rounds.

Seems like it will be a double downgrade week for most! Trick will be which one to pass on......

Not sure whether to go double down or one up/one down - I have Rankine already. I could go

Starcevich / C Taylor > Day / Yeo and miss out on Simpson ($235k itb) or
Starcevich / C Taylor > Day / Simpson

Any thoughts folks?

Just looking at the basic stats:

Simpson had 27 disposals 13 contested and 5 tackles! More than just a flashy score.
Rankine kicked 3 goals, won't do that every week.
Day had 16 disposals with 7 contested and 10 kicks, Solid game. As a comparison Ridley hasn't had more than 18 disposals in a game and is averaging about 5 contested. His supercoach scoring is off the charts at the moment.
McPherson only had 9 disposals and no goals. His 76 might be a highlight.

Scoring wise I would go: Simpson, Day, Rankine, McPherson.
Job Security I would go: Rankine....................................................?
If I wanted all of them over the next 2 rounds I would go, Simpson and Rankine this week, Day and McPherson the following.

Will be popular inclusions into most teams..
Should not have logged on.

Now Heeney gone for the season and Sloane for a month.

Hopefully Cripps is all OK.

Had 23 playing last round so now down to 21.

Why try planning to improve my team , half a step forward for 6 steps back.

Simpson will be interesting , Scott was saying their is another 3-4 that are close to playing as well.

Steven expected back , will need to see injury report for Duncan and Sparkle.

Simpson could be another one that just hangs around for 3-4 games.

Rankine seems a no brainer if his body holds together.

Not sure how Burgoyne & Scrimshaw impact Day or how far away Impey is.

Wonder if they have a auto trade button ?

I'm not 100% on Simpson and Day. One or two quieter games will be enough for Scott and Clarkson to dump them.
If they make me 100k in a couple of weeks then maybe they've done their job.....it's not ideal, but I can live with it I think. Simpson and Day just need to be worth more to me than Budarick, McInerney and Rivers when they get dropped. Good scores to start at leastgives them a chance (although they'll probably do an Aarts and ruin that....all I needed was another 60, not a 28.....)

For me Rankine is a lock for Long. As you have mentioned lots lining up for the midfield at the cats, you would assume Stevens will start Constable and Clarke. I might move to one up one down for this week. Will see if rivers and brander return this week. Assume McInnerny returns with the injuries at the swans. As always plans will go up in flames once teams announced.

My take is option A is best short term feeling, option B is best long term. Also depends on how many upgrades you have left, if it's 6+ definitely B.

These are the exact two trades I'm leaning towards at the moment.

Ceglar looks cooked and has Gawn this week. He just isn't a viable pick while he almost equally shares the ruck duties with McEvoy which he's done the last two weeks.
Hawthorn have lost a KPF early in each of the last 2 games (Lewis & Patton). What if McEvoy has only got ruck time as a response to covering the injury up forward? Would he have remained in defence if they didn’t have those mid-game injuries?

I’m also weighing up whether to cut Ceglar loose (high breakeven and game against Gawn this week), but his “ruckman” draw should open up after this week (will have played Gawn, Grundy & Goldstein) plus we should be prioritising getting rookies off field at this stage of the season instead of trading “premiums”. Otherwise it could put us further behind the overall leaders who are able squeeze in a genuine downgrade/upgrade this week instead.

You're spot on. Basically your exact post is what I'm currently discussing with a work colleague who also has Ceglar.

It's a real tough one, can he turn it around after Gawn this week or is this what we're going to get week in, week out with Big Boy sharing the ruck duties?

I'm so torn and probably won't make up my mind until just before the trades for this round need to be completed.

Ceglar's stats are not always great, even against other poor rucks:

Got smashed by Stanley and Mummy who are not exactly top line rucks. McEvoy has more than doubled his score the two weeks where they have split ruck duties. His poor scores have corresponded with the games where the Hawks got smashed - Geelong, GWS and Collingwood.

Hoping the Hawks drop him which will make the decision much more straightforward, but as someone who was bullish on him this season (my first team back in December included Ceglar), I am strongly considering ditching him.

Interesting. Seen conflicting opinions on how Simpson‘s price will change given he already had a 6 game history with a 28 as his last (and only) score in 2018.

Be nice to know for sure as some estimates have him increasing less than Rankine (similar to Day / McPherson) if they all pump out 70’s this week.

Be nice to know for sure when weighing up which of the rookies to pass on this week but I’m not sure how.
