When the final list is released for SC, have a look at who the coaches pick in their teams. That will give you an idea of total spend on defence
Haven't ever gone in-depth into supercoach or AFL preseason as i will be this year. So could you explain your comment. Is it when the AFL coaches lodge their full team sheets?

The SC final list of AFL players for 2014 should come out sometime in December.
Then, go through this forum and you will see a number of SC coaches list their teams but do note that they will keep chopping and changing until the first game of Round 1. However, you'll get an idea of what people are spending on defenders.

I personally will be spending as little as possible (<2 million). Premium defenders are ****.
If Mitchell, Bartel, Walker, and McVeigh gets the DDP, it's a whole new ball game.

I do tend to agree av1jme.

But the problem I see is that more than likely their high cost.

If Goddard, Bartel, Walker and Mitchell all get DPP they will all cost $540k+, which is going to make it very difficult to get any more than 2 in your starting lineup.

Unless major sacrifices are made else where.

North Melb.
I reckon Hurn could be a really good unique down back.

Goddard and suckling are the locks.

Im not crash hot on mcveigh, bartel and walker. The first 2 are getting old and walker is unproven to have 2 good years in a row.

Wouldnt go more than 2 500k players down back. And they'd have to be dpp to be considered.
Plenty of discounted buys to fill the gaps.
Just need to find this years goodes, vlaustin to complete the backline.
Got my eye on hurn too.

Considering West Coast's draw, Hurn is close to a lock for me.

I think we might be able to fit in more cash cow rookies in the Mid and make up the scores by getting the super mid-defenders.
We will know more in coming months

Not picking anyone who hasn't done a full preseason in defense. Also 500k is to much for most players. Heres hoping Lids gets DPP

Tony armstrong, rebounding defender just what the pies have lost with shaw and johnson.
he played 7 games with the swans for a 50ish av.
another to the watch list

Not 100% sure that I would be chucking him on my watch list.
What/who I would be having a closer look at is Seedsman and Marley Williams.
