Unique picks is what separates you from the pack.
Is the difference of a top 10 finish and a top 5000 finish.

The unique picks of Jarrad Redden and Johnathon Griffin in my rucks at round 1 in 2013 screwed me 2 trades. I read somewhere that they will improve their output because of certain factors. There is unique and there is unique. I found out that you need to choose wisely when it comes to Unique picks first hand with those two. But luckily im not stupid anymore (i hope) and will not be going HUGE POD. I would rather stay with the safe picks and not try find the diamond in the rough.

1 thing I learnt last season near the end was to sometimes go with your gut and not the crowd. Nothing like shooting up the ranks on the back of your gut decision while the rest loose ground

Looking at Dimmawits' initial team, he certainly didn't pick any glaring POD's. Cloke, Wines and Mundy were perhaps the closest to going against the mainstream.

His biggest POD was his trading during the season, not his initial 'unique' or 'POD' players.

No Birchall when he blitzed early. No Griffen when he blitzed mid-season. No Walker until Round 17.

He picked Malceski as a backline POD late in the season, but that's about it.

This! Exactly right. I Dont believe in PODs for the most part, you should always pick the best player available in my opinion. Not picking someone because a lot of other teams have them is a crazy notion to me. If your top 10 and trying to make up points i understand, but for the majority of us it doesnt make any sense to handicap yourself like that.

Yup. My rule of thumb is that if I pick a player who is priced over $500,000, then they are staying in my team, unless of course LTIs or hefty suspensions.

Yeah too risky and apparently he only won one of 40 something marking contests he was involved in this year so not very appealing at all. Also if he wasn't best 22 at Essendon, I don't see how he will make it in at Freo.

Ross Lyon may want him try help out Pav and Mayne as another big body. Might become the next Jack Anthony and remain in Freo's seconds lol

Absolutely correct Johno. At a guess the backline is what it may be about next year. From the flavour of the posts I have seen here, 400-450k defenders are the flavour as premiums, aside from Goddard, Gibbs and Lids if he gets DPP. Pick the correct backline premiums as the season progresses may set you above the pack.

I'm not sure how I'll avoid them but I can see a Buddy/NicNat combo burning me next year. Logic, stats, price, you name it..all ingredients for an unhappy supercoach.

You're right, he has a decent SC record, but I'd prefer to wait for that inevitable price drop, than start with him.

Have considered but like Rowsus said, doubt i'll start with him. Norths midfield will only get better so the delivery to Petrie should improve aswell as an easy draw, very tempting but not cheap.
