Gone from 4k to 20k in rankings over past three weeks... blaming no Gawn (clearly an array of other issues too).

I won't be going Pitt > Gawn this week, as I simply won't be making up any ground on all those I have lost ground on over that 3 week period. Rather continue going backwards attempting to make up ground, than overpay to stop bleeding.

Trade 1:
Townsend to Smith
Trade 2:
Budarick to anyone... just can't decide who that premium should be:

Forward: Greenwood and Petracca seem to be a similar conundrum to Gawn above (albeit priced at a reasonable level). However stand out best two options - already have Walters, Whitfield.

Mid: Treloar maybe, JKelly to refind some form, Danger.... already have Neale, Macrae, Mitchell, Cripps and Tkelly.

If i can't decide I will end up going back to the one certainty.. Pitt to Gawn! haha
I think you have to get rid of Pittonet whether it's Gawn or not. His price will fall like a lead balloon. I also don't think choosing another ruckmen now assumes you miss out on Gawn for the season. Although it looks unlikely you might still get him under $700k at some point for the run home.

Jack Steele is still value.
Never averaged 100... not sure he is going to sustain that 120 level.

Likely be a good buy if he could go 110 from here, however that is still a huge jump for him. Was 50/50 on that call..

I was planning Cripps to Treloar next round, the Carlton team dynamic seems to have changed a lot this year with Cripps being less of an atlas.
Don't disagree.

However not in any position to sideways trade an under priced Cripps. At 520k I would argue he is still value, and just as likely to go 110 as Steele!

Analytical thinking process versus Critical thinking process

Cripps, b/e 168 to Simpson, b/e -80
Pittonett, b/e 133 to Max

Losing way too many matches to opponents with the (C) on Max.
Thinking outside the square, need to get the beard in my team anyway I can.

Changed my mind and as things stand:

Williamson/Serong >> McPherson/Bazlenka

I hope McP keeps his place this week.
Also prefer to keep Buda & Starc due to their handy DPP so it's goodbye to the other 2.
Don't mind playing Bailey in the mids for a few weeks as my forward rookies in Rankine, Taylor and Devon Smith are doing OK.

Looks ugly but worth considering. Wait for the R9-11 fixtures and if the Blues have a bye during that period, could be worth it

Is the Egg on anyone's radar? I'm thinking starc to eggmolesse-smith, he seems to have s good short term role and i pocket 20k. Or am i chasing points.

Other trade is pitt to Grundy
If he can average 80 for about 6 weeks surely he’s a good pick up? I think he’s capable of that as his role seems nice and he’s a great user

At this stage I'm looking at;

OUT: Long, T Brown
IN: Bailey Smith, S Simpson

Don't really like bringing in a rookie after a price rise but he looks to be a great option who will make some quick cash. JS looks a lot better too with another two injuries for the Cats in Selwood and Clark on the weekend.
Not keen on Mayes instead? Another good game and his price will sky rocket. Surprised at the lack of love for him in here, and suspect his JS is very good with injuries at Port. He looked very composed all game long.

Simpson was very average to half-time last weekend FWIW. I'm still not fully sold on him as a Cats man but see the appeal given his BE...

Keen to hear others thoughts on Mayes vs Simpson.

Hmm, definitely something to think about. A little bit concerning that it took until round 7 for him to debut though..

Re Gawn, he costs a lot but there's more money coming in with good rookies
I think Marlion Pickett, Simpson and Rankine can all get to $360,000 + in price so there you have $750,000 profit .
Won't those 3 then need to be upgraded though as well ? (Rankine could be a season long premium)

Doubt many would have them in their benches to downgrade when the time arrives.

Yes but I think with all the good rookies we've had eg Rowell ect there is more money than usual so we should almost be able to complete the teams with premos and missing Gawn would hurt imo.
He's only $80,000 over his starting price.

Seriously thinking of :-

Pittonet - > Jackson (or De Koning/Draper if either named)

If we get Best 18 from Round 9 onwards , I might not necessarily need a R2 and actually give me some $$$ to allow me a decent M7 & M8 (eg Parker)

My mids at the moment are :-

Jelly , Cripps , McGrath , Yeo , Whitfield & D Smith and they all look like M8/M9 at the moment.

I'm in the same boat as you and am leaning Mayes. Do you need to play him on field each week? I've just got question marks as to whether Simpson can keep finishing games strongly after slow starts, Mayes was on 87 SC at 3QT on the weekend.

Good Rookies ??? (aside from Rowell)

I am confused , only had 9 that had made $ 100k + after Round 6 (4 of those DNP Round 7 & 2 lost money) , haven't checked after this round.

Seems we almost have to make 2.5 downgrades to get a $ 550k + premium as a upgrade.

I must be missing something ?

Jackson is a trap, he could easily score 28 next week.
