It’s easier for me to say as an owner, but I’m surprised more are not looking at alternatives.

By my count he is priced at 150+, which I believe no player has ever sustained over a full season. I know it’s not a full season you need him for, but that’s a compelling stat in my view.

Personally I’d be inclined to look for better value elsewhere - at Goldy types - and assess if I could make good use of the loose change. If I could, I’d strongly consider that path.

If you can’t, I can understand taking Gawn despite his price, especially if Pitto at R2 with a high BE is “forcing” you to act this week.
I agree with you in principle, however, there doesn't seem to be any viable 'value' Ruck around (Goldy & English are no longer value at their current price).

You could argue, how about a ROB/Witts/NN types and used the cash to upgrade elsewhere...? Personally, none of those options instil me with much confidence (maybe ROB...maybe) and you're still giving up 20-30+/game on Gawn and the option to Captain him. I just don't have confidence that one can find an alternate player elsewhere (with the saved cash) that would boast that kind of a gap.

My biggest lesson learnt in my relatively short tenure at SC is just don't mess around with your Rucks, especially so when we're blessed with 2 of the all time great SC-Rucks going around at the moment. Get them both in your team ASAP and just sit back and enjoy their craft each and every week...(y)

I could go:
A) King and Berry to Simpson and Petracca/Simpkin
or
B) Starcevich and Berry to Simpson and Houston/ Ryan

Option A FWD: Whitfield, Dusty, Butler, Smith, Petracca (or Simpkin), Rankine, (Bewley, Aart)
Option B DEF: Ridley, Docherty, Saad, Sicily, Doedee, Ryan (or Houston), (Hill and Day)
Both options: MID: Neale, Mitchell, Steele, Macrae, Cripps, Anderson, Pickett, Simpson (Mcinerney, Bennell, Budarick)
RUC: Gawn, Grundy, (Comben)
Both options will leave me with about 30k in the kitty

Wise words, could not agree more (y)

I try to avoid watching Melbourne games, due to them perforing so poorly

But I watched the last 2 quarters v Hawthorn and could not beleive how much Gawn and Trac kept bobbing up. Watching Gawn run around running amuck is so much more enjoyable when he's in your SC team, take it from me :D

Thinking of going Budarick & Noble (I do worry about his JS) to B Smith & Sicily which would complete my backline.

Allows me to play Simpkin/Whitfield/ B Smith in the mids & move them forward once Taylor & Rankine have maxed out. Want to keep all my demon & bombers players with them already having their bye.

Leaves my team looking like this :-

out of these 4 players which one should I get?
-Dangerfield
-Greenwood
-Brayshaw
-Menegola

Or do you suggest a different but good scorer for my Mid?

So I was planning on trading elsewhere and trying to fatten up Serong a bit more, but after the weekend I don't see him as putting on particularly large amounts of money in the short term, so should I trade him out now and keep a Devon Smith type.

Would probably go

Serong and Hately to Bailey Smith and MacRae (+430k)

This would leave me 400k in the bank to target Neale at a slightly reduced price next week (or to go elsewhere if I back against Neale, given last year he felt like he tailed off in the second half of the year)

Any thoughts. Could also trade McInerny, King, or even Rivers off my bench, or Stephen Hill from on field

Any Saints fan have some thoughts on Paddy Ryder's Job Security?

Asking due to keeper league trading purposes.

What's Bailey Smith's BE?

Was going to get him this week but getting Starcevic off my field before he drops too much more is now my top priority. Hopefully Smith's BE is still highish after his 77 this week.

Rookie > Rookie (most likely Brander > McKay if he keeps his spot), Starcevic > Sicily.

His BE is 47.

TOG has been Serong's greatest limiting factor to his scoring. Even when he's on the field, he's been known to be keeping tab on an opposition MID. For whatever reason I get this feeling that JL hasn't fully release him yet...Is fitness the issue,,,?
He actually plays more TOG when Fyfe's in the team as opposed to when he's OUT and have scored accordingly...***scratching my head***

Oh damn. What's his price increase if he scores his projected score?

Would have to trade him for Curtis Taylor and he seems a much better starting option to keep for this week than some of my defence rookies who could barely scrape past 40.

Based purely on the numbers, they all have relatively similar breakevens, so they're all going to potentially go up in price about the same next week:

- Dangerfield ($598k MID) = 83
- Greenwood ($558k F/M) = 62
- Brayshaw ($513k F/M) = 81
- Menegola ($523k MID) = 76

Both Dangerfield and Greenwood are at the top end of what someone should probably be willing to pay for them. Personally, I got Greenwood last week for $515k, but I probably would have skipped him @ $558k, a bit too steep for a FWD. However, getting Dangerfield as a MID for under $600k is still a reasonable option.

However, if you think Brayshaw can keep going when Fyfe comes back in, then he seems the best value option, as I wouldn't want to spend TOO much more than $513k on him next week (same with Menegola, wouldn't consider him next week at potentially over $550k).

Whatever you decide, there will likely be some better, cheaper options available next week, as pretty much all of them will be too expensive to consider next week.

Thinking about it more I'll probably shift McInerney if he's not named and Serong is, as that would give me big concerns about McInerneys job prospects, and their price is similar enough, and Seeing should still beat his BE.

Then assess whether to offload King or Serong the following week.
