Cant say that when I traded Simpkin in a few weeks ago that I imagined that he'd be getting tagged.....hopefully teams only go to Higgins and Cunnington when he's back from now on
I don't think Simpkin will get a harder tag than that. Curnow was blanketing him the whole day. Simpkin has to learn to throw those inconspicuous elbows to the taggers guts, to make them think twice.
I just can't see how the umpires can continually miss the constant holds from the defensive stoppers on the attacking player (player playing the ball) at the stoppages and even just in open play around the ground. But the moment the player playing the ball remotely tugs a jumper in the slightest they are pinged. Umpire the game properly and either pull up everything, or just let everyone play. That was a horrific game to watch this arvo (and I'm not someone who usually complains at all about the look/feel of the game), which was compounded by the horrendous umpiring.
Yes... If the AFL wants a more free flowing more pleasing game to watch... Then these grubs who have no intention in going for the ball need to be pulled up early, and frequently. It will immediately free things up and result in a better quality game to watch.
Umpiring all round has been abysmal this year. Couldn't believe it could get any worse, but it does. The players are the only ones influencing the game.
SOS and Co's raiding looking better by the week. Plowman, Setterfield, J Martin, Docherty, Kennedy, Newnes, Betts, Pittonet & Jones really starting to look settled. Just need McGovern and Marchbank to be injury free and take the next step.
Absolute blight on the game. The amount of scragging and grabbing of the best miss and forwards, and then they engage and the guy that's been scragging for 80 minutes gets a free
