Good luck with your results and remember, life is a marathon and year 12 is the first 400 metres. If you get great results then that's fantastic and if you get the results you didn't want, you can still work hard at tafe/university and get a transfer into the course you want do want.

I know some people did well in high school and got into a great course, but struggled at university. So remember year 12 is only a stepping stone and not the end result. Naturally, my philosophical advice must be related to SuperCoach, so here is a bad attempt.

It's like you wanting Nick Riewoldt / Gary Ablett in your team, but you can't, so you just trade in Jack Riewoldt / Priddis instead and use them as a stepping stone to eventually have Nick Riewoldt/Gary Ablett in the long run. Now those who can get Nick Riewoldt straight away that's a bonus, but if you can't get Nick Riewoldt then get cousin Jack and work hard and trade St Nick later on.

This is so true. I got a great ATAR last year and did **** this year in uni, whereas I know people who barely scraped into my course but bust out HDs in everything in uni.

Is it possible to join a group without being part of any leagues in Supercoach ?
I'm not 100% sure you can play SC, without being in a League, but I'm pretty sure Groups and Leagues are independant. So I reckon you can be in a Group without being in a League. The question is, can you avoid being in a League?
For some reason I thought if I did not join a league or start one I just play SC for competition itself and join a group like SCS if I later on want to compare how teams half way through season are sitting.

As Rowsus said, Groups and Leagues are independent. If you don't join a League by Sunday night of the first Round, then you will automatically be placed into a league that needs numbers to fill in.
I guess you guys have answered it. Sounds like even if I don't consciously join one, I am placed in a league regardless.
Just want to focus soley on the comp itself and see if that improves things for me.

I think it's a pretty common way of looking at it and eventually once overall is out of the picture, most start to concentrate on league although if you're going well overalll, your league results tend to follow. League just feels like a fun little concept to keep coaches entertained during the weekend before the overall results are released each week.

I think if byes were not taken into consideration for next year then there would be some more love for players like pendlebury/jelwood (some people are choosing one or the other) dustin martin, david swallow, nick dal santo, bastinac, karnezis, dayne beams, Dylan shiel, and cotchin. given the 'must haves' of ablett, pendlebury/jelwood and Dangerfield takes up some choices for the rd 8 bye and that's before the rookies come into play

Done some fixture analysis that I'll post here shortly. Who do you think were the best SC team in 2013 based on an even draw (e.g. points halved for double up fixtures)?

The obvious choice Hawthorn were number 2 with an average of 1741.5pts. First correct answer wins rep points!

Or if you prefer to look at it from the perspective of who the easiest sides to play were, which is virtually 3300-team ave as you'd expect:

2013 SC Weighted Opposition Averages
MEL 1852.6
GWS 1851.5
GC 1715.6
BL 1709.6
STK 1696.7

Really pathetic for Melbourne to do worse than GWS. They were even over 70pts a game worse than in 2012! It will be interesting to see Paul Roos' SC impact next season. I'm sure they'll improve but by how much?

It is interesting to look at how the 3300 points that Champion Data allocate to ranking points for players for each match gets spread amongst the clubs. However, interestingly I'd say 3 of those teams that averaged more points were not serious premiership threats when the whips were cracking at business end of season. None of North, Collingwood or Richmond made it to the semi-finals stage, let alone prelim or Grand Final or Premiership itself.

Supercoach app will be free next year.
Rolling lockout stays too.
In Theory, rolling lockout should be a benefit and not take up much extra time. Check team list 1.5 hrs prior then late check just prior to game.

Reality is you keep checking back constantly for any change and monitoring twitter. Its compulsive, addictive and fear all rolled into one all weekend.

It reminds me of when we had to buy a blackberry for work. Now your constantly checking it for emails (so glad I have resisted Facebook) and I wonder why did I ever get a blackberry as you are connected to work 24/7.

Very interesting. Thanks Grant.
When I do the work for FTB I actually look at the averages, for and against, of the top 4 scorers for each team. This isn't the top 4 scorers for the season, but on a week by week basis. As your table suggests, Melb, GWS and GC are the worst in this analysis. But I think nearly everyone will surprised as to which team, in the last 2 seasons, has given up the lowest average top 4 scores against them. ie, when you look at every home and away game they played in the last 2 seasons, add up the top 4 scores scored against them in each game, and take an average of those 176 scores (4 players x 22 games x 2 seasons). 134 Rep points to the person, who with one guess, names that team. Double Rep points if you can name the average top 4 score this team has given up. I'll give you an error margin of +/- 2.00.

Since you said it is surprising I'll go GWS 116.

Hmmmm... I'm guessing you misunderstood the question!
I had already said your analysis agreed with mine, that Melb, GWS and GC were the worst teams in the analysis.
I'm looking for team that is the HARDEST to score against. GWS are actually the 2nd easiest after Melbourne. When you add up the 176 top 4 weekly scores scored against GWS in the last 2 seasons, they average out at 127.3.

That should earn me a negative rep.
