Will be a pretty popular strategy to start Marshall in the ruck alongside Grundy and pray that Gawn drops a bit early.

Even so it’s a fairly stacked forward line. Fyfe, Dunk & Dusty pick themselves as forwards and with Heeney likely to be extremely popular, those four seem like the obvious starting picks this far out.

I think I'd like to start Marshall as a forward, even ahead of Dusty, in the hope that Ryder drops off due to age or injury and he gets another go of it as a solo ruckman.

I'd probably start Fyfe and Dunkley ahead of Dusty as well. Dusty seems to start the year in first gear every season and I think he can be picked up a lot cheaper. Sidebottom is probably going to be too expensive for me to want to start him.

As long as he isn't pure MID, he will be worth a serious look while playing in that HBF role. A lot of people were burned by him this year and I imagine he is on top of lots of never-again lists, so I think he could be a really nice POD.

I would certainly have a look. I have had him all year and have not been as annoyed at him as most others. He only cost $336k, averaging 83, only missed 1 game and only had 2 scores under 70. Probably helped that most had him so rarely a POD. Hoped for better but not a disaster either.

Tried a similar thing as a kid and worked very very well. Had to stop though after I got lazy and shanked one straight left at training and the coach said he'd impale me on the point post if I did it again.

Whitfield is an interesting one re. AFL Player Ratings position.

He finally made it into some of the summary pages last week (as his overall average season rating was impacted by his injury game early in the year), and they have him as a MID/FWD. But then in the HS article released last week where they gave some 'current' 2021 positions, they had him listed as a DEF. So it's a bit of a strange one. I suspect he'll be a DEF, and that there may have been a mistake in not having updated Whitfield's position for the AFL Player Ratings summary tables.

Whitfield makes it into the General Defenders summary this week, so assume they picked up and corrected the issue from last rounds summaries.

Fyfe still listed as a MID only, so reckon we can nearly put a line through any chance of him sneaking MID/FWD, unless JL feels the need to stick him forward for an entire game in this last round.

Perryman as a DEF is one I would be very interested in.

Perryman classified as a Wing (MID) at this stage per the summaries. Played all over the ground so will be interesting to see if his move to the defence is enough to grab him DEF eligibility.

Man it would be annoying if Devon narrowly missed out on both Fwd and Def eligibility. The threshold is 35%, I wonder what happens if a player plays 33% fwd, 33% def and 34% mid...? Not eligible for selection in Supercoach? Dev might be a chance for that! Haha.

My general forward wasn't real clear 😀 , small forward would be a good description then similar a small defender.

I think these would be positive changes. Imagine this season, had they forced us to pick one of TJL, Riewoldt, Hawkins, Cox, De Goey, Dixon, JJK, Darling, Cameron, for example, and you could only trade him out for another KPF. If they did it for KPDs as well, I think it would lead to more unique players in SC match-ups (always more interesting imo), and would also align with the situation at actual clubs, where a given club might have a gun KPF but a rubbish KPD.

Some other thoughts:

Next year will probably be my first year starting Bont, I'm now more convinced there will be a year where he explodes from the get go and that might be next year.
If Heppell regains his fitness he could be a great mid priced cash generator.
Not sure I can start Gawn at his price and will instead attempt to get to him through a mid priced forward (by putting Marshall in the Ruck) or through a Sean Darcy/Draper or other young and upcoming ruckman.
Zak Butters, if he has a chance of getting midfield time, looks like he'd hit 100 as a forward.
Sam Walsh can take a big step forward.
Rowell worth looking at.
