Article today saying gaz to spend a heap of time fwd in a new role.

Merry Christmas btw
Thanks, good pick up on Sun Herald article.

Not sure if to fear this or not. Last year this talk was around and I left picking up GAJ until around round 8 for 50k less than starting price. Given some missed scores as Capt I think this was a fail. Interesting the comment from the AFL prospectus which said he played forward more than prior years in 2013 and obviously was strong around stoppages and involved in scoring links.

Early fixtures are mixed with 3 difficult games round 1-4 then Melb/GWS. Upgrade target round 9? Currently have GAJ/Pendles as dual capt choices........

Any thoughts?

You beauty. Exactly what I wanted to hear.
Come on down David Swallow. Back to midfield for you dude.
Didnt follow David Swallow to closely last year, but plenty of love for him i note. Carrying an injury leading to some sub par scores? Last few games were strong.

thank you Oz and Grain for that info ;)

Sorry Grain the system won't let me give you another Rep .....so here's 5400 reps in words

In most cases it will be Starting price divided by Magic Number = 2013 scoring average of player of home and away season

Magic number if I recall was usually in vicinity of 5300 to 5400 but that is off top of my head so maybe slightly different. Probably weighted average comes into it also. Last 3 game scores and average over those 3 games probably carry more weight, than 17th, 18th and 19th matches back for said player. Rowsus and others that follow and work with pricing mechanics of Supercoach game exactly can probably explain better.
As mentioned, the provisional magic number is 5400 based on current 2014 pricing. Daisy is priced at circa 63.5 a 20% discount to his 2013 average. I believe the discount is based on a % for each game less than 10 games. I thought the % was 3% per game (may be for DT) but looks like its 4% for SC. Interesting Bock receives no discount and Beams 10% discount for 7 games last year. Slight difference in % can be rounding of averages.

Not sure if it's been mentioned but former Richmond skipper Wayne Campbell to take over from the Giesh next year.

Former Tigers skipper Wayne Campbell becomes new umpires boss

FORMER Richmond captain Wayne Campbell will replace Jeff Gieschen as the AFL's national umpiring director.

Campbell, who played 297 games for the Tigers from 1991 to 2005 and won four Jack Dyer medals as Richmond's best and fairest, will be responsible for the development of the AFL's senior umpiring panel and the overall strategy for umpiring at all levels of the game.

He will join new senior umpiring coach Hayden Kennedy, a veteran of 495 VFL/AFL games as a field umpire, in a new-look leadership team in the League's umpiring department.

Since his retirement, Campbell has worked in a range of off-field roles at the Western Bulldogs and Richmond, to further his aspirations in football administration.

AFL general manager of football operations Mark Evans said he was delighted to be able appoint Campbell to the role.

"Wayne was a high-class player with Richmond, with a deep understanding of the strategy and tactics of the game," he said.

"Throughout his playing career, he was a leader on the field and around his club and, since his retirement, he has sought to build his knowledge base and head into a career in football administration.

"The AFL is delighted Wayne has accepted this role as his experience in implementing programs for elite performance at club level will be invaluable for AFL umpiring.

"His understanding of the modern game and trends on the field will assist the AFL Laws of the Game process and he possesses the administrative, management and leadership skills to drive the recruitment and retention of umpires nationally and expand the talent pathway programs."

Campbell, who will take up his role in mid-January, said he was thrilled to win the position.

"What attracted me to the role was working in a high-performance environment where I think I can make an impact," he said.

"The breadth of management skills required in the implementation of the national umpiring plan is an area that excited me and I want to continue the good work already done in increasing the respect for umpires and help boost the number of umpires at grass-roots level.

"As a team, we will also continue to explore ways to expand the diversity of umpires at all levels and I'm looking forward to meeting the umpiring fraternity and can't wait to get stuck into the role."

Thanks Guys, and happy new year to you both.
I'm honestly just happy if I help people improve their ranking, or get more enjoyment from their SC. I love delving through stats anyway, so hopefully it's just a win-win situation for all. :)

A side note to Creeker, you and I always seem to land on the same POD's or semi-POD's. I like your Lobbe and Bennell selections, they are both all but locked into my team, too!

Quick question: wondering whether there is a complete list somewhere of players with confirmed suspensions (such as Rioli missing round 1 in 2014. P.S. thanks IDIG for the heads up :)) as well as players sitting on a high number of demerit points (where future offence will likely mean 1 missed game). I've looked at AFL's website but it just seems to show week by week tribunal results. Was looking for a complete and exhaustive list. Appreciate the help.
