That’s what they said in the telecast. They were asking whether he captains, whether Cummins’ rest gets interrupted, or whether someone else does it (assuming Finch misses).

It seemed like most of them didn’t want to raise the possibility of Smith captaining, even though they seemed to want to hint in that direction.

I have a theory that Smith will be captaining again soon, and that’s why they went with Cummins as sole VC (rather than jointly with Head/Head as sole VC) of the Test side.

Didn't Wade only replace Carey in the final T20I against England and now suddenly becomes VC ?

Wonder why Maxwell never seems to be mentioned as a VC/C candidate ?

Henriques might become a option.

Be interesting with Smith , Paine seems ready to stay in for the Ashes next year.

Where does Cummins then get experience of captaining the side ?

Is Cummins/Head still joint VC of the Test side or are they waiting to announce that.

I am sure it won't be long before the Green/Pucovski calls for captain are made.

I was surprised to see Wade in for Carey, but it was a change of format, so maybe it makes more sense in that context. Not unusual to have a keeper as VC I suppose, it’s just that it’s a different one for the two sides at the moment.

Cummins is now sole Test VC. My thinking was that this means that Head is no longer next in line as Test C, implying that Smith probably is. My sense is that they don’t intend for Cummins to ever be full time C, but I hope I am wrong.

I suspect they may be reluctant to give the responsibility/pressure of captaincy to guys like Maxwell or Pucovski who have had mental health issues to manage as well.

2018 I think. Yea, definitely a good cricketer. There's great talent still around where the BBL could benefit but if not careful it could lose the appeal if named players don't come. I'm liking the WI guys coming, Munro and Milne too.

As with the Captain - It was asked the other night when Mark W and Gilly were commentating. Waugh immediately said Smith, Gilly responded with "The Vice Captain", then they moved on to the possibility of others including Henriques. Personally I think The VC should, what's the point of having them as VC if they don't take on the C role when it opens up.
