@That Negative Guy

Possibly one reason why a not are looking at starting Sams for is a total cost factor and they are preferring to start the likes of Short , Stoinis , Maxwell , Zampa , Meredith etc who all have DGR in Round 1 or 2.

People will then be juggling $$$ to try and get the likes of Rashid Khan & Siddle in for Round 2.

They all take up a fair chunk of the $ 2 million starting salary.

Unfortunately can't start all the big gun premiums so need to balance out the starting side somehow.

Update SC scores after second innings from Tasmanian Prem:

Format = First innings score + second innings score = Total score. I have already explained how the first innings points were made in a previous post, so will only explain scores for second innings.

Faulkner 110 + 93 = 203. Figures of 2-19(4) in 2nd innings. 15 dot balls (15), 2 wides (-2), 2 wickets (40), economy of 4.75 (20), 2 catches (20)

Ellis 97 + 68 = 165. Scored 48(31) batting at 5 in 2nd innings. 48 runs (48), strike rate 0f 154.8 (20)

McDermott 10 + 0 = 10. Scored 0(2) in 2nd innings, dismissed by Faulkner.

Mac Wright 0 + 4 = 4. Scored 4(9) in 2nd innings, dismissed by Faulkner.

Tim David 102 + 24= 126. Figures of 0-21(4) in 2nd innings. 9 Dot balls (9), Economy of 5.25 (15)

Riley Meredith 33 + 0 = 33. DNB second innings.

I can see what you are trying to do.

Sometimes though with a guy like Short , if you think he is going to be a Top 1-3 averaging player all season , he is just a start and forget type player who becomes a season long keeper and his price changes almost become irrelevant.

Just my opinion of course.

Although maybe his DGR clouds things.

Without that you could probably play the BE game and wait for his $$$ to drop.

Roughly Short + $ 62.5 k bench player = Faulkner + Jacks.

Can Faulkner + Jacks score more in 3 games together than Short + whoever you would be playing onfield instead of your bench player.

Probably more likely to play Short as C though in Round 2 over Faulkner/Jacks though.

Hopefully that makes sense

Yes, Herbie, but we're talking about players we're getting or considering who don't have a decent schedule. Obviously, targetting Stars and Hurricanes are the way to go. ;)

Fair enough then , each to their own I guess , lots of different ways to approach a initial team set up I guess.

Personally my non Stars/Hurricanes players onfield will be Hughes & Renshaw (obviously replaced by a Bench player Round 1).

Certainly with a lack of DGR this season compared to previous seasons , I will be certainly trying to use the schedule to my advantage where I can.

Whether that is the right (or wrong) approach time will tell.

Hopefully Sams works out as a nice starting POD for you , certainly showed last season what he is capable of achieving.

Obviously my side could completely change this week depending on Stoinis updates and how CA treat the ODI/T20I players.

Woah. You have only 2 players on-field who don't have a D.G.W. coming right up. O_O
Perhaps I'm doing this slightly wrong, as I have 5, in: Inglis, Hales, Davies, Sams, and Tye.
I'm inclined now to trade one of these to Big Billy. Which of these would you get rid of first? Not Inglis! I'm big on him. :)

Can you post your side , curious to see the rest of it.

Don't mind Inglis if he replicates last season , should still open until Livingstone/Roy arrive.

Happy to wait for Hales to drop although first 5 at Manuka so that might not happen.

Can't see Davies playing ahead of Hales , Khawaja , Ferg , Ross unless they suddenly play 5 + 1 + 5 which they don't seem to do , maybe they change their setup for Manuka.

Sams v Stoinis v Maxwell v Meredith v Zampa - personal preference I guess.

Like the Tye pick (also like Behrendorff)

Think Big Billy is a trap

Plenty of value out there , cant start them all I guess
