Not in my opinion.

He has been so solid in the number 3 spot which we have been crying out for so long I would not change him at all. Marnus & Smith are the rocks of the batting order - no need to change that, need that stability/ reliability.

Personally, I couldn’t pick Burns even if Warner isn’t fit, looks way out of form.

Pucovski & Green have the technique/ form/ temperament to warrant test selection.

Both are elite talents, I am a firm believer of backing young prodigious talents in when their confidence is high.Don’t buy into the “can’t have 2 debutants” argument - pick your best team, these 2 young guns are clearly in the top 6 batsmen we have so deserve selection.

If Warner isn’t fit, I would back Harris in over Burns myself.

So if both Pucovski & Green don't debut together you would go

Harris
Pucovski
Labuschagne
Smith
Head
Wade

no Green 😅

If they bring Harris in and open him with Burns I will be pissed off.

Won't happen but I think I would prefer Khawaja or SOS to open until Warner returns.

I think they need to pick both Green & Pucovski and guarantee them the series , let's get them in the team and see what they can do.

Been too long of a wait since we have had young players of this potential.

Paine can open (if we bat first)

After making 125 not out with the bat.

No debate anymore, he plays the first test - averaging over 50 with the bat at first class level & 21 with the ball. Elite talent.
Has to play , just find room for him , regardless who they leave out.

Burns out for a third ball 🦆

No way he can play in Adelaide
I wonder who will open? Warner in extreme doubt and Burns spudding it up. Hopefully Pucovski can make a 50 in this second innings..

Let’s say we go with Pucovski, who opens with him if Warner is ruled out?

Reckon the seven batsman should be Pucovski, Head, Wade, Smith, Labuschagne, Paine and Green (all-rounder).

He is so loose outside off stump, in horrible form currently.
Suspect his confidence his shot.

Has a terrible first class pink ball record from memory as well.

Think they need to release him back to the BBL.

I actually would have added Khawaja to the Squad as soon as Warner got injured but they won't do that.

I think if they expect Green to play as the all rounder they will destroy him by the second test.

Just keep his bowling to 2 x 4 over spells at this stage.

50 red ink for Pucovski would be a nice confidence boost.

Harris for mine - if he can produce a nice innings here it would be very handy for his prospects.

He obviously bats well with Pucovski - those 2 have a real chemistry/ bat well together which can only help Pucovski's first test nerves.

I would drop Wade for Green - had a poor test series v NZ last summer averaging about 30, Head has made a very good start to the summer in the Sheffield Shield (he still has too many brain fades/ gives his wicket away too easily but the talent is there).

If no Warner I would go with :-

Harris
Pucovski
Labuschagne
Smith
Head
Green
Paine

as our top 7.

Is Harris even in the test squad though? Thought he was just in the Aus A squad..

I am actually surprised they haven't added him (or someone) as cover for Warner.

Maybe they are waiting for the conclusion of the next game to make a decision.
