Had totally forgotten him, maybe as I had a recollection that in one of the last games I recall him playing in he bowled dreadfully and was hit to all areas of the field

He was injured, but then recovered and was picked for a couple of games. Unfortunately he didn't perform at his usual standard, and had been dropped for the last few games. He was their X factor option last night.

Family moved to South Africa when he was 7.

Played first class cricket in South Africa.

I never knew that , Dawid Malan Senior indeed played cricket in South Africa.

His son who plays for the Hobart Hurricanes plays for England.
