Agreed, specially with not much value in the fwds. Danger injury cloud the only good picks are Sidebottom and Marshall. Running with 2 premo fwd line to start with this year. Rather spend the money in defence lot more value there.
Replace Sidebottom with Dunkley and I agree with all of the the above .

Cant bring myself to select Lloyd or Gawn due to price. Also really hesitant on Neale and Oliver who are both going to lose coin but all the real lock and load mids are overpriced.

Key forwards look cheap to me. Jezza first to go from the fwds but I can't help myself dreaming of what might be with him for now.
Kinda like Gaff. He seems well priced among a sea of 110 mids who are priced at overs. Dusty's a place holder. Deserves a slot for now.
Have toyed with Hickey are R3 and think it's worthy of consideration. Young could be 75+ i reckon.

Mudflaps 2021.... Take 1
Nice to see the POD in Simpkin.

Not necessary to select Cunnington if you are going with Ziebell and Simpkin. Poor TOG% over his career, poor kick to handball ratio and will need a lot to go right to be a worthwhile selection or to muster an average close to 102-105.

Lloyd, gawn, Oliver and Neale were pretty much my first picked and haven’t left my team. Must have them.

What order would you put these mid-price players and potential average. All set for extended midfield time.
Milera
Caldwell
Hatley
Rozee
Could you potentially start them all?
Absolutely. You can start anyone you like. But unfortunately the SC selection abattoir is full of bodies that were "all set for extended midfield time". Often they train with the midfield squad in the pre season. In my experience however, somehow most of them never quite live up to expectations. Maybe one of the above will come good but which one is the question.

Can't see any reason why Simpkin will not take another step this season.

I am a bit North heavy. Will really be monitoring Cunningtons pre season. At one stage I also had LDU in. I really want to pick him but know that he will probably average 90 to 95 which isn't enough.

There's plenty of value in midfielders around that $300K price this year though. Could easily start 3-4 good ones in your team. Definitely worth a read. :devilish:

(Seriously, it's buyer beware if you do, as usual).
Obviously in Big Bash mode still but hopefully I can stay clear of all of Green , Caldwell , Heppell , Sier , Hately etc even Atkins.

Cripps , Rowell , Taranto could look enticing at M3-M5 but wondering if that almost locks in a M7/8 from the beginning.

Similarly Wright , Thomas , Brown , Ziebell , Daniher & Impey etc could open up options up forward

Promising myself this season to start my team based on Rucks & Rookies first.

Plenty of time to think about it more when Big Bash finishes.

When past winners post their teams you would do well to take notes and ask questions rather than tell them what they are doing wrong.
It was an opinion, not telling him what to do. Well done to dimmawit for the win in 2013. I was ranked number 1 in Australia for 4 rounds in 2017. Would love to have the overall winner next to my name.

Please don't tell me that 😀

I already was thinking Neale , Macrae + 4 or 5 of them.

Of course they will all average 90+ , rise to $ 500k + and then I just sideways them to fallen mid premiums at Bye time.
Yes, it is important Ironhawk (who is an amazing contributor) to sometimes think about who you are replying to.

Love that Herbie is always thinking out of the box, however, he like many of us can be seduced by the dark side, some more than others.

Stay disciplined Herbie, remember that Rowsus once did a piece on how few mid pricers deliver, it is like thinking you can beat the casino.

Very few ever get there. My best season was when I packed the team full of high price certain premiums, only had to trade when they were injured. Going for overall, I accept you have to include some value.

Always found if anyone delivered, it was a fwd who goes to midfield who played it in junior level, think Dunkley, Tim Kelly. Rarely do defenders deliver, maybe a Williams who was ok, Houston and others tested me early last year. The difference is a true premium you will preserve with, someone who is breakout is likely to be traded if they don't deliver early (BrodieSmith, Houston).

I thought it was pretty clear I wasn't serious. :)

It would be interesting to know how many of the top finishers pick these mid pricers to start, and how many. Fairly sure guns and rookies has a much better success rate. As another who gets tempted by these mid pricers every season, maybe I'll try that myself one season. Maybe.
