WEST Coast draftee Bella Lewis will be thrown straight into the "deep end" against Adelaide on Saturday, with coach Daniel Pratt confident the midfielder is ready to go.

Lewis was the first player selected in the WA pool of last year's NAB AFLW Draft and the hard-working midfielder has impressed in her first pre-season at the top level.

Pratt said the Claremont product would take on a prominent midfield role against the Crows at Mineral Resources Park as the Eagles look to support key duo Emma Swanson and Dana Hooker.

"She's a straight-in type of player," Pratt said on Wednesday.

"She's one of those girls who has played a lot of footy and she's natural in her style; her kicking and running and tackling looks very similar to how the guys play.

"She'll get thrown in the deep end and see how she goes."
Bella Lewis $30K FWD.

That's a big leap of faith. Yet, we know she will be playing.

Thoroughly enjoying playing around with lineups and looking forward to catching a few games this season.

My most recent side (which includes Bowers):

All cash used. Is there any glaring omissions or players under an injury cloud that I should know about?
I am avoiding anyone who wasn't named in their teams AFLW practice match squad, as soem were rested but tohers are more likely than not to have been injured and therefore higher risk for Round 1 selection.

Check the following to see whether Jaz played (2 articles for Saturday and Sunday praccy matches) as my memory was she didn't.
PRACTICE MATCH TEAMS: Host of new faces, draftees named for first hitout (womens.afl)
SUNDAY PRACTICE MATCH TEAMS: Crows, Kangas recall big guns (womens.afl)

Personally I wouldn't pick Janz ahead of Lauren Pearce in the ruck (even if fit) although a young up and comer like Bella could go alright if preferring to spend money elsewhere.

Noob question.

Didn't play last year so am a bit new, but is there a rolling lockout?

I'm going to assume it's a no.

EDIT: Just found the answer. Hard no. Going to be hard to pick players with teams being named only the night before.

No Rolling Lockout.

Suggest you use Stephen427 and Connoisseur team's as a basis.

Then go by the preseason games posted by couchPOTATO. You won't be too far off.

Trade from there.

It may be a case of locking in rookies especially that we know are playing. Not that they are there for cash generation but security in case one of the known player aren't named. Probably isn't in too many teams but is a mainstay of the demons defence, Meg Downie (Def) $20,000 will be out for about 3-4 weeks. Also Shae Sloane (Def) $15,000 aiming to return from ACL in Rd 6and Sarah Lampard (Def) $25,000 out til about Rd3.

I have been modifying my team slightly since team announcements and indications of rookies/debutants playing. I final rejig shortly and I hope to have it up later this arvo.

Thanks. Going back to Bella who was my initial selection due to being the sole ruck available for GC at that position. Also interested by the previous averages of B Moody (Carl) but that would mean downgrading T Harris to S Perkins/Lewis to fund it which I would prefer not to do.

My team with about 30 mins to lockout...

Def
Catherine Svarc (Bris) $45,000
Chelsea Randall (Ade) $40,000
Jess Duffin (NTH) $35,000
Sarah Allan (Ade) $20,000
Ruby Svarc (Bris) $15,000
Tiah Haynes (Freo) $15,000

Mid
Kiara Bowers (Freo) $60,000
Jasmine Garner (NTH) $60,000
Karen Paxman (Melb) $55,000
Ash Riddell (NTH) $55,000
Erin Phillips (Ade) $40,000
Mimi Hill (Carl) $20,000
Tarni Brown (Coll) $20,000

Ruc
Lauren Pearce (Melb) $40,000
Indy Tahau (Bris) $15,000

Fwd
Tyla Hanks (Melb) $40,000
Darcy Vescio (Carl) $35,000
Sarah Perkins (GCS) $35,000
Tegan Cunningham (Melb) $20,000
Madeleine Boyd (Geel) $20,000
Jacqueline Vogt (Stk) $15,000

Just worried about my Def Rookies - hopefully at least one plays. Thanks to seeing @couchPOTATO's post as I started this I know Vogt is playing for the Saints. Taking a risk and saving money just by having a cheap 2nd Ruck.

When I started looking at creating a team, I actually considered a tactic of just going very high scoring/averaging players and having a number of $15,000 non playing players on the field. I may do a mock team in a spreadsheet and see how that goes in prep for next year.

Best of luck everyone!
