Bit early to right Murphy & Curnow off , they should have both retired then , must be list cloggers this season.

Setterfield is probably as durable as both Martin & Williams.
Not writing Curnow off, just said he is old, He will still see plenty of mid time. I wrote Murphy off 2 years ago lol

Murphy been training with the forwards all pre-season and looked to be playing the role Michael Gibbons has played over the last 2 seasons. At this stage of his career it suits him, as well as giving others a chance in the midfield.
Also looked really good in that role, looked sharp, from what I saw today.

so Dow needs to average 75.48 to make that $ 150k

59.6 , 54.4 , 37.7 career so far

let's see the next game

Cripps , Curnow , Docherty , Martin , Murphy , Saad , Setterfield , Walsh , Williams etc etc

Lot of mouths to feed
With 3300 pts per game and 44 players, 75 is the average score per player per game. He needs to score right on the mark of an average player to be worth it. I guess you need to then rate him - is he capable of being average, or is he in for another below average year?

Promising start from what I have read here, but it was just a practice match.

I think SC Coaches are reading too much in these early practice games. I would expect the AFL Coaches are experimenting with playing their players in different positions to see how they perform there. It certainly is good to observe the practice games, especially to see if there is a pattern with the players' positions, but it's the last practice game where it is best to judge what position a player could play in Rd1.

True, just a practice match but to me it was the way he went about it/ the way he looked.

Just appeared to be much stronger (standing up in tackles), ball handling was clean, there were a few times that he evaded tackles with some neat sidesteps & then exploded away from the contest which I have never seen from him before. Looks to of worked on his ball drop also, kicking was much better - quite a remarkable difference to the last time I saw him play & a huge positive for the blues.

I agree to an extent.

Although in previous seasons we’ve seen a practice game or two then three Community Series games per team. This season we get just one practice game and one Community Series game per team.

So I think the team structures that we’re seeing in the practice games could be quite similar to next week’s Community Series games. But yes, we’ll likely see a more accurate representation of round 1 teams in next week’s games.

Paddy Dow running around like he finally belongs and the sheer number of CBA’s that Caldwell attended is quite compelling though and worth discussion.
