Intercept level. It was noticeable early last season interceptors did better given increased pressure from the defensive mids, shorter quarters, fresher players. There is a range off factor that could work against it this year, however Howe continues to look good. Would have been in my team except for the disturbed pre season. Impressive score.
The deep defence needs is a danger in terms of some many options who could be top 6. thought it was Lloyd Laird and the rest look the same, just not so sure now. This is what preseason does, throw up more questions.
Howe has always been a 100+ guy when he's fit playing the intercept role. He had a couple of seasons where he got stuck in a KPD role before Moore and Roughy and then he would constantly get injured and play through them, ankles are what spring to my mind the most. Last year though was just a hot patch like he's always been capable, he'll have games he has to be more accountable.
Basically he's SC porn, contested marks galore, elite kicking, takes kick-outs and run and carry. Do think that faster ball movement is a double edged sword for him, less intercept opportunities which are his biggest bonus but he's also their designated kicker (as much as they have one) so he'll get more chances.
The Pies have also become a very defensive possession oriented team over the past couple of years as you can see from Crisp, Maynard, Langdon et al's scoring, Howe unfortunately played hurt and underdone all season and didn't really get into it but last year we saw what he can do.
Still think he's more of a low 100s guy though which given his durability issues makes a questionable value proposition.
