I don't think it would be right if our teams weren't nearly the same, seems every year we end up very similar. :D
Only about 3-4 picks different but a big difference.
Like how you've got my Caldwell up to Dunkley by dropping Butts to Murray and Impey to Teacy.
Great minds think alike mate :p(y)

I’m thinking Dunkley as a replacement? Got a thoughts on him?
Only that he has taken over from Heeney as the SCS Poster Boy given the 1 million posts about him so far in the last few weeks 😀

Zac Bailey is the one to take

No doubt Dunkley will (should) still be a Top 8 forward for the season , so I guess it's a matter of starting him or waiting.

Apparently the WB are the only team in the competition that has multiple options available to run through the mids so that might scare some away 😉

Still think my 6 rookie ruck starting team is the best though 🤗

Just waiting for Mr ***an , JL , LC & Ratten to reply to my emails.
Well that confirms at least one for Round 1 ✓

assume one of Briggs/Flynn plays

assume one of Meek/Treacy plays

assume Fullarton plays

I must be ahead of my time

let's see how popular the 5-6 rookie ruck team becomes 😀

If you are going to do it please call the team something like "Rucking Fantastic!" :)
Most teams are looking similar already with the same 20-25 players.

I know trading is not a strength of mine , so the consistently Top 100 finishes coaches will kill me in that area.

So I may as well try something different and see if I can get advantage that way.

Build your side around the rookies they say , so if 3 are in the rucks , then I will start them and see what happens.

The defensive rookies if even named look very shaky to field , some of those $ 117k mids look to have questionable JS as well.

Might be too many forward rookie options that could also lead into a trap.

Just need to see if Flynn plays on the weekend and if Darcy is available Round 1 whether they play him forward and Meek rucks.

With the recent news regarding Hunter:

Defence just about set with mid rookie over Cumming (via Clark) the likely change if needed to allow Scott and Tracey to be upgraded to other rookies, as well as Sloane possibly upgraded to another mid/fwd premium.

Brave man foregoing what could in all seriousness be 700 points from Gawn over the first 5 weeks. I see the merit in the rookie R2/3 but I think Grundy has to be the one to miss if you go down that road.

Bloody scary team to come up against in the early rounds.

Very , very nice

13ish premiums

3 onfield rookies

I went H Clark & Duggan (could swap to Taranto) in defence with Fantasia @ D6.

Merrett , Jelly , Danger , Pendles , Boak , Laird

Gawn @ R1 (depending on the GWS news)

Can't get a premium at F1 though

Might go on a JDG or Tobias ride , too scared to pick Zac Bailey from the start.

Would Hunter work at R3 for a Gawndy team? or shall we all stick to Flynn?
Other than that question, love the team

As absurd as it sounds, 700 from Gawn is literally just getting fair value on the investment. To go anywhere near the rookies production he'd have to be putting up probably 180 a week and even that's assuming the rookies only manage 63 for the 124k guys or 59 for Hunter which seems on the low end of reasonable outcomes from them.

Captaincy is a factor but even then at 140 a week he's going to get you 100 points in that period over someone taking 120 each week while Hunter scoring 65 is going to generate 230 points above his value, way ahead even with captaincy in the equation.

Gawn's absolute score only truly matters when sides are finished, until that point the relative value of the points moves the needle more. It's the same reason a 350k guy can be a keeper while scoring less than a 550k starting pick. Economics 101, allocation of finite resources :)

I agree, and this is what I keep telling myself when it comes to looking at Gawn’s draw.

Based on last year / MN, he’s priced to hold his value with an average of around 145. Anything less than that and he will lose cash and is underperforming relative to his price.

On the flip side you have Flynn/Meek who will likely be the best value rookies across the whole shooting match.

So ultimately, for the people that opt for an onfield rookie instead of Gawn - it really comes down to nailing your captaincy choices.

If Gawn averages 150 for the first five rounds, he’s only hurt you to the tune of 5ppg, for a player that costs $740k. If you can consistently nail your captains in the 120+ area, you really aren’t getting left behind (once you factor in someone like Flynn being onfield and averaging 75, instead of a Kosi type at 50).

I happen to bearish on Neale as well, so I’ll have added pressure to be jagging the right mid when I don’t rely on Grundy).
