PORT ADELAIDE forward Sam Powell-Pepper has been granted personal leave from the club to focus on his wellbeing.

Powell-Pepper, who is currently hampered by a hand injury suffered during a collision at training, has been given time away from the club.

“Along with the rehabilitation of my broken hand, there are other parts of my life that need some work right now,” Powell-Pepper said.

“I appreciate the support of the club, my coaches and teammates with this.”

Port Adelaide General Manager – Football, Chris Davies said he expects Powell-Pepper’s return to the club to be in April.

“Sam will be offered the time and support he needs and we look forward to his return when he is ready,” Davies said.

The club requests that Sam and his family’s privacy is respected at this time.

There will be no further comment from the club at this stage.

I wonder if this news helps Bergman play round 1?

Probably makes Drew a lock in their 22.

SuperCoach did an update yesterday and has the injury symbol on anyone that's on the afl injury list. I have Lloyd and they have also removed his projected score, effectively giving him a zero.
I opened the AFL injury list page on Monday, and there was a picture of Jack Steven, saying that he was set to return soon.

Duggan the short-term beneficianado (soft tissues starting to mount for Shuey)
Damn, there's one of my draft players down. My mids are looking a bit thin really, the rest of my team is reasonably decent.

Still not a huge fan of the Duggan selection, I thought he was already covering Yeo in the mid field role, but I guess it might give him a bit more time there. I would have thought it may be more beneficial for some of their other part time mids?

Yeah, I’m not that qualified to comment on WC’s mix, but it probably bumps Duggan up a rung in the rotations for a time, an uptick in CBAs, and with Yeo (by the sounds of it) only making slow progress on the OP front, it reduces the downside risk to an extent. But it will still be there if/when all hands are back on deck.

Duggan might get a slight boost in CBA's, but Duggan was never going to get his points from winning the hard ball at CBA's... His strength is winning ball during matches playing through the middle of the ground in general play and using it well. Should still start on the wing.

I think Gaff will get more CBA's however, and he has proved himself capable on the inside, and quite often moves inside when injuries strike so he will get a bump.

Sheed also likely moves into a more inside role which suits his game well. And spends less time up forward.

We probably then bring in Xavier O'Neill who has really impressed. He was going to be on the fringes of selection for round 1 anyway, but should be a lock now.

One smokey though is rookie Zane Trew... Has really impressed all this pre-season, and was apparently very good in the match sim yesterday, nice clean hands, a nice penetrating kick on him, and good size about him for a youngster, doesn't take any crap. Can see him nabbing early games.

@wogitalia (or anyone else) Do you have any insights into how Lloyd is tracking with his knee strain? Is he expected to play round 1 and if so, do we expect him to be hampered at all ? Thanks
As others have said, he's back in full training and good to go.

Definitely some concerns for me though given his historically high pricing and that the knee was his 2nd issue of the preseason, he also missed an earlier intra-squad match with I believe a calf concern. Bit of a worry to have two separate injuries at the time that he had.

Coupled with the Dawson and Campbell factors and there is a genuine case to not start him but still be surprised if he's not in the elite tier for defenders, quite possibly on his own, rule changes should be significant bonus for him as I think we'll see less long kicks down the line which means a bit more retention and we all know that retention is hot chips for seagulls.
