Jake Lloyd has recovered well from his knee sprain, he is back in full training this week so we are expecting him to be available for round one.

To pick or not to pick, hmmm?

(Missing anything to consider below?)
AYES:
He's will most likely be the No1 Defender at season's end.
Hard to bring in later, as he doesn't normally go low in price.
New rules favourable for him (the increase to 15m space for kick-ins).
There should be plenty of ball in the Swans’ defence again.
Only 27yo.
Rarely puts in a a bad score.
Durable.

NAYS:
He's overpriced.
Had a (slight?) interrupted preseason.
Other Syd Def players may take points away from him (like Dawson's long kick-ins suit the new rules).

The Ayes win, right???

He's one of the best SC commodities in the game. Of course there's going to be more Pros than Cons.... but he's priced accordingly. I'm predicting he drops 5-10 pts and is a non-start for me.

Finally got around to watching the Port vs Ade AAMI game and christ Fantasia looked good. Could really explode from the gates in round 1 with a North Melbourne matchup and then the Essendon revenge match in round 2. Could potentially be the Dan Butler of this season and be set for some big price rises early.

For mine a player who's always looked top class when fit and he looks as fit as I've ever seen.
What exactly are you expecting to get out of him as an SC forward?

p.s. probably in the wrong forum with that post btw...

Not really if you are playing him as a defender with the DEF/FWD.
Sorry my bad - didn't see the DPP there.

He's playing forward though so the question still applies - what are you expecting to get out of him as an SC forward in terms of average? He's never really done anything of note in SC before even when he hasn't been out injured, so I'm not sure where your expectations sit with him?

If he can get back into gettin 4.5 tackles a game and stay fit, I can see him in that 80-85 range in a team like Port Adelaide.

Seems a bit of a reach to me that he'll somehow reach his 2018 numbers and stay on the park for a long enough run of games to flip him out for a premo.
Yeh the defence is really toying with me at the moment. Rookies that could be there don't look like scorers or are one round players. Not comfortable in the mid priced players and even the possibility of going 5 Premo deep your limited there.

Although not yet in the Uber category, how would you rate Walsh. Can he push to 110+ for the season.

I’m looking at M5 between Walsh and Gaff.
II think both could hold a M6 role for some time, I thought Walsh might get there but I do worry about his disposal at times to really take that next stetp.

Gaff may also benefit from the longer games this season, spends minimal tiime off the ground.

Agree it’s wishful thinking but he wouldn’t be the first player to move club and have their “persistent injury” disappear.

Wouldnt be surprised if exactly that happens to that moustached bloke that used to play for Essendon.

I guess you would be happy to generate 150k, in a perfect world 200k. Something along those lines whilst providing some scoring better than a rookie along the way. Similar to what you would be hoping for through a Ziebell, Daniher, Impey. Young, Cumming, Clark. Like I said I think Dan Butler is potentially the blueprint here, he went from $234k to $458k in 5 weeks. Yes durability is shocking and that creates a large risk.

Just really passed the eye test I guess. Looked as sharp and fit as I've seen him, piled on 79 in virtually 1/3 of a match, which could have easily been more. How much of that can be attributed to the crows putting up less of a fight than a set of witches hats.... well that's something else to consider as well.

If they still had Burgess there running the show conditioning-wise then I'd probably have a bit more confidence about Port turning around his soft tissue injury issues tbh. Fantasia has always had talent to burn but the issues with both his body and the important bit above the shoulders have always been there to hold him back from being a consistently good footballer.

On another note how are they handling the dew over at Adelaide Oval during night games nowadays? As silly as it might sound that's another thing that crossed my mind, in terms of the transition from playing home games mostly indoors to playing home games outdoors with a lot of night games on the schedule.

I've got Fantasia in my side currently, scored quite well the other week, I'm not up to speed with his previous injuries, but, if you compare Daniher and Brisbane, you'd have to think the fault lay with the strength and conditioning crew at Essendon, on top of not being happy at the club.

The reason he's in my side is, insurance against the rookies, he'll be seeing plenty of quality leather, you also have Dixon, Ladhams, Marshall or Georgiades crashing packs, if not marking, the balls dropping at Fantasia's feet. If he doesn't do well, he's an easy up or downgrade at his price and has dpp. Anyway fingers crossed he does well for his new club, albeit a year late.
