Looks like Warner , Fullarton (or Treacy) , Jones , Rowe is the popular F4-8.

Bergman the other , possibly Briggs.

Clark as a mid looks "safer" to start but then I keep getting Butts or Cox at D5/D6.

Might need to look at a Buckley/Clark/L Young 3 early setup.

Come on the rookie annoucements.
Yeah all this is hanging on rookie news.. surely the debut announcements start coming thick and fast any minute now!

Not my final team but after seeing commentary on a few players I thought I'd have a look at something a little different to what I'd usually go be thinking of in a Grawndy lineup:

There's some risk there obviously but also a bit of flexibility and scope to almost immediately made another corrective trade (ie. rookie to mid-pricer or mid-pricer to premo) if needs be.

Thoughts? Is there any value in holding back on a little cash coming into round 1?

Well this is where I'm currently sitting at 3pm on Monday. Will likely change by 4pm but think I'm pretty set on the $400k+ selections at the moment and just shuffling around the sub $300k picks at the moment. Any ideas what could be done with $60k leftover or if there is anyone obvious that is missing from this line-up?

One option is to swing Campbell fwd & replace De Goey with Rowell (495K)

What about Fantasia down to an Impey/Dow type which would give you enough to get Lloyd in? Starting 5 defenders without Lloyd means you are either missing out on him or a fallen defender bargain during the year.

11 keepers just isn't enough so I'd look at Fantasia down to a Impey/Dow/rookie and Aliir up to a premium.

This is the team pending rookies.

I Have gone for less midpriced keepers this year than usual and more cheap midpriced money makers due to circumstances, time will tell how that unfolds.

I like going 6 deep in the mids as I only see Neale as a "must have later" out of those I'm missing.

There's a fair bit of injury risk in that forward line but the alternative options are also risky (i.e. Dow and Impey), and there are many avenues for trading those players to other mid-priced players

Flynn looks like the better option than Meek and and Hunter due to having far better js.

Seeing a lot more Fantasia than I expected. Don't see it myself.
I get the concerns and his lack of proven scoring ability with only one year averaging 83 (whilst missing a handful of games), I just think if he is fit and in a good side (both which seem true) he will average over 80 and I'll take that this year from someone at his price. I think he won't find it hard to get to 400k.

I don't particularly like the Impey and Dow picks and I find him a suitable alternative.

There's a slight misconception that he's just a forward pocket even when he does get going, he's a lot more of a half-forward flanker who also plays deep, but does a lot of his good work up the ground.

He was absolutely dominant against the Crows in that practice game and should have kicked 4 or 5 in a half (11 disposals and 3.3 in a 1/2 is pretty promising) Not a good opposition, but he looked to be at his best.

Definitely not my favourite pick in my side, but I like it nonetheless.

Yeah, I can see how it works. Certainly not impossible. 'Easily' seems a stretch given he's only done it once before. Better team sure but also a lot of mouths to feed there. And 80 has to be just about the minimum line, unless the other options really fail. I'm trying to avoid dow and Impey too though so I see where it comes from. Not surprised to see him in consideration but quite surprised he's up to 20% and seeming to pop up in more and more on here.

Would make more sense to me down back as well.

Hi SCS squad!

Please see my current team below. Only have $4.9k left to spend. Looking for your initial thoughts & opinions & suggestions!

A few things I'm pondering over:
  • Not sure about the rookies. Dow worth the high price? Want downgrade to someone else to free up some cash
  • Forward line looks super weak, every season it's like this for me!! But I don't wanna go for Danger cuz I think he'll drop in price later on in the season
  • The Fyfe selection. I've started him the past two seasons but this season I'm a bit worried about his midfield time/scoring. Especially at the start of the season cuz Freo have so many injuries in the forwards
  • Impact on H.Young with L.Ryan in the team? Alternative could be Jordan Clark who looked solid in the warm up matches. Problem with picking Clark is that I simply don't trust Chris Scott 🤡
Also, I've always started with Gawndy in my time playing SC. So unless they're injured, I'm not gonna mess around with the starting rucks. However I'm still undecided on the R3 spot.

Cheers!

I liked the double midfield team better. Think that could really dominate against teams running only one midfield.
and double ruck too.

Seriously though, all these teams I keep seeing are really great... I mean, I like nearly every single one... But - I have put together a relatively midprice team in case rookies do not drop and I am thinking I will start with and try to upgrade the midpricers when/if I can during that first week of team drops. Money leftover in case I need for rookie changes, but can also go toward upgrading Steele to Neale too. One more decent defence rookie (Port's Jones?) might allow me to upgrade Taranto to Rowell or even JKelly.

KFC SuperCoach 2021: Expert consensus team revealed

Late to KFC SuperCoach this year? We’ve run the numbers on nine expert sides to deliver the ultimate consensus team for 2021 - start here!

The Phantom
March 15, 2021 - 4:26PM

Don’t have time to dive into last-minute KFC SuperCoach research but still want to claim bragging rights against your mates?
You’ve come to the right place.
To help you pick a competitive starting side, eight expert KFC SuperCoach teams have been collated and combined into the ultimate consensus team for 2021.

THE COACHES
The Phantom, Al Paton, Tim Michell, Dan Batten, Fantasy Freako, Dan Begala, Matt Turner (The Hipster), Antimo Iannella (Mr. SC), The Eradicator

THE TEAM

DEFENCE

Jake Lloyd and Rory Laird were the overwhelming picks for the first two spots in defence. Six of the nine coaches are going with Lloyd at D1 with the other three are leaving him out altogether - for now, at least - given the pre-season injury setback. Geelong star Tom Stewart features in five of the nine sides, sitting at D2 in two of them, while all-but one is going with second-year Docker Hayden Young. Jayden Short is in four teams, but Stewart’s popularity - along with the salary cap - have squeezed him out. We’re still waiting on Round 1 teamsheets but the extra mid-pricer in Jordan Clark, and fielding just one rookie, is a popular strategy down back.

KFC SuperCoach 2021: Expert consensus team

MIDFIELD

In order to get some separation from the field, Jack Steele and Clayton Oliver are M1 choices in two teams but Brownlow Medallist Lachie Neale is the man to lead the midfield, featuring in every other side. Jack Macrae is a popular choice at M2, following his 39 disposals and 158 points in the AAMI Series, but, surprisingly, Bulldogs teammate Marcus Bontempelli only features in one. The underpriced trio of Patrick Cripps, Matt Rowell and Tim Taranto rounds out a strong group of keeper selections. Every KFC SuperCoach is picking Swans Academy gun Braeden Campbell - as they should - after seeing his elite foot skills and 85-point performance in the AAMI Series. At the elevated rookie-price, and with dual-position status, the M6 spot appears the best one. Kangaroos draftee Tom Powell, who averaged 156 KFC SuperCoach points at junior level last year, led his club for disposals in the first half of the AAMI Series clash with the Hawks, while the next four rookie spots were unanimous - for now anyway.

RUCK

Speaking of unanimous, most of our experts are backing in the ruck trio of Max Gawn, Brodie Grundy and Giants rookie big man Matt Flynn, with only three opting for St Kilda’s mature-age signing Paul Hunter at R3.

FORWARD

There are a few points-of-difference floating around - West Coast high-flyer Liam Ryan the big one - but, with so much value on offer, two premium forward options could be the way to go in 2021. And after showing no sign of the limited pre-season, Patrick Dangerfield is a must, while Josh Dunkley, who had more contested possessions and tackles than any other player in the AAMI Series, isn’t far behind. Every coach is picking Jack Ziebell in his new role in the Kangaroos defence, which includes taking the kick-ins, and mature-age Crow James Rowe. Joe Daniher and Chad Warner weren’t quite as popular but the pair feature in more sides than Paddy Dow and a number of other on-field rookie options, including Miles Bergman and Tom Fullarton.

I don't want to sound too optimistic on him, I get the concern. I say easily because he's not been able to do it due to injury the last few years and think if he's fit he's got the skill set. Maybe "easily" is not the right word, but I just see it happening if his body stays strong. He was on his way to being that type of player before his body let him down with chronic groin and other issues since 2018. It's very much a case of if he was another 30k I wouldn't want him, but at that price I see enough upside and enough promise this preseason with a great change of circumstance to make me want to pick him. There's no Rozee for the first month or so as well. He's capable of some very big games as well, so he could see a quick spike with some luck.

Why do you prefer him down back? do you think the forward rookies are than down back? I think 3 on field forward rookies would be too many.

I do agree that 20% is quite high and a lot more than I would have expected. He is a bit of a risk and I'm not always a fan of risky picks with big ownership. I don't think he will prove a very difficult trade and that's one other thing I like about him.

Yeah down back because I don't like the rookies there. Though I see you already have young filling a similar role down back.

Instinctively I feel like I'd want to get you one more premo by sacrificing the 270k players and one of the fully-priced mids. Something like young, Oliver, fantasia for Daniel, rookie, dusty. But whether that rookie appears is a fair question. And presumably you have those players pencilled in for 80s, which would have it about 280 to 260 in favour to your lot. So what do I know? Those midpricery XvYs always seem a bit dodgy though.
