Potentially. On the other hand, longer quarters and even more older players might take a toll. Geelong's back half isn't set up for quick ball movement at all either. They've been at it with this style of play for some time now so it might not be as simple as flicking a switch. Perhaps it's just me hoping we won't be subjected to more Geelong and Chris Scott this September.

Saying it was almost impossible for Geelong to beat Richmond is probably inaccurate. Better to say they needed everything to go right, and for a half it almost did. When Richmond raised the pressure in both their games late last season Geelong's setup simply couldn't hold up with or without the ball. They were too tall, too old and too slow.
They seem to have realised that in defense though. Atkins in for Kolo would be a big start, Kolo is an absolute ball stopper for them, no attacking ability whatsoever, Atkins looked really good in the preseason. Stewart fit all year would help. Blitz to defense also helps this, lot more dash and dare than Taylor. Also was a clear focus with Higgins and Smith. Cameron gives them an extra target and a guy who can push up high and create alternative options. Clark the other obvious name that brings run and carry.

Dropping Kolodjashnij and/or Henry will definitely help. Even then I wouldn't expect Bews, O'Connor, Atkins, Blicavs and Henderson to contribute to fast ball movement. They'll be very dependent on run from Stewart and Clark (assuming he doesn't play like he did last season).

Not sure if its been covered here but if one was to go for GnR style team what is the number of keepers that should be a minimum?

I think 12 is about as far as you can push it, depends on your definition though. A bit more if you consider 500K still counts.
A true GnR for me is taking the best on each line and these guys are clearly the best of the best. You could run a premiums n rookies teams I guess PnR and settle for second best :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
I've gone about as GnR as you can and managed to squeeze to 13 + Clark and Ziebell:
5 defs over 500k
5 mids over 600k
3 forwards over 540k
... and no rucks.

Wish me luck!
