For those startingGawn/Grundy and two ruck rookies, what's yr order of rookies?
For me it's Flynn on field and Meek benched but Hunter as a 28yo does appeal as a good scorer .
Obviously job security comes into it as well.

Scoring: Flynn,Hunter,Meek(Darcy is there).
Cash cow(Security): Flynn,Meek,Hunter.
Gawndy R3: Flynn. (This is me until I see more teams drop.)

I'm hearing that Gawn is playing more forward with Jackson taking more ruck time and it's a concerning for me.

Is anyone feeling any more certain about their ruck setup after last night? I went back to Grawndy yesterday after getting spooked by Darcy already being in the Freo squad. Now I'm having second thoughts again, it would be great if Collingwood weren't playing tonight.

If games continue to be played like last night, only the most mobile rucks will benefit (cue Bevo). Not even Grundy, as good as he is he's still not the quickest and tends to slow things down when he gets the ball. Stef Martin at his peak (not so much now) would've destroyed his opponents in a game like last night, English is the only current ruck who can get close to that level. I don't know what Freo think will happen to Darcy if the fatigue trend continues, but I'm fairly certain it wouldn't be pretty.

At the moment I’m rolling with both. Currently a bit more confident in Grundy than I am in Gawn, probably due to his ability to win a bit more of the footy. I know that Grundy gets a lot of the footy around stoppages, but I do like the fact that he can function as a semi-midfielder as well.

Going to try and get a better read on things tonight, but will probably stay with Gawn.

Going al 3 rookies in the ruck. We never have so many rookie rucks available, at the same time, we have a rule change that is limiting the scoring power of rucks...1.4M is a lot to spend on players who you are expecting to drop 10-15 points each.

I’m far more sold on hunter js than others, reckon he stays in until Ryder returns, which could easily be a month or two in (listed as indefinite). Poor bloke was away for his kids for > 12 months.

Risk reward, time to live a little.

I was always going to pick Grundy so it will be down to his ability tonight. Currently have the Gawndy setup but I still prefer a better balance with rookie R2.

Understand things look a bit different this year but I remember the past few years premium rucks have done poorly in the first round then from R2 start smashing it, its like something changes in the way CD grades them.
I'm trying to not be put off from starting Gawndy.

I'm a bit the same. I didn't like what I saw last night but I'm happy to load up on GG and run with it. If they both tank, then I'll be doing some adjustment trades next week. For me, it's the lower risk approach compared to trying to adjust the other way.

I would trust that the coaches will figure out how to slow the game down, they do every year...

I've thought so too, not so sure now. Based on what we've seen last night and in the pre-season games, it would take another rule change or increasingly lax interpretation from the umpires as the season goes on to create more stoppages.
