Bit of a reshuffle for me.

Danger to H Young in defense. He was very close to starting in my side and i liked what i saw on the weekend.

Removes a Defender rookie from my field and adds another in the mid or fwd. Will now be fielding 2 rookies in each.

Gives me some more flexibility and 350k in the bank to move on a failed midpricer to a fallen premium early on. Namely, Neale, Gawn, Lloyd who had a poor scores.
And it looks like I'll need the cash already with Harmes having 6 weeks off with a broken wrist.

I'd personally be fine with Campbell being a bit more of a slower burn even at a higher $189k starting price. Kid will definitely come good you could see it in that first quarter. You don't want all your cows to be mooing all at once anyway and you have a lot of them to sift through Herbie.
Think you need to see their second score then you can look at BE and cash projections etc

I wouldn't think I have any more rookies than most

Highmore , Koschitzke , Sharp *

Berry , Campbell * , Fyfe * , Gulden , McNeil , Powell

Flynn , Hunter , Meek

Fullarton * , Rowe , Scott *

Decent start in Round 1 so just looking at my options to try and have a real crack.

Any thoughts around Sidebottom as an option for Dangerfield? Would be a fair POD with not many selecting in initial side after missing round 1. His scoring history would suggest that he's a good chance of ending as a top 6 forward. Previous to last year he was very consistent in terms of not missing games but is an interupted pre-season and the 'old-man' injury of a calf enough to stay away?

Yeah you've only got one more than I do I guess, but I'd still consider hanging onto Campbell even if he is a slower burn because the role is there for him and he has the tools to succeed at it.

Pretty happy with how I'm structured so it'll probably just be Danger>Dunkley for me. Will have another look at the rookies this week with an eye towards trading in the best 2 that I have missed next week, Jordan and Warner the front runners at the moment.

The news on Harmes certainly helps Jordan's JS - it will be interesting to see if Viney returns this week in place of Harmes & if so, how that effects Jordan's role/ scoring.

I've just realised that I overlooked Young in the backline.

Now considering going Rowell -> Young via J. Clark or Laird DPP.

Can still sit on Gulden for another week or bring him in for Brockman.

Would give me a little more time to consider which premo to pick up, while hopefully not taking as much of a hit in scoring and making a little cash off Young as a stepping stone.

Thoughts?

Just to give my 2c...

I would definitely keep Danger if I owned him, you’ve picked him as a clear number 1 forward and gets a three week break to heal his body a bit. He can be used as a loophole, and feel the points lost isn’t worth a trade.

Would also suggest holding off on trading rookies and premos out this week. The likes of Cahill and Grundy/Gawn (who I own all of) could easily put up a big score while the likes of Mills/Walsh/Jordan could look poor or even worse get injured/dropped/suspended.

You’d want those trades to aggressively upgrade those rookies when the fallen premos come in order to boost your team significantly.

Rowell is a tough price range, but would look to go to another premo. Right now you are planning to trade a premo to a rookie back to a premo.

Which Young, L or H?
Hayden.

I meant Hayden Young for the record - would that change your opinion?

For the guys in Rowell's price range +/- 50k I really want to watch them a bit more before going with one of them.

I could probably squeeze my way up to Titch just, but I'm reluctant to leave myself without any $$$ ITB in case something else happens in the early rounds that needs correcting.

Not saying I will trade him out , just looking at options.

Could be some extremely enticing players $ 425k and under depending on their Round 2 scores.

Danger + Campbell combine for a very workable price

Isn't Rowell's PCL the sort of thing you keep money ITB for? I would say being able to go Rowell -> Titch in one trade is something not many could do and worth locking in if you can!

Do you see H. Young as a keeper ?

If not then you are essentially trading him in to make money and then back to a premo again.

If you can get Titch I’d 100% do that.

I probably see young as someone who could easily average 85-90 down back up until the byes given his role, meaning that he ends up somewhere around the 450k mark and I'd be happy to lock him in for the first half of the season if needs be.

Going down to Young still leaves me with ~$350k ITB for another correction or early premo upgrade, so it's not like this move would happen in a vacuum and (in my mind at least) I'd could still theoretically end up with something close to two premo upgrades at a cost of 1.5 trades each in the long run (Rowell downgrade + 2 x rookie / mid price upgrades).

I really want to have a look at Titch over the next week or two against stiffer opposition before committing to him and leaving myself broke.

Prob no trades for me this round either. I’ve got Danger, but will be holding. I have most of the big-hitters besides Neale (Gawn,Grundy, Oliver, Macrae) and most of the good rookies from last week. So I’ll use this weekend to watch the others and get some more intel on both the rookies and the premos form 😊😎
