For those keeping Cripps (and I may be one of them) are we thinking along the lines of he still managed to average 85 in 2 weeks where he looked very ordinary and in losses and that maybe with some wins coming the Blues way and the odd contested mark and goal up forward things could swing quickly?
The one silver lining is that he looked excellent when played as an inside midfielder exclusively in the first half against Richmond. Yesterday he wasn't imposing himself at stoppages and was played up forward for the whole last quarter. He had a bad game in general and still outscored Williams who I thought was better (although he did turn it over a few times). I don't think he will be a premium this season but the first half against Richmond he looked like he was back to his best. He didn't run out the game in round one however which is probably more concerning than a good first half. I'm, inclined to trade as I have dodged the Dangerfield and Rowell situation but will only trade him up to a premium level midfielder.

I don't have him, but I guess the answer to your question is, do you expect he can turn it around for to average 95-105 for the rest of the year.

If the answer is yes, hold, if the answer is no, trade.

Given his value if you got 95-105+ still reaonable investment.

2 games is not much evidence to base your decision on I know, but that's all you have. Are the wins coming? :p

FRE, GCS, PTA, BRL, ESS, WBD are his next six.

I see them at best coming 3-3 out of those.

He had the chances last night for marks inside 50, not even contested, and somehow managed to drop them. Looks so lost as a forward.

I’m not sure if I’ll trade or not yet, but on the eye he’s looked shocking.

Laird is going to be a key plank I suspect in what a lot of coaches may eventually decide to do with Cripps.
I am very excited.

Without a reasonable amount of cash it might not be as easy as people think.

Top 10 priced mid players Round 1 scores

Neale 77
Steele 91
Oliver 122
Macrae 118
Petracca 98
Bont 92
Merrett 105
Hunter 100
Jelly 98
Danger - suspended

50% under 100 is hardly inspiring

Or do you bank on Brayshaw , McGrath , Walsh types etc being definite Top 10

go lower

Bazkenka , Cerra , Sloane , Swallow , Paddle Bum , LDU , Cement Head , TT , Heppell etc

are any of them Top 10 material ?

Defender premium via Laird could be the best move

Forward premium via Dunkley/Dusty

or down to a missed rookie and Bank the cash for upgrade season

Possibly Cripps to a ruck

Obviously need to see Round 2 scores to make a full assessment but :-

* keep Cripps
* rookie correction
* premium mid if have $$$
* speculative mid
* premium defender via Laird
* premium forward

Without knowing your team or cash... gonna suggest a general trade plan. (I think if you have roughly 40k the below plan could work)

But if you could somehow turn Danger + Rowell + Dow + (rookie or a failed midpricer like Daniher?)

Into Jordon + 3 semi keepers such as for example
H Clark + Taranto + Heeney. The 4 trades might not be a complete waste. If you already have any of the above then you can ignore all of this. You'd still have the Cripps problem and no Powell though.
Thanks mate. I've already got Taranto in my side, as tempting as Clark and Heeney look I'm more interested in the top-liners at this early stage.

Leaning towards:

Danger/Rowell > Dunkley/Titch (26k bank)

Next week:

Dow/McNeil > Powell/Jordon

Cripps is then my only 'issue' but who knows, maybe it's something I can deal with in a couple of weeks time. His price shouldn't drop too much.

Danger
Rowell
Cripps
No Powell
No Jordon

A few early issues for me there.

Think I'll still forge ahead with Danger/Rowell out, with one eye on Cripps/Dow to a premium mid + one of Powell/Jordon in next round should they appear 'essential'. Hate the idea of being down 4 trades so early, not much I can do about the Danger/Rowell situation mind you.

Very worried about Cripps. Looks like Hannebery a few seasons back.
I don't have Powell either. I couldn't fit him in after I played the early selected rookies.
I'm not that worried, he's getting midfield time but can turn it over.

There was a post when the cricket was on about having a spare trade and using it to trade out a player traded in this round without costing another trade, and trading the player back out for your original player returning your trade altogether. Can someone please clarify this. Cheers.

I've just confirmed both use cases of this with Dangerfield, this works exactly as you've described.

At this stage it's looking likely that I will be trading Cripps and rookie to Dusty/Dunkley and Jordon.
This is most likely plan at the moment. Though experience tells me to hold him. Driving me nuts as he looks like a paddy dow in a bigger body and dow kicks more often. Scores well for the little he is doing though. Trying to work out if it is changed rules, carlton game plan, or Cripps just not fit enough to run the game out.

Like the idea of more rookies in mid and a bit of depth in fwds as holding danger as well. Doc will end up F6/7 and could consign PC to m8/9. Not a lot of SC joy watching Carlton last night. Glad I don't have Williams to worry about at least. Walsh will be top scoring Blues player by a few hundred points.

While it is too early to make judgement on the overall performance of that top 10 this may well go back to last year and the fact that we have never had so many new inclusions in the top 10 from what you could only describe as a left field season. For mine there was always a question mark about how solid those results would be in terms of holding up for this year. Only time will tell but no surprise for mine to see guys like Petracca, Merrett and Hunter to drop off while the best chance of sticking could be Steele.

Glad i did not trade Danger this week. Not going to bleed cash on the bench. The way this game is going Neale has to go. BE of 192 before tonight, thats going to be a lot of cash down the toilet
