Good point.
Last time Brissy had one case I think they shut down the whole south east. WA shut down the whole south west with one case. Premiers might still get triggered although they seemed to have calmed down since they got re-elected. AFL being conservative and it's pretty convenient just to flip the venue with a return clash later in the year.
It is very convenient, but if gold coast is not a red zone then they could be given more options.

Top 12 after 2 Rounds by Average

Gulden 137.5
Flynn 109
Campbell 87
Warner 82
Jordon 80
McDonald 78.5
Highmore 68.5
Jones , J 68
Powell 64
Berry 64
Meek 62.5
Rowe 61.5
So after 2 Rounds looks like the ideal 13 premium starting structure would be :-

5 + Highmore
3 + Gulden , Campbell , Jordon , Powell , Berry
1 + Flynn
4 + McDonald , Warner

Meek & Rowe providing $$$ from the bench

obviously doesn't take into account the $ 200-300k stepping stones

Who are your 4 up forward though?
The problem was that there only looked like 3 decent premiums to start with (Danger, Dunks, Dusty) and then one got suspended.
So maybe Dusty, Dunkley, Heeney, Butters?

Doesn't seem quite 'premium' enough maybe

I guess it would have to be all done in hindsight though , I am sure the perfect starting team for Round 1 probably had 6-8 midpricers in it.

I guess for arguments sake for this exercise you would need 4 x $ 500k + guys so maybe Dangerfield , Dunkley , Martin & Zorko.

I guess the thing is both Gawn + Grundy or Flynn + Meek starting sides should theoretically still have 13 premiums and 9 rookies.

So if we take 60+ as a success for a rookie onfield that was the structure that looked best at this stage after 2 games (just my opinion).

Personally I think 9 starting rookies is too many as you are then looking at 18 "perfect" downgrade trades to fund the 9 onfield rookies upgrade = 27 trades.

Not leaving many to fix things.

Seems though GnR is ingrained into people as the best starting structure.

Be interesting now to see how many of the $ 200-300k starting price players will prove successful starting picks.

I'm interested to hear your thoughts Herbie as I'm running with 9 rookies on field.

My 'premo's' were:

Lloyd-Laird-Stewart-Short

Macrae-Merrett-Oliver-Steele-Kelly-Gaff

Danger-Dusty-Dunkley

I've already moved Danger > Titch and tossing up what to do with Gaff, probably to a Fwd premo (I have no idea as to who yet)

Ideally hoping that I would fill D5-6, M7-8 and F4-6 with cheaper upgrade options. R1-2 will be the most expensive upgrades and I might end up with 1 or 2, 2nd tier rucks.

I don't have access to how much rookies rise in price so I'm assuming that I'll get maybe 6 traditional one up/one down type trades, using 12 trades. The other 3 upgrades will hopefully need just the 3 trades each, so another 9 trades. That might be overly optimistic, so even with 4 x one up/one down trades I'll need to use or budget 23 trades to get a 'full' side.

I'll have already used 3 trades for corrections/suspension leaving me only 4 trades for LTI's/suspensions for the year.

My assumptions might be totally out of whack and I'm probably running with an 'ideal' type scenario, but I think it's doable with a lot of luck and good timing/trades.

Based on hindsight the 13 premium structure probably needed to be :-

5-4-0-4 for a a all rookie starting ruck

or

5-3-1-4 for starting Gawn/Grundy

At this stage the "boom" recruits (aside from Rucks appear to be)

Highmore
Berry , Gulden , Powell , JordOn
Campbell , McDonald , Warner

(12 currently averaging over 60+).

The problem I am seeing already is the bench rookies appear to going to struggle to generate enough $$$ (although Brockman , Lazarro , McNeil scored reasonably well so.maybe their is a chance) while a few of the popular ones could have JS issues already.

Looking at your team you appear 1 premium light in defence (so many NM Premiums to choose from)

Can you go Gaff - > Ridley if not by a rookie D/M then use Laird

Who is your D5-8 ?

You seem too heavy in the mids , if you can field 3 of Campbell , Gulden & JordOn and then move Berry & Powell to the bench or field Campbell forward.

Heeney will always be my value pick forward or seriously would take Walker for 4-6 weeks and hope he gets to $ 450k.

Looks to be in the best shape of his career , the game and scoring has changed from previous seasons.

Theoretically he won't be a season long keeper but maybe he gets close.

Footywire I find the best place for BE and projected cash gains/losses for individual players.

TooSerious is another good site @Professor loves it when I give them a plug 😀

My simple formula is :-

$ 125k starting price ideally makes $ 150k profit = $ 275k

so 2 downgrade rookies to new rookies gives me $ 300k profit

2 down to fund 1 upgrade = $ 275 + $ 300 = $ 575 k premium to trade in

Hopefully I can get them for $ 525k ish

Rucks will be different though.

Plenty of D & F in that $ 200-300k bracket that could be value in bringing in this round eg Cumming , Jiath , Switkowski etc etc

Just need to get the must have "boom" recruits onfield and get the right structure

Hope some of that makes sense and helps

Thanks Herbie, that's quite insightful.

I ended up heavy in the mids because of the Danger > Titch move, that'll be rectified by bringing in a Fwd for Gaff as I'm heavy with rookies on field there.

After 2 trades this week I'll have the following rookies:

Def------J Clark (not tech. a rookie) Highmore, Kosi & Sharp
Mid------Gulden, JordOn, Powell, Berry & McNeil
Ruc------Flynn, Meek, Hunter
Fwd------Campbell, Rowe, Brockman, Fullarton, Scott

By the looks of things Gulden, Campbell, Flynn and Jordan could each make 300-350k (probs a bit high)
Powell, Berry & Meek 250k
Highmore & Kosi 200k
Brockman & Clark 150k
It would be a bonus if the others hung around long enough to make any $

Obviously my price assumptions are speculative and might not meet my lofty expectations. With a bit of luck there's 4 one up/one down trades there already and I'm hoping that other rookies will present themselves throughout the year, after last years hit to the junior ranks I would expect that quite a few will take a while to get up to speed, Phillips being a prime example.

Edit......The rucks for me rely on CCJ and Treacy (was hoping Fullarton too) getting games long enough for some cash gen. allowing only 2 trades to upgrade (with a wad of cash ITB)
