Come hell or highwater Gawn will be my R2 before 4:35pm on Saturday. With Chapman replacing Daniel in Defence. Haven't made the trades purely to avoid Gawn getting gastro or have a car accident between trading him and starting the game. Then Diligaf to all AFL coaches as my rucks will be set for the year.

Will owners finally get a three figure score from Neale tomorrow?

From exactly 1 month ago on the eve of round 1....wonder when this mystery injury occurred

A NAGGING calf injury did not slow Lachie Neale's pre-season progress, with Brisbane's Brownlow medallist warning he's added more weapons to his artillery ahead of Saturday night's round one match against Sydney.

Neale admitted to being frustrated after missing a "fair chunk" of pre-season through January and early February, but says he's now never felt fitter.

"I missed quite a bit of training, but I was doing a fair bit of running," he said following a light session on Tuesday morning.

"I feel probably the fittest I've been leading into a season, I've done a lot of running. I feel strong, powerful and ready to go."

Don't know if it's been said but us Dusty non-owners got lucky tonight. 34 and a goal can translate to a very big SC score. We're lucky Dusty butchered it!

Edit: I see it has been said. Lots thinking it!
On the flipside as someone who watched the game and doesn't have Dusty I'm actually kind of dirty how good his ratio was, he was absolutely terrible last night and his ratio was a kiss on the **** from CD. Kind of game where you expected him to have 110 in DT (didn't notice him not marking/tackling in the game) and about 75SC he was that bad. Basically he was a far worse version of what Taranto dished up last week and he was a 129:90 type game.

Not sure how Ben Long gets a game ahead of Highmore personally, with Webster injured also he has to come in next week you would think.

Saints were just insipid in the 2nd half, expect many changes next week - Brad Hill literally checked out tonight after being very good the week before v WCE. Certainly not a 800K a year player that’s for sure, way too many games he goes completely missing.
To be fair I imagine that his ability to play at both ends makes him a preferable choice for the sub even if that ability is somewhat questionable.

Ratten does a lot of odd things as a coach, one of those coaches who has an inherent need to get cute and do things his own way whether it makes sense or is good for the team. Had the same problem at Carlton.

Gut feel call - tempted to play Bergman
I'll be playing him. He's replacing Duursma on a wing, great role for him. Doesn't mean he'll score well but his role is considerably better than Rowe/Scott/Waterman/Brockman and he's not Dow... Even if he's flicked to the HB and they go with Jones, Hartlett or Burton to the wing it's still a much better role.

I'm fully ready for the 20 but I'll die on the hill his role is better!

Agree. For those considering bringing him in, how's his JS now with injuries and so forth? @BigRuss ?
Personally I think he's got a chance to hold it but he's going to have to perform. Rockliff, Farrell and SPP are all on the fringe right now nipping for a spot and they've got enough versatile guys to pick them in other positions and rearrange the structure. Right now though Bergman is getting the first crack at and I expect he probably takes the wing slot to kick things off. Hopefully can take advantage.

We want Bergman in the team. Has been the 23rd picked player all summer. 2 injuries to top 10 players means he has a spot to lose. As I said earlier in the week I’m fairly certain Houston gets pushed to the wing and Berg gets his spot as a running defender.

If he can break the habit of over kicking the ball, as he does so often, there’s enough give in the role for a spike score I reckon. More chance than Waterman anyway.

Really unsure what to do with trades this round.
Initially i was only planning the one trade of either Campbell or Jordon to Waterman and bank the cash for next week to bring in a premo def or mid.

Now with the news of Meek dropped and possibly Flynn not coming back in & obtaining the $$$ from the 1st trade, is Meek to Hickey a smart or reasonable trade? It would allow me to get to Grundy or Nic Nat for example in the near future as i went with Gawn, Flynn & Meek as my rucks.

Currently sitting at 193 overall so it's a pretty important decision. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Note: Sorry i just realised i posted this in the wrong thread (should be in the R5 trades one), apologies.
Normally I would say take the donut, but as your sitter at 193 you may as well go for it and get Hickey in. Otherwise you will be asking yourself what if, for the rest of the season. My 2cents

Do we actually expect Meek to play in the immediate future without injuries to their ruck stock?

What's the point of having a $213k rookie sit there for the rest of the season?

Meek > Treacy if Flynn isn't named
I will probably do the same. Was moving Meek to Gawn next week hopefully anyway but now I will just trade a fwd rookie to Gawn instead swinging Treacy to the forward line and moving Flynn to R3. Will cash out Flynn when he is ready and move Treacy back to R3.

Traded Meek to Waterman, Fullarton to R3. Even if Meek does get back in some time cant see him producing decent scores with Darcy in the team.

This is a terrible idea. Unless you need a donut that doesn't float for the large majority of the season. Something to be avoided at Round 5.
Depends if you think Treacy is going to play for the season, which I don't particularly think he will. Treacy won't float for me without a R/F link anyway.

Meek is done making money and done playing, so is a 211K donut. I'm using the 110K from trading him this week.

Last night Short's score went up by one for doing exactly that. Uncontested mark. Short pass directly to Steele which directly lead to a goal on turnover as the Richmond players were out of position. I know supercoach is a formula but ideally there should be more reflection of reality.
