Should we have a forum team where we vote the squad and vote for trades? Lol
But someone has to be in charge of it and stuff and you can't have more than 2 Teams. 99.9% the members on here would have their own Teams, so it wouldn't work. :/

However, it is a funny idea. :p

This may sound really stupid but how do I log out? Can't seem to find the button. Not very happy with the new site, lack of the scroll function is very backwards.

Is anyone here interested in doing a sc keeper league? I will admit that I will be a lot more focussed on my sc classic and my draft league with my mates, but the idea seems very cool

Actually Nk, I got a PM from benderiffic about that a day or two back.
I actually think he was asking about Supercoach Draft game and was confused we were doing something like that, but they will be nothing like each other except both have a draft to begin with.
Some time today I will register my SC account for 2014 and find out more about SC Draft keeper league option but I'm not expecting much...lol....

I'm not bothering with any version of SC Draft game for 2014. More than happy to play FDL and Keeper league starting away from those sites.

When AFL Fantasy have their site have a go at it, I'm happy to give it a go , just to see how "Fanhub" run one but for that, I will simply join a league rather than start one.

I found Virtual Sports attempt at draft games a bit ordinary last season although still had fun in end doing it for one season. It is really like simply drafting a team rather than a squad the way SC Draft do it. You manage a team via waiver systems which was interesting but not my cup of tea for long term for playing draft style games.
The emergency system was crap too, bugs in Trade Centre and having only a final 8 option for a final series was kind of laughable for a 10 team league. They treated the AFL byes as normal rounds too so your team only had 12 AFL teams to choose from, rather than 18.

Very ordinary 1st attempt at draft games by Virtual Sport.
Almost scared to look at their idea of running a keeper league.
Site I'm sure looks good but after that, the actual game I don't have much confidence it would be anything like I would want to do.

I had the same Question yesterday. :p Here's how to Log Out. :)

A couple of other things that I've noticed are missing:
* Log out button. Not that anyone ever uses it though, considering we just close the tab/window/browser. :p
* Can't CHANGE a password. :/
You have to change the password through your news pass. Click on the profile thing in the top right hand corner and in settings you can change it :).

Edit: You can also logout from there I'm pretty sure.
Took me ages to find the Log out Button - look at the very top of the page on the left hand side. You will see a small "button" with your name on it. Press this and it will give you the option to log out (so obscure!). I don't think you can log out by just closing the browser page (didn't work for me anyway)
Also, to change password, go to the "settings" button on the right hand side of the screen. I think it is another button with your name and small "cog" icon.
I hope I have got this right as I am going from memory from using it earlier today and I currently can't access the site (surprise surprise)

I played the draft game last year and yes there were a few minor issues but all in all everything worked out fine. I guess the game can be whatever you want it to be, and the system my friends and I have with it really brings out the fun in it.

As I said I won't be taking the keeper style as seriously as the others, but if anyone is interested in giving it a go please PM me. Leagues can be as small as 4 and as large as 18

I registering with Supercoach now. Should be interesting if I experience frustration that you guys seem to experience before me. Hopefully they fixed most of the early mayhem from happening again although right now I clicked to read one section and now no page is loaded....lol

Yeah, it was still fun in it's own way, just don't be surprised if the occassional bug shows up in trade centre or half your team is missing in Match Centre one round ..lol.. Our Grand Final last year was still fun with Hairy and Zim^Zum playing off. Still could not see scores for it a day or so after as they did not keep a copy of Match Centre for us. Both teams spent time on bottom of ladder but made Grand Final :)
The fun of a final series of 8 teams from a 10 team league.
Your never out of it...lol

Found the SC pages to load again.
One improvement SC Draft have made for those of you that play it for 2014 is you will now have option to skip playing games during the byes. That is better than what they did last season where it was kind of a joke where the only option to field a team in an AFL bye round was to trade your non-playing players out of your team simply to field 18 in those rounds but then you risk not getting those players of yours back as anyone can pick them up via free agent waiver system.
You can only have 22 players in a squad so no scope for truly managing a squad of 30 or more.

Those of you that play it in 2014, I recommend taking the new option of skipping those rounds and make your season active in the other 20 AFL rounds. Maybe even skip round one also and play 18 weeks with an 8 team league.
Probably the best option they allow in restricted way they doing things in their draft game.
8 teams.. play each other twice over 14 rounds then 4 weeks of final 8 series.... :)
Every team qualifies for finals :)

Will we have a statistical pointes to the next Dangerfield, Beams (and Wingard) article this year? I thought last years research was fantastic and would be very interested to see who the stats point out as breakout candidates this year. I was also interested in understanding the statistics that you ended up using to make these analysis but I understand that this may be something kept a secret (got to have an advantage somewhere if you are doing all of this research).

I'm not sure I will get time, JT. I will try, but I'm guessing the season will come up on me too quickly.
Thanks for asking though! :)

Does anyone else get the feeling there are going to be an awfully lot of similar teams this year, even more so than other years?

Maybe my team is a bit more cookie-cutter than last year but in the last month I have seen one team that had the exact same 10 midfield line as I had and another team that had the same exact 8 backline players that I had at the time. Then there are lots of occasions where I notice someone having the same premium combination in a line as myself.

It is almost like the POD's may come in the form of the one or two common players that many have that you decide for one reason or another to leave out of your team...

I was actually thinking about that as well, Philzsay!

Like Mitchell, Hanley, Suckling, Gaz, Pendles, Beams, Minson/Goldy (Even possibly both), Dangerfield, Tex, etc. Even Rookies are probably going to be VERY VERY similar as well because of how limited they are.

What's gonna be the real decider in winning SC is the other Players or smokey players in our Teams and when we trade out Rookies once they we believe they are cashed up (Something that affected me very badly last year as many of you would know :p).

IMO only -
Don't start one of the 3 'value' mids and/or JMartin and you have a POD midfield
Don't start a 'value' ruck and you have a semi-POD ruck line
Bit more variation in the prem backs
Top line of the fwds will be the same for pretty much everyone
Rookies - no point talking about them until the NAB, I half expect there to be more choice than what people think there will be atm.

:)

Yep. I think Sir Rowsus' cookie cutter experiment last year was a sobering revelation for coaches. Am expecting more similar starting teams this year (guess we will be able to tell from the increased percentage in ownership of top 30 players compared to 2013). That said, it's like formula 1 racing where it gets you on the starting grid. Trading differentiates the top coaches (like you Philzsay) compared to average coaches (like me)!

I think similar teams come hand in hand with people browsing so many sites Phil. The more teams you see the more ideas of what to do/not do creep into our heads. Especially with sites of this calibre there are some very good teams floating around.

For instance I think mine and NKs teams are going to be scarily similar from his comments/philosophies regarding players.

They've obviously not read Rowsus' share trading articles! ;)
