There has been no given reason...
Reason that make sense...
1. He's told them he's leaving so they're trying to devalue him as much as possible to change his mind or force his hand to stay.
2. Leon Cameron is a moron. This one makes the most sense.
3. He's injured, would make sense except he's moving so freely and well and covering the ground great and just showing no signs of being injured except for his role.
4. Leon Cameron is a moron. I might have mentioned this but he's got a years long track record of doing stupid things.
5. Leon Cameron genuinely doesn't think he's in their best midfielders. This is a nice way of me writing that Leon Cameron is a moron.

I remember Buddy was played out of position in his final year at Hawthorn. Coach must have figured he was better off preparing the team for when franklin wasn't there. I had assumed maybe the same thing is happening at GWS or he has a niggle/injury no one is aware of.

All that heat map shows is how stupid it is that he's playing forward because it shows where he's actually effective at finding the ball and also further confirms he's not playing his best role (by a mile) of on ball.
This is a guy playing as a forward who still finds considerably more ball in the back half.
The other factor is the Giants are so terrible at moving the ball forward that he (and everyone else) have to push that far to find the ball, check out their other midfielders and you can see just how much he's actually playing forward, Ward and Hopper are like 70% defensive possessions the last few weeks while Kelly is 50/50 at best.
If he was playing midfield he'd have twice as many dots, that's kind of the problem and given the guys they've got kicking the ball instead of him it's a pretty strong case for the coach not having a clue and is a huge reason why they can't transition the ball out of defense.
