Just wanted to put this thread up because I think this is the most important decision a supercoach will make before round 1...
Currently I am lining up with 14 players in the <240 price range & 4 players from 240>440 (thanks to some advise from Rowsus)

Sounds like you've balanced your squad a bit better now. :)
I currently have: 15 under $240k, and 3 $240k-$440k players

Had a quick look back at DimmaWits' team. He had 2 players in that 240-440K price range in starting team. Cloke at $436K and Karnezis at $262K. Cloke was under-priced in 2013 thanks to his down year in 2012, not helped by his contract issues. Karnezis was the NAB Cup bolter and we all know what happened there! Before round 3, JB swapped Karnezis for JJK which was a great move. Then he brought in L'Berger at $342K before round 4 when he became available for selection. However, think most coaches would recommend Guns 'n' Rookies with an eye on value.

LOL, I'm not sure the "Great" applies!

I've got 15 in the 0 -240k group as well. I've got 2 in the 240 -440 range but I haven't finished spending yet.

so far 6 midpricers (3 in defence, 1 mid, 1 ruck, 1 fwd), 14 rookies which means the rest (10) are premiums..

I think the increase in rookie prices this year maybe warrants a slight change in strategy?

Hahaha that's kind of uncanny since how much love they're receiving. I wonder if the 3 players we do have are the same... I'm fairly confident 2 might be, in Grimes and Pavlich but the 3rd i'm not sure of.

I too haven't finished spending, i have 150+ in the bank that i'm not sure where to spend yet. I will probably wait till after the NAB challenge before deciding how best to spend some of it.

Yeah same here only its over 300k. The thing is that I'm pretty happy with the squad at the moment. There's a couple of things I should probably look at but it just feels like spending for spending's sake

Pavlich yes, Grimes no. I'm still applying the salve after getting burnt by him last year!

I got 3 teams picked so far.

My team from SC team picker before SC opened for 2014 is screen saved, I picked that back in December some time.
Jay's Team planner on this site and the opened SC 2014 version I picked very recently.
It varies from as little as 2 players in the $240 to $440 K price range to 7 in another team. All teams were picked at different times, at least a week apart so will be interesting to see which team I end up going closer with in actual round 1 as each time I picked I barely remembered the other teams I picked already except a dozen players at most.

$0 to $240k = 15
$240k to $440 = 3 (Suckling [will probably change to rookie], Sandi and Pav)

Currently I have 5 in the 240K - 440K range, mainly because I am not confident in the forward rookies so have 3 in the forward line. One in defence and one in the ruck

I have 14 in the >240K.

I'm with you Deeman. I currently have 6 in the 240K-440K range, because I have little confidence in the back or forward rookies. Taking out Kersten all the FWD rookies seem to be strong vest candidates to me. And we all know the issues with lack of defence rookies. Hard to see things changing too much over the NAB Cup but lets hope.
