North Melbourne’s players will be forced to complete a 14-day quarantine upon returning to Victoria this weekend, but the players will be granted special exemptions to train and play while in isolation.

The Kangaroos travelled to Perth on Friday ahead of their round six fixture against the Fremantle Dockers at Optus Stadium.

Less than one hour after touching down in Perth, Western Australia Premier Mark McGowan announced the Perth and Peel regions would enter a three-day lockdown following a minor spike in community transmission of COVID-19.
Perth was subsequently declared a “red zone” by the Victorian Government.
North Melbourne’s game against Fremantle went ahead, albeit without spectators in bizarre scenes reminiscent of the 2020 premiership — the Dockers secured a comfortable 14.15 (99) to 6.12 (48) victory.

The Herald Sun reported North Melbourne’s players would be tested for COVID-19 when they returned from Perth on Sunday before completing a mandatory two-week quarantine, which will end on Sunday, May 9.
Although the Kangaroos will be locked in their homes, players will be able to train and prepare for matches, according to the report.
The Age reported that next weekend’s match between North Melbourne and the undefeated Melbourne Demons at Hobart’s Blundstone Arena will go ahead as planned.
However, the AFL could potentially relocate the round seven match to Marvel Stadium in Docklands.
Meanwhile, Fremantle and the West Coast Eagles are scheduled to take part in a West Australian derby next weekend, meaning no interstate teams will be travelling to or from Perth.
Perth registered one additional COVID-19 case on Saturday.

Warner probably ready to trade now that Rowbottom is back.
I have Phillips and Warner I can use this week. Gulden, Flynn, Powell, Jordon and Campbell after that. Then.............. crickets.
Assuming Ziebell and Impey are keepers I have 7 spots to fill and rookies making enough cash for 3, maybe 4 of those 7 spots.
I'm tempted to use Ridley but he has about the easiest job in the comp with all the kick ins. Grundy seems a non negotiable as clearly the second best ruck, and the forwards are poor anyway.
The question I'm pondering at the moment is in the mids. Do I chase Oliver, Neale and Steele or go cheaper to help me complete my team?
Just saw this, but my suggestion would be to continue targeting the top guys. You can always compromise more on later “premos” if you need to, but you can’t un-compromise on those you pick now.

I ended up picking Oliver and keeping Ridley which worked. I was close to picking Neale. Grundy and Steele are the only 2 I don't have that I would consider important. Who knows how the forward line will end up but I'll try not to contemplate that at the moment. Surely Toby Greene can't be a reliable pick!

Nicely done - that sounds like a good approach. Danger and especially Dusty should drop some cash when they come back, so while there’s not a lot of proven candidates right now, I reckon it may make sense to pencil in some upgrades there in a month or so.

Team Tips: Hogan ‘cherry ripe’ for AFL return; Blues may finally cull troubled veterans
Matt Balmer and Max Laughton from Fox Sports

After back-to-back standout performances in the VFL, Leon Cameron will find it difficult to leave out Jesse Hogan from the club’s side.
While Carlton has been urged to make a statement at selection. But who is in the gun?
That and more in this week’s edition of AFL Team Tips!

RICHMOND v WESTERN BULLDOGS

Friday April 30, 7.50pm at the MCG
Last week’s Tigers team
B: D.Astbury, N.Balta, D.Grimes
HB: N.Broad, B.Houli, J.Short
C: K.McIntosh, T.Cotchin, M.Pickett
HF: D.Rioli, K.Lambert, J.Castagna
F: T.Lynch, D.Martin, J.Riewoldt
FOLL: T.Nankervis, S.Edwards, J.Graham
I/C: R.Mansell, S.Bolton, J.Aarts, L.Baker
SUB: J.Ross
Team Tips: A losing record looms large with the Tigers set to lose two, and possibly three, stars to injury for Friday night‘s clash with the Bulldogs. Dustin Martin (concussion) and Kane Lambert (calf) are confirmed outs, with Lambert to miss several weeks, while Dylan Grimes (ankle) had scans and is currently a test for Round 7. Nick Vlastuin (knee) remains a week away while Dion Prestia suffered a calf injury while recovering from an existing hamstring complaint, setting him back several weeks. In terms of replacements, Round 6 sub Jack Ross will be heavily considered, along with emerging youngsters Maurice Rioli and Riley Collier-Dawkins. Sydney Stack played well at VFL level on the weekend and has served his suspension dating back to last year, likewise Callum Coleman-Jones who is banging down the door for an AFL return. Mabior Chol also impressed in the loss to Casey; it’s just a matter of how tall the Tigers want to be against a speedy Bulldogs outfit.

Last week’s Bulldogs team
B: T.Duryea, A.Keath, E.Wood
HB: L.Vandermeer, A.Naughton, L.Hunter
C: C.Daniel, B.Smith, B.Dale
HF: A.Treloar, Z.Cordy, J.Dunkley
F: T.English, J.Bruce, M.Bontempelli
FOLL: S.Martin, J.Macrae, T.Liberatore
I/C: A.Scott, J.Johannisen, H.Crozier, L.Jong
SUB: L.McNeil
Team Tips: It was a brutal night in Canberra, with the ladder leaders losing midfield pair Josh Dunkley (shoulder reconstruction) and Lin Jong (hamstring) to long term injuries, while Tim English will miss a week through concussion after an accidental knee from teammate Aaron Naughton. Fortunately for Luke Beveridge, the Bulldogs aren‘t lacking midfield depth, as anyone who saw their VFL triumph over the Giants last Thursday night can attest. Patrick Lipinski could come straight back in after being omitted, likewise Ben Cavarra. Theoretically Jordon Sweet could replace English, but both Sweet and Stefan Martin are more pure rucks than ruck-forwards, making it a bit awkward. If Beveridge just wants a tall forward, Round 6 emergency Josh Schache is the easy answer, but after watching No.2 draft pick Riley Thilthorpe star with five goals in his AFL debut, could the Dogs unleash No.1 selection Jamarra Ugle-Hagan? He has eight goals in two VFL matches, and club great Brad Johnson said last week Ugle-Hagan would “dominate” right now at AFL level, given the quality of chances he’d receive from this midfield. However debuting against Richmond on a Friday night wouldn’t exactly be easing into the AFL.

COLLINGWOOD v GOLD COAST
Saturday May 1, 1.45pm at the MCG

Team Tips: With six players under 10 games, and 11 players under 30 games, in the Anzac Day side it‘s clear the rebuild has begun at Collingwood. The question is whether a 1-5 start will tempt Nathan Buckley into selecting mature players, in an effort to win some games and ease the pressure on him and the club, or if they’ll stay the young course. The Pies’ kicking out of defence has been poor, but you’re not going to drop main culprits Brayden Maynard and Jack Crisp, are you? Jordan De Goey should return if he is over his concussion, while Mark Keane is available after serving his one-match ban for tripping. Caleb Poulter could become the fourth 2020 Magpies draftee to make his AFL debut, after the No.30 pick starred in the VFL with 27 disposals; No.23 selection Reef McInnes may still be a little while away.

Team Tips: Stuart Dew made a statement last week, dropping three, and the Suns responded with arguably their most impressive game of the season (given the level of opposition). Based on that we‘re not expecting too many changes; the main exception being a potential AFL return for Zac Smith, who got through his first VFL outing successfully after a knee injury. Will Brodie (31 disposals, two goals) also pushed his case.

ADELAIDE CROWS v GWS GIANTS
Saturday May 1, 2.10pm at the Adelaide Oval
Last week’s Crows team
B: J.Kelly, J.Butts, L.Brown
HB: T.Doedee, B.Smith, W.Hamill
C: L.Sholl, B.Keays, N.McHenry
HF: J.Rowe, E.Himmelberg, R.Thilthorpe
F: S.McAdam, T.Walker, L.Murphy
FOLL: R.O’Brien, R.Laird, P.Seedsman
I/C: D.Fogarty, H.Schoenberg, J.Hately, A.McPherson
SUB: T.Lynch
Team Tips: After a troubling second-half fade out, we wouldn‘t be shocked to see a few changes at selection, though Rory Sloane still looks a week or two away. Billy Frampton starred in the SANFL with seven goals, 19 disposals and 12 marks; he had played every AFL game before Round 6, but it’s hard to include him over Riley Thilthorpe when the No.2 pick kicked five goals on debut, the most for any player since 2003. Veteran David Mackay will be considered while Fischer McAsey remains stuck in the state league after last month’s reports he was keen on a trade home to Victoria. We suspect Adelaide won’t be so silly as to name an injured player as their substitute again.
Last week’s Giants team
B: J.Buckley, S.Taylor, L.Keeffe
HB: H.Perryman, I.Cumming, L.Ash
C: X.O’Halloran, J.Hopper, N.Haynes
HF: B.Hill, T.Greene, B.Daniels
F: J.Kelly, J.Finlayson, H.Himmelberg
FOLL: M.Flynn, T.Taranto, C.Ward
I/C: C.Idun, C.Stone, J.Riccardi, T.Green
SUB: T.Bruhn
Team Tips: Jesse Hogan looks all-but-certain to finally make his Giants debut after a stellar outing in the VFL last Thursday night. The ex-Docker and Demon has kicked seven goals in two weeks, and Leon Cameron said after GWS‘ loss to the Bulldogs that Hogan was “cherry ripe … without confirming it right now, he’s clearly a massive chance to play next weekend”. Nick Haynes (hamstring) and Xavier O’Halloran (shoulder) may both need replacing, with Matt Buntine and Tanner Bruhn among the potential inclusions. Lachie Whitfield (liver) still needs game-time at VFL level before returning to the seniors.

ST KILDA v HAWTHORN
Saturday May 1, 4.35pm at Marvel Stadium
Last week’s Saints team
B: D.Howard, C.Wilkie, B.Long
HB: H.Clark, J.Carlisle, N.Coffield
C: J.Sinclair, B.Crouch, B.Hill
HF: D.Butler, J.Battle, J.Higgins
F: T.Membrey, J.Billings, M.King
FOLL: R.Marshall, J.Steele, S.Ross
I/C: D.Joyce, D.McKenzie, Z.Jones, J.Lonie
SUB: J.Bytel
Team Tips: After another non-competitive loss, the Saints will surely make a selection statement; though two changes could be forced, with Bradley Hill batting Achilles soreness, while Daniel McKenzie will miss through suspension. In a major boon to the midfield, Paddy Ryder is ready to return and partner up with Rowan Marshall in the ruck. The omitted Luke Dunstan did his thing at VFL level, racking up 46 disposals, while Ryan Brynes (25 disposals, five marks) will again be considered. Jimmy Webster (groin) could return while James Frawley (hamstring) may make his way back via the VFL.
Last week’s Hawks team
B: H.Morrison, K.Hartigan, C.Jiath
HB: B.Hardwick, S.Frost, J.Impey
C: O.Hanrahan, T.Mitchell, J.Cousins
HF: S.Burgoyne, J.Koschitzke, J.O’Meara
F: C.Wingard, M.Lewis, L.Breust
FOLL: B.McEvoy, L.Shiels, J.Worpel
I/C: J.Scrimshaw, D.Moore, T.Phillips, T.O’Brien
SUB: F.Maginness
Team Tips: After all of the concerns about the Hawks‘ underpowered forward line, suddenly they have too many to choose from, despite Tim O’Brien moving to the other end of the ground (and looking much more settled in defence). Rising Star nominee Jacob Koschitzke has to hold his spot, but Emerson Jeka keeps banging down the door in the VFL, kicking five goals from 20 disposals. In even bigger news Jack Gunston may finally be ready following December back surgery.

BRISBANE LIONS v PORT ADELAIDE
Saturday May 1, 7.25pm at the Gabba
Last week’s Lions team
B: D.Rich, H.Andrews, C.Ah Chee
HB: D.Gardiner, R.Lester, G.Birchall
C: D.Zorko, Z.Bailey, M.Robinson
HF: H.McCluggage, J.Daniher, L.McCarthy
F: D.McStay, E.Hipwood, C.Cameron
FOLL: O.McInerney, J.Lyons, L.Neale
I/C: D.Robertson, J.Prior, M.Adams, B.Starcevich
SUB: T.Berry
Team Tips: Chris Fagan will need to make a number of changes ahead of the massive game with Port Adelaide. Star onballer Lachie Neale is likely to miss two months with an ankle injury, while key defender Darcy Gardiner won’t feature after a concussion. With Jack Payne injured, the Lions don’t have too many options to play as talls, Noah Answerth could be a candidate to play on a raft Power smalls, while Rhys Mathieson’s strong VFL performance might not be overlooked. Jarrod Berry is no certainty to return to the side after an injury in Round 5.
Last week’s Power team
B: R.Burton, T.Clurey, A.Aliir
HB: H.Hartlett, T.Jonas, D.Byrne-Jones
C: D.Houston, O.Wines, K.Amon
HF: O.Fantasia, M.Georgiades, S.Motlop
F: M.Bergman, C.Dixon, R.Gray
FOLL: S.Lycett, T.Boak, C.Rozee
I/C: T.Marshall, W.Drew, B.Woodcock, M.Frederick
SUB: S.Mayes
Team Tips: Sam Powell-Pepper banged down the door with an outstanding performance in the SANFL with the midfielder grabbing 34 disposals and eight clearances. There aren’t too many spots up for grabs so it will leave coach Ken Hinkley with a difficult call.

SYDNEY SWANS v GEELONG CATS
Saturday May 1, 7.25pm at the SCG
Last week’s Swans team
B: H.Cunningham, L.Melican, J.Lloyd
HB: J.Dawson, K.Brand, G.Hewett
C: O.Florent, C.Mills, N.Blakey
HF: C.Warner, I.Heeney, W.Hayward
F: T.Papley, S.Reid, E.Gulden
FOLL: C.Sinclair, L.Parker, J.Rowbottom
I/C: H.McLean, J.Kennedy, J.McInerney, S.Wicks
SUB: B.Campbell
Team Tips: The Sydney Swans team looked mighty tired against the Suns which could seen a reinforcement of fresh legs from the VFL to come in. Youngster Dylan Stephens had over 30 touches with Sam Gray, Ryan Clarke and Colin O’Riordan also in the best. Tall forward Sam Reid is out through injury with top-10 pick Logan McDonald seemingly certain to take his spot. A concussion to George Hewett will role him out of the game against Geelong.
Last week’s Cats team
B: L.Henderson, M.Blicavs, J.Henry
HB: T.Atkins, J.Kolodjashnij, T.Stewart
C: I.Smith, C.Guthrie, S.Menegola
HF: L.Dahlhaus, J.Cameron, B.Parfitt
F: G.Rohan, T.Hawkins, B.Close
FOLL: R.Stanley, M.Duncan, J.Selwood
I/C: J.Bews, G.Miers, Z.Tuohy, M.O’Connor
SUB: J.Clark
Team Tips: Despite the big win for the Cats on Saturday they may need to make a number of changes for the trip to Sydney after injuries to Mark O’Connor and Jake Kolodjashnij, with hamstring and knee issue respectively. Jordan Clark is lacking match fitness with coach Chris Scott flagging the sub would need to play a full match after consecutive games without full action. Given Sydney’s tall forward stocks have taken a hit, it might be two midfielders in the selection frame with Charlie Constable and Max Holmes among the best in the VFL, while Quinton Narkle injured his ankle.

NORTH MELBOURNE v MELBOURNE
Sunday May 2, 1.10pm at Blundstone Arena
Last week’s Kangaroos team
B: A.Bonar, B.McKay, S.Atley
HB: J.Ziebell, J.Walker, A.Bosenavulagi
C: C.Taylor, J.Simpkin, J.Stephenson
HF: K.Tuner, C.Zurhaar, L.Davies-Uniacke
F: J.Mahony, N.Larkey, T.Thomas
FOLL: T.Goldstein, B.Cunnington, T.Powell
I/C: La.Young, W.Phillips, C.Menadue, T.Campbell
SUB: D.Tyson
Team Tips: Aaron Hall should return to the North team after failing to play against Fremantle due to a concussion. His inclusion will be a big boost ahead of a mighty tough clash for the Kangaroos. Charlie Lazzaro was rested for the Perth trip and will be considered, while Bailey Scott and Will Walker are among the other youngsters in David Noble’s mind.
Last week’s Demons team
B: A.Tomlinson, S.May, T.Rivers
HB: C.Salem, J.Lever, J.Hunt
C: E.Langdon, C.Petracca, A.Brayshaw
HF: K.Pickett, T.McDonald, A.Neal-Bullen
F: J.Melksham, L.Jackson, B.Fritsch
FOLL: M.Gawn, C.Oliver, J.Viney
I/C: N.Jones, M.Hibberd, C.Spargo, J.Jordon
SUB: K.Chandler
Team Tips: The headaches will continue for Simon Goodwin after key forwards Ben Brown and Sam Weideman again combined for a bag of goals in the reserves. The tall timber kicked seven between them in the VFL, which is likely to tempt the Demons to bring them in for the match. But with a perfect start to the year they could elect to not flirt with form despite a battle with the wooden spoon contenders. If the Demons do want to make a change, there aren’t exactly a long list of players in the gun.

ESSENDON v CARLTON
Sunday May 2, 3.20pm at the MCG
Last week’s Bombers team
B: M.Guelfi, B.Zerk-Thatcher, A.Francis
HB: N.Hind, D.Heppell, J.Laverde
C: A.Perkins, Z.Merrett, N.Cox
HF: A.McDonald-Tipungwuti, C.Hooker, K.Langford
F: B.Ham, J.Stringer, D.Smith
FOLL: A.Phillips, A.McGrath, W.Snelling
I/C: M.Redman, D.Parish, P.Wright, H.Jones
SUB: D.Zaharakis
Team Tips: Essendon will be awaiting to find out the fitness of defender Aaron Francis after he was subbed out due to an ankle injury against Collingwood. The young back went down before half-time and didn’t return to the field. The good news is Jordan Ridley will return after a concussion kept him out of the Anzac Day match, while Tom Cutler is likely to come into consideration after 27 disposals and three goals in the VFL.
Last week’s Blues team
B: L.Plowman, L.Jones, S.Petrevski-Seton
HB: S.Docherty, J.Weitering, A.Saad
C: J.Newnes, E.Curnow, S.Walsh
HF: L.Fogarty, M.McGovern, M.Murphy
F: M.Gibbons, H.McKay, L.Casboult
FOLL: M.Pittonet, P.Cripps, Z.Williams
I/C: D.Cunningham, M.Cottrell, E.Betts, L.Stocker
SUB: M.Kennedy
Team Tips: All eyes are on Carlton coach David Teague as to whether he will make a statement at selection. The Blues can’t continue to stand for mediocrity with David King flagging Marc Murphy as a player who could be squeezed out. The big standouts in the VFL were mostly non-AFL players, but Will Setterfield would be hard to leave out after 25 disposals and 10 tackles against Brisbane’s VFL side. Paddy Dow and Lochie O’Brien both had 20 touches, but consistent performances may be asked from the players before they return. Sam Ramsay is one player who has had a consistent start to the season and could push for a spot in the 23.

WEST COAST EAGLES v FREMANTLE
Sunday May 2, 4.40pm at Optus Stadium
Last week’s Eagles team
B: T.Cole, T.Barrass, A.Witherden
HB: B.Sheppard, J.McGovern, J.Nelson
C: J.Redden, D.Sheed, L.Duggan
HF: X.O’Neill, J.Darling, J.Cripps
F: J.Waterman, O.Allen, J.Jones
FOLL: N.Naitanui, T.Kelly, A.Gaff
I/C: Z.Langdon, J.Brander, N.Vardy, J.Rotham
SUB: B.Ainsworth
Team Tips: Defender Jeremy McGovern appears certain to miss after hurting his adductor in the big loss to Geelong on Saturday. But there could be some good news with forward Josh Kennedy and veteran Shannon Hurn likely to put their hand up for selection. Kennedy missed the game due to ankle soreness, while Hurn hasn’t featured since being subbed out against the Saints through injury. Jake Waterman might be a player to miss out after a quiet performance against the Cats.
Last week’s Dockers team
B: E.Hughes, B.Cox, G.Logue
HB: R.Conca, L.Ryan, N.Wilson
C: B.Acres, A.Brayshaw, J.Aish
HF: T.Colyer, R.Lobb, M.Frederick
F: L.Schultz, M.Taberner, M.Walters
FOLL: S.Darcy, N.Fyfe, D.Mundy
I/C: J.Treacy, C.Serong, M.Crowden, H.Chapman
SUB: C.Blakely
Team Tips: Fremantle will be awaiting the news over the availability of tall Brennan Cox after the tall defender was subbed out with an ankle sprain. Coach Justin Longmuir is positive the eight-day break could keep him in the frame to play in the derby. With no WAFL over the weekend due to the COVID-19 lockdown it could work against a number of players pressing their case outside the team, including Darcy Tucker who might need another week of match practice. If Cox is ruled out, expect defender Taylin Duman to come into the club’s thoughts.

"Riley Collier-Dawkins. Sydney Stack played well at VFL level on the weekend"

I'm not sure if this guy left at halftime when the rain hit but on form neither of these guys are getting picked off that game. Two most likely are CCJ & Naish with Chol a possibility

Yeah I tend to agree with the over arching subject here in regards to the Fox journos and there calls/assessments on teams and predicted team changes so far this year.

For instance, last week Tom Morris suggested the only change for the Hawks would be Koschitzke out for Lewis, as he “struggled to compete against the Demons”. I’m not sure what game Tom was watching, and I’m almost certain he’s a Demons supporter himself so I guess he had eyes on the right game, but that was Kosi’s best game for the year by a mile. It was raised and mentioned throughout the SCS forum as well last week, but ‘competing’ was literally what Kosi did throughout that game. He flew for marks and crashed packs. For him to say that about Kosi, but fail to mention Conor Nash (and to an extent TOB also) at all was baffling for mine.

Anyway, what I think I’m trying to say is that so far this year I’m not reading a lot into the teams and predicted changes content being produced by Fox.

Agree,my issue is that clearly whoever wrote this was not at this game & at best was watching a 1 camera stream.
It was basically 2 different games after the rain hit & you could easily tell who was up for the battle,Casey had Brown,Weideman & Daw who dominated the 2nd half despite the conditions.
Stack is miles off just on fitness & RCD is a puzzle to us all but if he is elevated off that game, the system is wrong.

A few weeks ago the GWS one suggested that Brent Daniels should come in, after he played midfield the whole game for the senior side and was actually one of their better players.

I'm pretty convinced that they haven't even watched the games for some of them. The Kosi one I just laughed at, pretty sure my write up for the game was along the lines of "Clarko would be delighted with the way he competed and had several excellent spoils to bring the ball to ground when out of position"...

Ok so RCD debuts which will make many happy but it just shows that clubs are looking for much different things than the average punter.

Fremantle’s Round 8 home game against Brisbane has been moved to Queensland.
The AFL officially confirmed the fixture change on Tuesday after talks with both clubs and the relevant state governments, meaning the game, scheduled for 4:40pm on Sunday May 9 at Optus Stadium, will instead be played at the Gabba.
The Round 21 game between Fremantle and Brisbane, scheduled for the Gabba, will instead be played at Optus Stadium.

The COVID situation in Western Australia, which saw fans locked out of the Western Derby as well as Fremantle’s Round 6 home game against North Melbourne, drove the change.
There were no new local cases in WA on Monday, but days ago a hotel security guard tested positive to the US strain of the virus.
It is the second time this year Brisbane had a game switched to a different state just days before it was to be played; the Lions played their Round 3 game against Collingwood at Marvel Stadium, instead of the Gabba, and will now host the Magpies in Round 22.

The Dockers had said they lost over $1 million when they had to host the Kangaroos in front of empty stands.
The club will fly to Queensland on Wednesday and will be based on the Gold Coast. Fremantle will remain there for the near future, before flying to Melbourne to face Essendon in Round 9.
AFL STATEMENT
The AFL confirms Fremantle’s Round Eight match against the Brisbane Lions scheduled for Optus Stadium will be relocated to The Gabba with their Round 21 match-up to be switched to Optus Stadium.
The day and time for the Round Eight match-up remains unchanged with the game against the Brisbane Lions to commence at 4:40pm AEST on Sunday, May 9.
Fremantle will travel to Queensland on Wednesday, May 5 and will be based on the Gold Coast before travelling to Melbourne for their Round Nine match against Essendon at Marvel Stadium on Sunday, May 16.

The AFL is working closely with both Western Australian-based teams and any decision made is in consultation with respective State Governments and aims to minimise any potential disruption and risk for both the clubs and the broader competition.
AFL Executive General Manager Football Operations Steve Hocking said the health and safety of everyone remains paramount and the league would continue to take the advice of governments and health officials.
“The health and safety of everyone in the game and the wider community remains the priority as we continue to navigate the pandemic,” Mr Hocking said.
“Our competition will continue to remain adaptable as we navigate the 2021 Toyota AFL Premiership Season and the AFL thanks both clubs, players and the AFLPA, venues, governments, and supporters for their understanding.”

How is everyone's upgrade plan going?

I've sketched a plan on the back of the napkin and think i can get to 20 premos by the end of Rd15, with 8 trades left.

Is this a ballpark figure or should I look at being more aggressive with my trading?

I am expecting I'll have started the NTL club by that stage, so looking like you are in much better shape than me. I'm likely going to be stuck with a few "premium" players in my team, and it is also likely I will cop a few injury donuts in late rounds. Probably better to ask someone else if you are trading aggressively enough.

I've done something similar and it depends a bit on your definition of Premiums - as @Ironhawk alluded to. I have 16 'non rookies' I'm hoping to carry through the byes and aiming to get 5 premiums in with 8 trades left.

In hindsight, I did include Cripps, Jelly, Short and Zorko as part of my 'premium' list.

If you can get to 20 premiums by the end of round 15 with 8 trades left you would of done well.
Also depends on what you classify as a “premium” - guys like Impey may well end up being a premium if they continue to score like they have done so far/ with his current role, I think he could well sustain it.
With cash generation from the rookies so ordinary this year, it is going to be difficult to fill your team with true premiums this year - I can see most needing to compromise with quasi premiums due to this/ getting real value with your upgrades is paramount this season.
I normally subscribe to the 150k rule - not trading a rookie till they make this amount but very few look capable (Powell/Jordon/Warner/Gulden/ maybe Kosi/ maybe Flynn if Mummy can take more rests lol) so I have moved on a few after making just 100k / looked maxed out so therefore I have had to compromise my upgrade target - for example I took Andy Brayshaw (despite tag concerns) over Bont/ Petracca.
Unusual season this year so many injuries to premiums along with the rookie issues so hard to plan too far ahead with any confidence.

I'm probably doing the wrong strategy, but I am not planning my future trades. Sure, I have noted the players that I would like to trade in, players that have dropped in price as possible trade-ins later and keeping an eye on the Byes, but that's about it.
My strategy is basically, one week at a time and taking advantage of what is presenting itself.
Too often in the past, my planning have been thrown out the window with unexpected situations that happen weekly.

So true. As they say, in war no plan survives contact with the enemy. The same can be said for Supercoach.
Just trying something different this year by setting some medium term plans and then trying to work around them as best I can.

Will see at the end of the season how that turns out. :coffee:
