Just scrolling through the 380-430k forwards. If it wasn't Aaron Hall I'd definitely be looking at him. 3 Rd average of 92 including a concussion 37. Season average of 76 across 5 matches also includes an injury sub 3 in his first game. Ignore those 2 and he's gone at 105 in his 3 complete matches...

But it's Aaron Hall.
Have you looked at Stringer ?

Guthrie vs Duncan?

I'm gonna move on Tex this week - and thinking of going Titch or Brayshaw - or to go for the more exy but more premium in Guthrie or Duncan.

Already have Oliver - want Macrae and Steele... but was kinda wanting to go more POD.

Thoughts?

I have the big Cripps issue too... but i'd rather play him than a rookie for now (unless its Powell or Jordon)

Unsurprisingly, what happens with these "value" choices is you either end up having a good experience where you feel you've got value, where you might have made 50k, and got some good scores, even though they threw a couple of average ones. And the next time they're cheap you think...."maybe"....

Or

You take one and they score consistently badly and you sell them after 4 weeks with no value gain, and swear "never again"

In my history, I have looked at Stringer, thought "he's going to get midfield minutes and he's priced for a forward pocket, giddyup". And I got forward pocket scores and quietly tiptoed away a month later. So he's in the never again basket.

There are still plenty of options I haven't tried and a few who have gone well for me (Charlie Curnow, when will you be back?). So given that, when I look at Stringer vs Tom Lynch coming off a 100..

Someone save me from myself, please....

Fair enough , plenty of options available.

Ok so why trade this week then ?

You might be creating more issues for yourself.

Marshall dropping

Dusty $ 420k in 2 weeks

Set yourself a plan to bring them in.

Probably wise. But you know, I have some spare cash, and am just falling further off the pace every week.

I doubt that I'll go full crazy, when it comes down to it, but will likely try and get one rookie forward off field for a 400-450k option, then get upgrade a defender next week to Ridley at 500ish k. (I currently have almost 300k to fund these 2 upgrades with one additional down. Going searching for a super-value play might allow me to make 3 pseudo-upgrades with the same cash, hence the search)

Then manage the remaining forward and mid upgrades as required with up/downs

Bit hard to recommend things without seeing your team.

Haha.

I'll work it out. Thanks for the offer. (IE it's too embarrassing to post publically :) )
fair enough , can't be any worse than mine

no use digging yourself a deeper and deeper hole though if people (not necessarily myself) might see other options available which could improve things

Plenty of fallen premiums value on offer in the next 2-3 rounds.

Howe for the Pies 1-2 weeks away. So probably no for Murphy.
Murphy for pies though looks a very good prospect - very couragous and does a lot of good things.

I would go him before Murray. Murray was playing forward and floating around. Took two good marks and kicked a good goal. But i can't see him doing that all the time.

The great thing about this forum is that we all have different levels of experience! The other great thing is that this is a completely judgement free environment where everyone really wants the best for other coaches.

So I completely respect that you might want to work out your trades yourself (i'm kind of the same), but please don't feel you can't ask for assistance/share your team for fear of being judged, because that simply wont happen here :)

Surely you need to remove all your onfield rookies before worrying about Atkins & Cumming ?

I guess if they are not losing $$$ and still maintaining their scoring they aren't causing too much of a problem.

You must have a strong side if they are your pressing concerns.
hmmmm your post is making me reconsider trading Tex and trading Clark to a premium mid.

They certainly aren't what I would consider pressing concerns. Just thinking ahead perhaps a little too far. Yep 90% chance they are last to go unless one looks like leaking cash.

I don't own either but quick look on Footywire looks like Walker will be $ 425k in 3 rounds.

Clark is 65+ apart from his medical sub game.

I guess if you don't see them both as keepers you get rid of the one first who is scoring less or bleeding the most $$$.

Walker's cash could bounce back and be a stepping stone maybe to Dangerfield eventually but that could be awhile away yet.

Thanks all for the offers. And yes this forum is fantastic for its non judgemental advice. At the moment I can see what I need to do pretty clearly, while at the same time I can see many other possibilities that could be equal parts fun and stupid. If I get too lost I will definitely ask for help, but for now I think it's ok.

1st point of order. Replace rookies with consistent premos as much as possible. I have 21 trades to get 5 rookies off the field. If I do that, then I have however many left to think about upgrading failed or just average performing mid pricers (3 or 4) and then I can start thinking about any other upgrades.

Thanks all, you have convinced me that Buddy is not the answer :)
