Not hearing any chatter about Ryan Byrnes, got picked off the back of some strong performances in the Magoos (don't know where to access his numbers) Debut game had 8 kicks, 10 HB, 9 marks, 1 tackle, 2 CP, 2CL, 1 CG @72% for 75DT, 52SC.

What am I not hearing?
RCD looked better, only one game.

If he backs it up, he's absolutely on the radar, looked good.

IF we are to go early on RCD this week (looks to be a few considering it) are there any rookies next week that look better than Murphy/Parks?
Owies, Byrnes and Poulter were probably the 3 best, imo.

Owies JS is dreadful with several of their senior guys playing his position but he played really well.

Poulter is one of the Pies revolving door guys and did nothing really right or wrong last week. Needs a big game this week and role not ideal (still not terrible).

Byrnes also JS is the problem, stronger team and will have a fight for his spot.

Parks JS is clearly very decent, came straight back in and was one of their best last week, imo. One his tackles would have just been the first 2 minutes of the film review if Teague has a clue.

Murphy JS probably not as good but a mature guy playing a stronger role and was clearly their best "rookie" over the past couple of weeks so is ahead of about 4 others who should be playing the roundabout game I'd think.

Jordon Sweet is apparently an in for the Dogs this weekend, he'll get a fair crack at it and will likely score well. The JS is probably not good though.

McNeil and Scott have been good cows this season comparatively, but I think one of them will be the sub again this week unfortunately. Scott was actually one of the few of the Dogs to stand up to the Tigers last week in the contests, though he did end up very sore at the end of the game. At least both are still in the mix for selection, a big tick this year it seems.

What chance JordOn Sweet to stick around?
Very debatable, Martin out a couple of weeks but English should be back this week and then Sweet would have to play so well that he forces them to keep playing him, I think he's looked to have a bright future in his two games but I wouldn't say he's commanding a spot in a win now side, that said, Martin has been pretty terrible so I actually think he might offer more than him, probably depends how much is Martin playing with the achilles and whether that's the reason he's stunk or he's just as done as he's looked for basically all but round one of this season in the last 18 months.

So I guess it's a maybe, other factor is the achilles injuries do tend to linger and come back, see the end of Deledio or Brad Johnson's careers, who were both durability machines most of their careers.

I think if you don't have a way to get Flynn down to Poulter/RCD/Byrnes (who all have about 5 spots to play for instead of one) then Sweet is probably the best target we get for Flynn with a chance of doing anything in the byes.

Is 7 DNP rookies too many? - asking for a friend
Just resting up for the bye rounds, no issues here.

And yes, yes it is. Ideally you want one for looping, a 2nd with DPP like a Sharp can have functional value but any more than that is lost cash generation, the problem is that sideways trades right now are even worse than DNPs...

What is the advantage of double down over 1up 1 down. SC often provides bottom out prems the same time as two rookies are available to cash out. Which strategy is generally has proven most effective?

One up, one down is preferred in theory, because it gets your team upgraded more quickly. If you compare it to double down, double up, you would have one extra premium generating points for you for one round, for each two round cycle.

In practice my experience is that it’s more important to identify and grab the good rookies when they are on the bubble. The second wave of rookies are materially worse than the first on average, and there are generally fewer to choose from, so to me it’s a bit like your initial team structure - the availability of good rookies determines what you do.

Patrick Naish from Richmond, midfielder, $180k (at the moment). Any potential for him in the coming weeks as a rookie?

Has scored 5 and 1 in the past 2 matches, both as late-activated medical subs.

May get an opportunity in the midfield with the Tigers problems. Projected to actually drop in price to $150k after this round if named.

So annoying that Frederick (Port) ended up coming on for a quarter to ruin his price and BE. Anyone still considering him at $170k if picked? My hand might be forced given the genuine prospect of donuts in DEF.

To add to what Darkie said, this week's rookie crop looks far better than next week's so a double down this week might well makes sense.
