If Hawkins, Hogan, Cameron, Lynch, Darling, Heeney, Rozee and Dixon are up for discussion what about Aaron Hall. I watched all round 4 match against Adelaide and really liked his game down back with Ziebell. Round 5 started well again and at the start of second quarter got KOed which left him with 37 points. Missed round 6 because of being KOed and back again playing round 7 like he was round 5 and start of round 6. Breakeven 105 this week so 1 more look at him before deciding about a $410,000 price range he will be if scores about 100.
I did not notice he was a forward! He's a phenomenal option playing that easy half back role in a really bad team. Really good hedge with the Ziegull as well because he's definitely going to eat into his points if the last few games are anything to go on. The big knock of course is his really shaky history, both durability and attitude and he's not the captain so he's not a sure thing of staying in the side.

Have loved the way he's played. 105 BE means you can probably wait another week on him also but he might be the best forward target available, would not surprise me at all if he averages 100+ from here.

Great spot.

Having a closer look at Darling.. could be an intriguing prospect.

Next 5 games are:

Hawks (MCG)
Crows (OS)
GWS (GS)
Bombers (OS)
Blues (MCG)

By ladder position that is 16th, 13th, 11th, 15th and 12th.. and a few of those teams can give up scores to key forwards and have midfields that should get shredded by the Eagles. After this 5 week stretch is his bye (round 13, the middle bye round) so at 466k he could get to somewhere around 550k and then be either a season hold or a sideways trade to player coming off the round 12 bye (Butters could potentially net you some cash from the trade).

Trades are at a premium this year and key forwards are risky but could be a bold move.. especially if he can back up his recent scoring (128, 86, 123 over the last 3 weeks). Worth a thought at least!

He certainly fits the bill, and has done it before under more onerous conditions in terms of rules. I like your thinking even if he doesn't end up being it.
But his BYE sux, if you worry about that stuff. I already have 8 round 13 bye premos, so I cant afford to look at him until after round 13.

I don't think $466k is cheap enough for that kind of play. You'd want $350k at most and even then crossing all your fingers and toes.

Right on the edge but it is tempting. That draw looks juicy so can see a spike score or two in there. Especially if they do play the bombers at OS as planned!

Darling has had some deceptively good half seasons, if you can get him hot he can do some great things. He looks fit and I think is enjoying now being the 3rd tall with Allen having become probably their best forward. Still, tough sell for mine.

Trying to work out who I want in the forward line at the end of the year and work backwards from there, and then trying to slot in a plan of how to bring those players in around the byes.

I think a post-bye 5 of Ziebell, Dusty, Zorko, Marshall, Bolton look like the most likely and consistent to deliver something like 95+. Throw in one other (Impey maybe holds, or Danger/Butters come back blazing etc.) and hopefully you have a set and forget line for the last N rounds.

Trouble is, I'm already edgy on the R13 bye so if I picked up Zorko and Bolton soonish I'd have a party on the bench with the likes of Macrae, Bont, Walsh, Ridley, Short etc. So if I want to pass on the more speculative 85+ types and wait for my target picks, I'll probably just have to sit and run rookies for the next few weeks and hope it holds up.

Man I hate forwards this year :cautious::unsure:.

Spot on. Exactly where I’m at. Which is why I’m looking seriously at Hall and vaguely considering Greene, Hawkins, McDonald.

True - but they have been a god send in terms of rookies available. Defenders have been a nightmare for me.

I think given those fwd upgrades look like 95+ players, I’m looking to save the trade on Daniher/Impey who could do 90 / 95 themselves.

Need the trade to upgrade a 65 avg Cripps to a proper 105-110 avg mid

Yes, Cripps is probably more urgent for me as well. I’ll keep Impey, don’t have Joey.

Just very annoying- and bleeding points fwd e every week, and no clear answer.

BTW @Bomber18 we are currently on exactly the same overall points. 🤔 Team Cripps

Did you see the age article confirming he's been playing with a fracture in his back?

No idea whether to drop him now or keep trying to hold hoping he gets a rest at some stage? So tricky for us poor bastards with him. Flipping during the byes seems OK, but he'll likely be another ~30k cheaper.

Have seen it now. Might need to bite the bullet now and play Warner another week
