Any thoughts on 2 of Berry, Dev Robertson or Tom Phillips to trade out for Poulter and RCD?

Berry has weak job security, might not be named R9, and releases the least amount of cash. Least likely to have a spike game.

Dev releases a bit more cash, however has shaky JS. Has M/F. Unlikely to make much money leading up to his bye, unless he hits a spike game.

Phillips releases the most cash, is about to drop $20k, and is scoring low 70s. Upside is that he is R12 bye, and M/F.
I think Berry is a dead rookie at this point even if he's getting games (although Adelaide are debuting Ronin O'Connor this week who seems like for like, wouldn't be surprised if Berry goes out for him). I'm going to try keep the rookies that are better points scorers for now during the byes. I think depending on what you can get out of releasing Phillips in terms of upgrades going the other way, Robertson would be the one I'd look to get rid of first, at least Phillips will be getting games, Robertson could be out of their side and with the byes coming up, you probably don't want another dead rookie. My $0.02 anyway

Any news on the crows 2nds team?

Trade Warner or Rowe.

The one not traded has to be fielded or else I cop a donut. If only the Thursday teams came out this week. :cautious:

Would've thought Robertson had shaky JS given Fagan's comments during the week personally , unless I have completely misinterpreted them.

Berry and Brockman dont really seem too capable of scoring well enough over a 2-3 week period, theyre both gone for me. Also reluctantly got rid of Dev this week, had two very poor DT scores and being benched a lot, but I think he's capable of a spike game. Just with Scott/McNeil/Flynn kickingstarting cash I have no one else to cut

Warner vs Rowe is the one I'm still a bit torn on. Head says keeping Warner is the correct play as Rowe even with a lowish BE is not a player you can rely on through the byes, Warner out however seems the more traditional method of cashing in on topped out rookies and frees up an extra $90k which could be handy. If I get rid of Warner, I still have Scott who can play on field. Leaning towards turfing Rowe myself.

I've pretty much settled on Rowe and Gulden out for Poulter and RCD keeping warner. Was convinced earlier on keeping Rowe instead of Warner. But Warner will hold close to his price. Can imagine a 20 for Rowe in Perth and my bench cover is Treacy and Waterman.

Warner to Poulter? Worth it?
The thing that made me hang onto Warner (and Gulden before we found out he's out for 6 weeks) is that he is up against the us (Collingwood) on his home deck today, so potential for him to put up a spike score in the midfield is definitely there if we put in another poor performance today like we did here or here.

Tossing between the Bont, Tom Mitchell or Zac Merrett.
Would place them in that order.

M Bontempelli- On track to record career high disposals average, as usual boasts a great kick to handball ratio and should have the most scoreboard impact of the above trio.

With the other two it depends on which player you to prefer to watch accumulate 32-37 disposals for 105-120 points on a weekly basis and for a $65,000 saving, I would say Mitchell narrowly wins out.

No cash restraints on future trades then it would be Bontempelli, otherwise Mitchell should be a great selection if you have too many loopholes or a lack of rookies with negative to low breakevens.

Berry is out the door for mine, because he doesn't appear to have a spike score or higher ceiling in him as a very low possession getter in the midfield, hasn't been looking great in games recently, and there is the small matter the next 2-3 games potentially being very rough for the Crows.

Do you have any other obvious rookies who need cashing in?

I'd be tempted to hang onto Dev to see if he can put up that spike score as you mentioned, with two potentially favourable games against the Suns and Tigers coming up. He was given a hard tagging job on Fyfe and was trying to shadow him at the stoppages most of the time while he (Dev) was on the ground. With Fages also cryptically complimenting players on performing the roles they were given after the game you could perhaps interpret that a bit of a pat on the back for players like Dev who followed instructions and sacrificed their natural game, even though Fyfe obviously still have a big influence on the game, and tagging would be a massive role shift for Dev that he might take a bit of time to settle into..

As bad as Phillips has been he is still probably going to be a 70's average player so he's probably not going to shed that much more cash compared to a rookie who has reached their BE and may be hitting the wall or could be out of the side. Hawthorns draw does open up a little for them in the next few weeks as well for what it's worth.

Of course Phillips does need to stop being such a ***** as one of the more senior members of Hawthorn's lineup who is being paid good coin and actually show up in the second half of games to be anything close to useful for SC, but that's a different story.

Thanks for the input, really appreciate it and my thinking most of the week had been along those lines.

Ended up chopping Phillips and Robertson.

Supercoach is supposed to be fun. No doubt I would have been uber pissed off and moping around the whole weekend if I kept Phillips and he dropped another 55. So, chopping Phillips was an investment in my own sanity.

Feels good having Duggan and Phillips out of my side now.
