Any thoughts on 2 of Berry, Dev Robertson or Tom Phillips to trade out for Poulter and RCD?
Berry has weak job security, might not be named R9, and releases the least amount of cash. Least likely to have a spike game.
Dev releases a bit more cash, however has shaky JS. Has M/F. Unlikely to make much money leading up to his bye, unless he hits a spike game.
Phillips releases the most cash, is about to drop $20k, and is scoring low 70s. Upside is that he is R12 bye, and M/F.
Berry is out the door for mine, because he doesn't appear to have a spike score or higher ceiling in him as a very low possession getter in the midfield, hasn't been looking great in games recently, and there is the small matter the next 2-3 games potentially being very rough for the Crows.
Do you have any other obvious rookies who need cashing in?
I'd be tempted to hang onto Dev to see if he can put up that spike score as you mentioned, with two potentially favourable games against the Suns and Tigers coming up. He was given a hard tagging job on Fyfe and was trying to shadow him at the stoppages most of the time while he (Dev) was on the ground. With Fages also cryptically complimenting players on performing the roles they were given after the game you could perhaps interpret that a bit of a pat on the back for players like Dev who followed instructions and sacrificed their natural game, even though Fyfe obviously still have a big influence on the game, and tagging would be a massive role shift for Dev that he might take a bit of time to settle into..
As bad as Phillips has been he is still probably going to be a 70's average player so he's probably not going to shed that much more cash compared to a rookie who has reached their BE and may be hitting the wall or could be out of the side. Hawthorns draw does open up a little for them in the next few weeks as well for what it's worth.
Of course Phillips does need to stop being such a ***** as one of the more senior members of Hawthorn's lineup who is being paid good coin and actually show up in the second half of games to be anything close to useful for SC, but that's a different story.
