He's a classic example of I don't know why anyone would actually have him already... but at this point of the season if you've got a guy who's been injured twice and they still keep picking him then the job security if he can stay fit justifies the durability risk for a trade target who is just there as a hopeful donut cover for late season carnage, unless he was back this week or maybe next, the reality is that he's probably there to play in the byes and for the rest of the season.

You're focused on the wrong end of the equation though, you've picked 2 specific targets to try and counter the general theory, if you go one up one down this week then you're forced into one of the 3 next week options whose averages are 56 (at 193k), 39 and 3, so even less cash generation instead of that top 4 (of which you left Bynes out of for some reason).

On the flipside you've got Ridley, Williams, Lever, Whitfield, Vlastuin, Houston and a bunch of other defender options available that will drop price.

In short, Daniel is one of many, the rookies are few and far. Rozee and forwards the same.

Not for mine, Byrnes has a better bye than RCD but he's had a great role and it should be better and his bye is still ok. Poulter I don't think is impacted by Adams, he's very outside and was playing a bit of HB and wing last week, role was solid and has scored well so far.

I like Byrnes though but the DPP of Poulter has more value to me and I think RCD actually has the best 5 week job security and opportunity as well as role.

Byrnes absolutely could be the sneaky best option though and Sweet is very much in play, especially if Flynn is out but I'd definitely prefer if English was in and Sweet holds his spot than having English a week away and Martin a few as the potential blocks.

Biggest problem with Sweet is he offers almost nothing in the byes while, hopefully, the other guys this week all should. Martin and English will, barring a big lie on Martin's timeframe, be back by the r14 bye and Gawn and Grundy are taking the two spots until that.

Obviously changes a bit if you've not stumbled into the GG combo still despite the fantasy gods all but forcing people towards it!
Thanks very much for this; kept on fighting against my instinct to want to bring Byrnes in, stuck with Poulter and RCD in the end.
They're all only as good as their last game, I guess, but both performed well and did their short term prospects no harm.
Thanks again 👍.

Anyone see how Briggs played?
Score was modest, & TOG was pretty low as well.
Was he being eased into it, or were they trying to hide him?

I actually thought he played ok, was ok in the ruck vs Nank, moved around the ground pretty well and impacted on marking contests, but like a lot of first gamers it was a case of a fair few missed half-chances to get involved for him. Also suffered from the usual rookie phenomenon where team mates bypassed him in favour of a longer kick down the line to a contest a few times. All in all a game where he looked ok on on tape for a debutant but it didn't translate to SC scoring.

His problem is that he isn't a defender filling Keeffe's role, so he's directly competing against Flynn, Mummy and (eventually) Preuss and would be last in the pecking order there, so any JS he might have would be shaky at best, especially after their bye.

He (and Houston) will either be playing AFL or SANFL based on the Honeyball quote
Houston I imagine they wouldn't risk in the SANFL with his shoulder, Jones will probably get a game in the twos first, unless they're really desperate for warm bodies. I'm really thinking about bringing in Jones sight unseen as a D7 this week, I think he's in their best 22 when he's back to full match fitness.

Just based on what Montgomery said.

McKenzie or Lienert probably comes in for Clurey so might depend on matchups and how they reshuffle their defence.

Hmm yeah it's probably less risky picking up Jones playing SANFL instead of going early on a Briggs, O'Connor, Ralphsmith etc. as funny as that sounds

Hinkley could do the sub trick on Jones and destroy another rookie. Please Hinkley leave our kids a lone.

Thought he was solid but saw nothing to suggest he should play the 2nd ruck role ahead of Flynn if they're going with a legit big, which given how Cameron and I see things means lock him in

Seriously though, was playing Finlayson's 2nd ruck, 3rd tall role and was solid.

Flynn showed more as a forward and much more as a ruck though so it really should be him if they're going legit double rucks but I think they quite probably end up with Finlayson and Mummy in for Flynn and Briggs.

Riccardi took Keeffe's defensive post.

One thing I noted in those highlights is that he perhaps looks a bit top heavy for a bloke with a long history of recurrent soft-tissue injuries?

Probably a bit much to expect him to be a lean mean fighting machine at this point with the journey he's had to go through, but it makes me a little more worried about his durability from a SC scoring perspective.

Edit: if the "moullet" was any indication of scoring ability then he would be an SC gun, as that is a magnificent example of business up front and party out back!
