That's actually a pretty damn good way to do this comp to be fair, would be genuinely interesting how much things would change if it was the averages of each team for the week rather than just the highest scorer.
This has been discussed earlier in the thread and I absolutely understand the argument for using the average rather than the maximum.

However the rationale for using the maximum instead of the average is as follows.
  • The fundamental objective here was to acknowledge the highest scorer from each supporter group and have that score count in a competition against the other supporter groups.
  • I felt that would give the specific member a buzz to be acknowledged and something to aspire to and there is a sufficient body of evidence now that this is in fact accurate.
  • If you use an average then that score does not belong to any individual participant and therefore the individual acknowledgement would disappear.
  • I thought using the maximum would encourage more to participate because using the average might discourage members who felt they were at a lower standard for fear that they would negatively impact their teams score.
  • I acknowledge that using the max fundamentals favours the teams with more reps however just note that using the average would fundamentally favour those clubs who have relatively few reps who are highly placed and would actually encourage lower scoring members to drop out.
Having said that I probably assumed when I started this last season that most SCS members would jump in and all clubs would have more reps and the numbers advantages would be less significant. Unforunately it hasn't played out that way with a fairly significant number of active members not involved.

Not saying to change mate, I love the format now that I've found it :)

Not sure how had it would be to do but would be kind of cool to see how much changes with averages though.

Absolutely agree with all those points fwiw!

Just need to dig up more Swans fans next year or just be better! ;)

No worries. Really appreciate you taking an interest and offering a view.

I suppose I just wanted to show that there is method to my madness and using the average isn’t necessarily the silver bullet it appears.

It would be straight forward to change though. As an academic exercise I did see what the current standings would look like using the average and needless to say the Swanees would be a major beneficiary and the Roos would be a major poopeficiary (thanks mainly to yours truly). If enough people ask I might be persuaded to post it.

Before we get to this week I might have got a touch carried away last week with the Roos dual victory over the Hawks that I might have buried the lead. It is with many apologies to @UltraSNORF the sole Gold Coast representative that it has taken me one week longer than it should have to acknowledge their first victory for the year over the Lions.

On to round 10 and @randomcliche topped the group with a whopping 2545 to lead his Hawks to convincing victory over the @Slammer led Blues. The Roos continue their purple patch as @Burly placed 2nd in the group (and @Leroy 3rd) to knock over the ladder leading and defending champion Bombers led by @Creeker. Collingwood jump to the top of the ladder after @Darkie gave his Pies the victory over the @Connoisseur led Port Adelaide. The thriller of the week was fought out between the Bulldogs on the Saints as @Under The Dome gave his dogs a 5 point victory over the unlucky @stephen who made a much better fist of things than his onfield brethren.

Other reps this week were @jel, @Nick T, @The Experiment, @Loboda1963, @Spifflicator, @Deeman1, @Toothless Tigers, @jaca, @UltraSNORF, and @kennychao.

Tough matchups for the Hawks,Power and Bulldogs so far all conceding 23k+.
Looking at who is running this, it makes sense for the Hawks to be the most screwed over (8 places below their points rank). I'm sure it's all just bad luck... (joking, I know it's legit).

Well done @randomcliche on top spot this round! Welcome to the club - hopefully we can get a few more Hawks supporters to join us as weekly leaders before the season is over. @PC was close to making it 3 of us in Rd 3 with second for the round. I'm fairly sure I won't be getting there again this season.

I'm working on building a finals competitive team while keeping a close eye on overall, some big scores could be around the corner. Though with 13 trades left after this week I'm going to have to slow down!

@Lgndhen23 topped the charts for this week with his 2500 points and 17th rank for the week but presumably the absolute highlight is it helped his Magpies topple the @deluucs led Cats and maintain their clear lead of the SCSOECC ladder. @Impromptu makes a second appearance in recent weeks to see the Bombers to victory over the unlucky Eagles valiantly led by the site West Coast correspondent @Lost In The Sky in the highest scoring game of the round. Port Adelaide get the 3rd highest score for the round thanks to @OVERKILL and comfortably accounting for the Dockers represented by @The Experiment. @Beijing_Sting was obviously very pleased with his efforts this week and did indeed lead his team to victory over the GWS loan wolf @Spifflicator. Honourable mention this week to @UltraSNORF who scored a meritorious 2316 but unfortunately failed to topped the @Tamuhawk Hawks.

Other reps this week were @Toothless Tigers, @Markl, @jaca, @Under The Dome, @Blaze, @teatai, @Monya Meow Meow and @Deeman1.
